I just watched Cencoroll. Cencoroll is a short movie directed, written and animated by the guy who ended up being the art director for Digimon tri. Cencoroll is, appropriately, about some kids with monsters. And it's pretty cool. Short, so not super developed on any front, but cool. Good fluid animation, expressive characters (i also really like this guy's style in general so there's that) and it's a pretty fun and interesting little thing.

I hope the sequel ends up coming out one of these days. Also the poster for that totally looks like the Digimon ones, ha.

Just finished up No Game No Life since I've been sent a copy of the DVDs for review. Pleasantly surprised by it - I thought I'd enjoy it anyway but I really had a blast with it. It knew just how to play OP protagonists that are always five steps ahead without making them completely grating.

Will be really sad if this never gets a season 2.

More reason to then read the light novel it based on if it don't

EDIT: Okay, so I can see it does. Still not particularly sold on it though. Half my enjoyment of the show was based on the visuals so I can't see novels having the same effect.

Novel have of visual in pages show cases what happening well that Japanese dunno if translation keep the picture page. Yea light novel have been get high damn latly

The Light Novels are fine, but they lack the visual flair that makes the anime a blast. Like the chess gaem between the siblings and Chlammy is a normal game of chess in the book, but in the anime its the really awesome Wizard's Chess-esque battle.

A picture doesn't convey the same sense as a moving image though. No Game No Life isn't something like Bakemonogatari where a lot of it relies heavily on dialogue (though that show is equally beautiful) - Madhouse did a really good job of making the show stand out even though half the side characters just have cliche fantasy designs. Sora's monologues could still be carried out well in print but I'm just skeptical I'd be able to immerse myself in the world as much.

Yeah, exactly what I expected then :(

One punch man has been amazing as I have caught up with everything so far of the anime, hoping for inevitable season two after this arc.

The books are still perfectly fine though. You just don't get Steph bashing her head and going "WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY!" or Sora and Shiro channeling their inner Jojo.

I watched a bit of Astro boy 2003, well that was fun.

I enjoyed that one shame voice for Astro apparently was not allowed to try out for cgi Astro boy film

I'm a bit behind Akame Ga Kill on Toonami since I've been busy with my finals. I'm still liking the show. I really like seeing more of Esdeath since I really love how Esdeath is a master of torture and genocide. Her personality is really good and seeing more about her was very enjoyable.

I also catch up with Dragon Ball Super. Seeing Ginyu return was very fun and enjoyable. However Piccolo's death was really terrible and lazy. They just rehash his death when he died from Nappa and did it again. The worst death in the series in a while in my opinion. I thought Krillin's death in GT was pretty bad too.

Finally got around to the latest Akito the Exiled movie.

Meh. Still don't really care about Akito and company. At least it wasn't as bad as the last one. Stupid boring gypsies...

Comet Lucifer is stupid.

edit: I was like "who writes this shit" so I looked it up and the guy apparently wrote a bunch of episodes for Eureka Seven. That may explain why Comet Lucifer feels like such a shitty discount version of, indeed, Eureka Seven. What a rip.

Sorry for the double finally caught this week episode of comet lucifer it I enjoyed it. Yea it typical trope I saw coming bad guy that fough good guys help him out for other reason while hero goes save his love interest. That. Might be what I like bout the art look beautiful for me and mech design as well and seeing moura as a human was a bounus cause never saw it coming. But I might be in the minority that like the show but can not wait for finale

New Fist of the North Star: It was pretty good, but I still like the original Fist of the North Star from the 80's better in my opinion. I felt like the characters in the original TV series was done better here in this OVA series. I also wish New Fist of the North Star was more then three episodes. Not to mention each episode is a hour long and there are moments in it that are pretty boring. However the final final fight was pretty awesome and this OVA did had a lot of violent content which the original television show lacked. The 2D animation is pretty solid and well animated most of the time. However the CG in this anime is god awful. It may have looked good back in 2003 or 2004, but it looks bad now. There is CG for a lot of things in this anime that is not necessary. Remember how early PS2 animation look in Final Fantasy X? It looks like that but a bit worst.

Overall, I like it but I still recommended checking out the original manga first. However if you can't get into old anime and watch to something more modern then New Fist of the North Star is still worth checking out. Grade: B-

I finished Lance N' Masques, Chivalry of a Failed Knight, The Asterisk War, and One Punch Man. They were all really good, especially Chivalry of a Failed Knight.

Been watching glitter force adaption dub of smile pre cures and after the first few episode it really fun saban brand best dub I think they dub since entertainment days when dub digimon.

I am loving glitter force adaption dub grows on me and I love how they made a 3 day and two night Kyoto trip by look of thing in to an Japanese or Asian expo

I saw the new episode of Dragon Ball Super and this is probably the most boring episode in a while. It's just Goku and Freeza fighting and that's it. The animation looks off too. Only one month to go until we get original content in the show for once.

That's when it might get me to watch again both retelling I drop show cause I could not be asked with it at same time it might cause dragon ball not intresting for no more this fact that dragon ball ant my first anime like most people

The Champa saga starts on January 24 2016 just in time for the 30th anniversary of the first DB anime. I also catch up to Akame Ga Kill on Toonami. I do like how things are going. I hear fans got upset that they skip things from the manga and that the show got low ratings which cause the animators to changes to the show. I do plan on reading the manga once I finish the show.

