I finished Shimoneta, I have not laughed that hard at an anime since Outbreak Company. What a great show!
|
I saw the first two episodes of Is This a Zombie?. Not bad, has some pretty funny moments and it's watchable. I might watch more, but I'm not sure.
|
So I decided to check out the Corpse Party series. The first one release is Corpse Party: Missing Footage. Besides the blood and dark opening, it was a waste of time. Nice animation, but that's about it. It was dull and I didn't care for the characters. Not sure if I want to check Corpse Party: Tortured Souls or not? Grade: D

I've been watching Hidamari Sketch lately. I was honestly caught off guard by how enjoyable it is--it's just, really enjoyable. I think after Monogatari, this is the Shaft-iest I've ever seen Shaft. And that's always a lot of fun. Art and animation-wise it's just a weird, fun thing, the voice acting is great, and the laid-back humor is just...enjoyable. Everything being out of order is also a nice touch. Weird big ol calm little experience, this.
Also the ending theme is really good. I'm only 6 episodes in, but this series has like 4 seasons and a bunch of ovas...hopefully whole thing is this strong. |

I would, but it seems like the only ones in the US are for the PSP and Vita. I sold my PSP in 2009 and I don't own a Vita.

I finish watching Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. What a great way on kicking off Halloween. 15 years later and this movie is still awesome. The dub is good and I still view this movie as my favorite Vampire Hunter D movie. The first movie from the 80's is good, but Bloodlust has more action to it. The animation in this movie still looks awesome. Overall Grade: A
My VHD ranking: BL>1985 OVA film. I like both movies a lot though and I look forward to next year's TV series. |
I love D, but I can not sit through the original movie after reading the original novel. The changes just annoy me to no end.
Bloodlust though, doesn't really feel like it has anything to do with Demon Death Chase outside of Meir Ling and the names of the Marcus Bros. Everything else is not even close to being like the book. I absolutely love the score to Bloodlust and the animation, especially for Carmilla's castle, is gorgeous. |
I never read the books, so I watch the movies as their own things. I can see why people like the second movie over the first film since it's more action pack while the first movie can be rather slow at points.
I also watch Cat Soup last night. Not horror related, but I watch it out of pure boredom. It was very strange, but I enjoy it. I give it like a C+, I like it for what it was. |
I need some quick help here. I just watched all 4 episodes to Ghost in the Shell Arise today to get ready for the new movie I'm seeing on the 10th, but I heard that the two additional episodes from the TV cut of the series leads into it. Does anyone know which episodes they are? I can't find an exact list because the episode list I see has the fourth OVA episode listed as the first two episodes to the series, which just wouldn't make any damn sense.
|
I check out the first two episodes of Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Seneki and it was cool. Maybe it was just me or but the Japanese voice for the Red Dragon sounds awfully familiar?

