I tend to blame Fourze, which is a show that I really enjoy but also the one that really went all in on stuff looking like silly toys.

Not really, most Ultraman shows are very standalone. There's one aspect of it that will mean more if you've seen Orb, but that's more of a bonus than a necessity.

I think this is a good reason to praise the Wizard, whose silver gunblade looked almost like a real weapon.

I loved Wizard when it aired, I understand there has been some Wizard revisionism in recent years in toku circles and people like Wizard now?

Personally, I missed the period when it was called the "worst rider`s show". Now, according to my feelings, viewers maybe don?t like the Wizard, but they definitely don`t hate it. At least I've seen a lot of upset comments that Wizard didn't get the anniversary movie.

So I'm in two minds about this. The moral is very clearly "To be someone's friend, you have to accept them as they are", which isn't necessarily bad. And Gentarou isn't going to pretend JK's not a dick, he's not that naive. But JK is just so cartoonishy a jerk! He steals the Elek Switch for no reason other then "Lol, lmao", and as Gentarou points out, he almost deserves what Ultraman Victory is about to do to him. But I'm willing to cut the kid some slack. He's seen how his version of life pays off (Being killed by a Unicorn), versus Gentaou's support network. He's got room to grow. I just hope he does, because "I'll let you abuse me becase I know you're like that but I'm your friend so I'll deal with it"... it's not a healthy mindset to instill in kids. I've seen that go nuclear before.

As for Elek States, it's fine. I'm not the biggest fan of yellow Fourze, but it does the job in being different enough and not looking overtly overpowered yet, considering we're only six episodes in. Granted, modern Rider shows would probably have like 5 new costumes in that time, but shush. Also, really liking Mio's dynamic here with Kengo and Yui.

JK is easily my least liked character in Fourze. And it'll speak for itself as to why over and over again.

I generally like the guy, even if he makes it hard to sometimes. My least favorite character is easily late-series Yuki.

I can definitely see me liking him once he gets a little more screentime - his bit at the end about opening the Rabbit Hutch as a theme park or whatever is pretty funny - but it's a rough first outing. At this rate, I expect it to be revealed Shun kicks puppies during football training or something*.

* Gentarou will say this is bad, but he supports his friend's desire to train in the way that he learns best.

I've decided to rewatch 555 as it's been over a decade and I remember embarassingly little, currently 4 episodes in, Takumi's starting to warm up to Mari and jesus christ poor Yuka

I think a rewatch is perfect considering it turned 20 this year and all the reveals that happened not too long ago.