I'm up to episode 31 of Futari wa Precure. So far it's...I dunno. Okay. Starting to feel it could have and maybe should have ended at episode 26. As if I didn't have enough to be annoyed by with Mepple, now there's that little shit Porun, who is, well, a little shit. Seriously, I've seen the criticism of annoying fairies leveled at this franchise as a whole, but I didn't mind them in HeartCatch or Princess at all. In this series they just piss me off. Mipple I don't mind, but she does and is featured so little that it doesn't do anything to offset the other two. And...eh. Tons of Porun focus lately so it isn't like I can try to ignore it.

Bringing the Dark King back after just 5 episodes also feels kinda dumb, and the whole thing a little pointless.

All in all, not bad necessarily but that Porun is ruining it for me.

In other news I'm up to episode 7 of Princess Tutu. This series is great. I love the art, the voice acting, and the story and characters are fascinating and well done. I knew basically nothing about it going in and it's really made it very interesting.

What else, what else...I finished Canaan? It was a thing I guess. Good moments, good characters (Yun Yun is waifu material if I ever saw it, also if I didn't find waifus dumb. Also that one crazy oneesama girl whose name I've already forgotten. Descents into madness are fun so I was into her story too). It was also superbly gay, which is nice. Ultimately didn't leave much of an impression on me, but it was fun enough.

It originally was going to do that. The popularity of the series is what caused it to get a full year run. And thus the franchise was born.

Mad Bull 34: I never saw much of this anime until recently. I finally finish all four episodes of this anime and I'm glad that I watch this anime. This anime is very violent, sleazy as hell, cheesy and over the top. I loved every goddamn minute of this anime and I'm very happy that I bought this anime on DVD a while back. This anime has everything that you could want in a cheesy anime from the late 80's and early 90's. Violence, blood, guts, sex, cheesy voice acting and badass characters. This anime is a non stop thrill ride from start to finish.

I never read the manga, so I cannot compare it to the anime. However the anime does want me to read the manga soon. Besides this anime being violent, sleazy and cheesy, there are good legit moments in this anime too. The two main characters are likable and I did care about them. Sleepy aka Mad Bull is probably the coolest cop in any anime that I've seen. He is like if John McClane and Machete fuse into one. The last episode was surprising good and it took me by surprise. The animation is not bad for an old anime, but it could have looked much better in my opinion. The music was pretty good because it fits with the tone that this anime is going for.

Discotek Media finally put out this anime on DVD since it was only released by Manga Entertainment on VHS for 20 years. Discotek did a good job on cleaning up the anime since there was no way else on watching the anime other than bad VHS tapes recordings on Youtube. If you like cheesy action movies from the 80's, old school violent anime or a anime that you want to watch for mindless fun, I would recommend you check this out. This is not a good anime by all means, you have to watch this anime knowing that it's going to be trashy fun. Grade: B+ (Guilty Pleasure for sure)

So, the Macross Delta special is out and well... it's ballsy, it's kind of flat out bananas, I felt nostalgic, I laughed, I got excited, I felt wowed, then I cringed, boy did I cringe, I scratched my head and then I felt awe.

We didn't see much of the cast so far, Freyja is excitable as expected, i think the actress is doing a good job, even if that personality type might not be for everyone, the main guy Hayate is someone that isn't exactly in love with life or has any particular passion, kind of a change from the usual role, and we got a Jenius in the cast.

Valkyrie sequences are pretty great, the CG isn't amazing but in motion it works, there is some neat tech upgrades for the mechs without feeling too much a of a jump from Frontier, and it seems we'll have lots of Fighter vs Fighter sequences which isn't exactly common in Macross.

Then we have Walkure... boy was that over the top. :lol In fact it seems they intentionally raised it to 11 for shock value, since afterwards we got a regular fight sequence, I'm not crazy about the idols jumping around in the battle but they have room to hopefully explain that, Walkure is super showy and it oozes style, and will definitely be the most controversial aspect.

I had fun, I assumed from early on that this would be to Frontier what 7 was to the original, and it definitely seems to be the case, so expect some degree of crazyness.

The Devilman OVA's dubs are awful even from Manga Entertainment. Manga Entertainment is known for so bad it's good type of dubs. The two Devilman OVA"s from the late 80's are pretty faithful adaptions of the first part of the manga. Some of the changes didn't bother me that much.

Just finished Spice and Wolf the other night, it was excellent. Very unique fantasy setting that focused heavily on economics, which is not something you see very often. The main draw though was the chemistry and dynamic between the two leads, it did a great job of not falling into the usual cliches that you would expect from romance in anime. Their interactions and dialogue just felt so natural, even though the story itself could be a little slow at times it didn't even matter. Just watching their interactions and seeing how naturally their relationship developed was worth it in and of itself.

This show is absolutely the model other anime should look to for how to successfully portray a meaningful relationship between two well-developed and likable characters.

Ayane's High Kick - I never saw this anime before. I remember seeing a ad for it at a local Sam Gody as a kid back in the late 90's. Now almost 20 years later, I got the chance to sit down and watch it. While it's nowhere as good as Hajime no Ippo or Baki the Grappler, I still find it to be a enjoyable anime. The animation was good, the soundtrack was great and the anime had fun characters. My biggest issue with this game is that it's way too short. It's only two episodes and I really did want to see what happens next. The final episode ends with a cliffhanger and we never knows on what happens next. Not to mention the final battle feels very anticlimactic. There was a lot of build up to the final boxing match and it just ends poorly without spoiling too much way. The dub is alright. It’s nothing special, but nothing awful. Better then what most of Central Park Media dubbed around that time.

This anime feels like a pilot anime to lead up to more episodes which did not happen. Had this been a 8 episode OVA series or 25 episode TV series then I would give it a much higher rating. If you are into sports anime then you may like this anime. Grade: C+