The last two are the new ones. |

I watched all four episodes to Ghost in the Shell Arise today. My first time watching them all in one sitting and dubbed. It was great, but not as good as SAC. I also really miss the old English voice cast. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the new dub, but I just can not get used to hearing these new voices for my GitS characters. I think episode 2 is easily the weakest of the four while the third episode is probably my favorite. It just really shows a side to Motoko we haven't seen before and adds some nice little surprises to the mix. On the other hand, the fourth episode really feels like a classic GitS story. Not a fan of the Firestarter storyline being unfinished, but that is what the movie is for. Oh yeah, I also downloaded the two episodes from the TV cuts that continue where the series left off. They were pretty good but felt more like filler than anything else. I hope Funimation doesn't make me buy the entire TV cut of the series (which for some dumb ass reason put the fourth episode as the first 2) just for those two episodes. Anyway, I'm all set for the movie next week. YES!!! |
Miyu Matsuki passed away at age of 38 link gives you some here credits she been in ill edit this post later with all her credits later.
Full filmography http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...es-away/.94904 |
That is terrible...I really enjoyed her work. Rather young, as well...really very sad.
|
Matsuki Miyu died at such a young age. So terrible and sad to hear about it.
|
Damn, I loved her as Kuuko :( how tragic.
|
I have never wanted to punch a YuGiOh character as much as I do with Shinji Weber. Fuck that guy!
|
She was so talented, Hisui is one of my all time favorite characters... in well, anything, and she had many unique and great roles, it really is a tragedy.
May she rest in peace. Here's a translation of her last post: https://www.facebook.com/KaroshiMyri...type=3&fref=nf |
I watch the first two episodes of Dragon Ball Super, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Gangsta, Blood Blockade Battlefront and Comet Lucifer for new anime day (anime from this year) at my anime and manga club. I really enjoy Umaru-chan, Blood Blockade Battlefront, and Gangsta.
|
everybody clamored about Gangsta during the first few episodes.
I thought it was okay. |
I really like the English dub of Gangsta. I plan on watching the rest of Umaru-chan too. It was surprisingly cute and funny.
|
I don't know what to make of Comet Lucifer. I feel like it desperately wants to be Eureka Seven, but it's mostly just being boring. All the characters are bland, generic tropes, and half of them are pretty stupid, to boot. The villains in particular are suuuuuper obnoxious. I can not roll my eyes hard enough at that trio of psychopaths. They're like the baby's first villains version of interesting antagonists.
The romance is also super bland. Bland is a good way to describe Comet Lucifer. Man, if I knew they weren't even gonna play that song for the preview like, ever, I wouldn't have even started watching this thing.... |

I have formed a habit now with anime might be a bad one but started watch seven deadly sins on Netflix and the English dub as well why the dub and not watch it subb when it first came out its cause it set in Great Britain or old name during Roman Greek period where it was called Britainan so I thought it set in my home country so I'll watch the dub and think it was aniplex dubbing the show I loved it.

Just started School-Live.
Haha yes. That was a good first episode. It's a shame that I already had some vague understanding of the setting (delusions, zombie apocalypse), because the little hints throughout were really neat. The blatantly empty classrooms, the blocked off hall, the shovel, the agriculture club obviously farming for subsistence, the fucking grave. I wish I didn't know anything so piecing all those little things together would have been more of a challenge, or at least so that it would have been a real shock. In any case, twist at the end as telegraphed as it was was great. Really interested in seeing where this series goes. edit: uuuuuuug episode 3. there's literally no way Megu-nee isn't going to be the first one to die, is there? she's gonna die so hard. aaaaa. this episode was like a massive death flag. plus her location in the op is as encouraging as a knife to the face. Still great. oh yeah and the track boy is totally the one buried in that grave, right? i can't imagine that will do much good, i could see it contaminate the crops with evil zombie germs, but who knows if that's how this is gonna work. hmmm... |
Battle Arena Toshinden - Not sure what to think about this anime? It has every Shonen anime cliche that you can find. I don't mind cliches for the most part since everything is based on cliches, but this anime was boring to watch. Watching this anime made me feel like that I should be watching better anime instead. The characters are flat and the story is poorly written. I admit some of the fights are cool and the animation is good for a mid 90's OVA. The dubbing is somewhat watchable.
If you are 12 or 13 years old then you may get enjoyment out of this, other wise skip it. It's barely watchable. Grade: D |

I’m still haunted by the Tekken OVA... *shudder* |
I didn't know it was based on video game until recently. For fighting game anime, stick with the SF2 movie and Darkstalkers IMO. I remember the Tekken OVA was made as a pilot for a TV series that never happen.
|
Street Fighter 2 I'll give you, but Darkstalkers isn't much better than all the other bottom-barrel fighting game adaptations that were coming out at that time.

But after a quick google and seeing the art for it, I kinda wish you hadn't enlightened me :p |

I'm a big fan of the Darkstalkers games and I personally enjoy the OVA's. Sure it's not amazing, but it's enjoyable and a decent adaption in my opinion.
