*Sighs*
I'd love for a Wing Form Figuart...I don't know why it's not released, yet, either. I guess as punishment for my thinking Den-O was just "Okay." |
Ooo episode 3, i couldn't take the fight seriously, it was silly.
|
Den-O 16. As I think this is where I left the series last. It was kinda dumb for me to take my break half way through an arc, as I have no clue what is going on here.
Plus, was the show always this...goofy? All the suits look very...suit like in a glorious rubberyness that I thought the franchise had progressed, and basically everyone in this show is an oddball, to the point where I couldn't take a single scene seriously. Especially Ryou's sister, who appears to have severe special needs. The fight with Sword Form at the end was epic though, but that is because Sword and Axe form are both pure awesome anyway, even if Momo is really starting to get on my nerves now. |

Also, I'm guessing you picked back up during the hostage arc? The next arc isn't as dumb. |
I think Gun Form was introduced in like episode 12? He's been around for a while, he seemed kinda cool at first, but then that stupid break dancing started to pull all the drama out of scenes and really got on my tits.
It kinda reminds me of Wizard in how they just piled on the goofy characters until everyone was so goofy they just all cancelled one another out until everyone was either flat or annoying. At least they rewrote Nitou into a fucking boss for the final run of the series. But yeah, it was the hostage arc. |

Den-O may be more cartoonish, but it's not without it's epic moments, and there are some badass fellas in that show.
It's funny that Den-O is unashamedly light-hearted when it followed after Kabuto, and intensely serious show. Quote:

The only thing I dont care for in Den-O is Kai. He was nothing for a villian, they couldve played on Ryuutaros beibg a villian after his intro episode.
|
Kai was a worthless final villain for that show. They really could have come up with something better.

Zeronos/yuuto definitely had the better story. As for Den-O as a whole, I enjoyed it but they dropped the ball with the ending. Kai felt so emo and pointless, would have been interesting to see what they had in mind if Hanna's actress didn't have to leave, like the original plot sort of thing =\

Black 24. The episode where all Golgom wanted to be, was swimming in bitches and Kotaro met the Guardians of Universe, as presented in the style of a 60s B-Movie. It's kinda hard not to enjoy something this awful but when I see what Kamen Rider grows into, it's disappointing that there are so many opportunities for great character moments or epic stories that they just waste so they can repeat the same fight scene over and over again.
Still, on the other hand, it blows me away how good the monster suits are in this show, with most Heisei suits looking much faker and much tackier. It's a shame most of the mutants in this show don't get to do a lot, because those suits deserve so much more, for how much effort clearly went into them. The same can be said for Kotaro, he is probably one of the best Riders ever, as most Riders are so passive and unengaging but Kotaro is so active and never relies solely on his powers to get him through everything, so why create such an amazing Rider and then give him fuck all to do outside of fight scenes? He has so much at stake in his battle with Golgom, but about the most you see him do outside of action is sit at a counter and look into space. Still, for both its age, and small Kamen Rider budget, the action scenes in this are usually impressive, especially with how much is done out of suit which is pretty much never done in modern Rider. Was this weeks mutant a teacher in another Kamen Rider show? I swear I recognised him. |
Den-O 17. Ah, a much more story focused episode. That Sawada chick is cute as hell, although not nearly as much of a babe as Hana is, even though Hana shouldn't really be as sexually appealing as she is. I saw a lot of myself in Sawada though, who appeared to be going through exactly what I am lately. I dunno how much the kiddies would really care though.
If Ryou had to get rid of one form, get rid of Rod, his combat abilities are useless and all he is gonna get Ryou is a venereal disease. Speaking seriously, the choice to draw attention to how many forms Ryou has and the way each form has a tendency to cancel out the other, really highlights one of my main problems with the show. With Axe form, you no longer really needed Sword Form. And with Gun Form, you no longer really needed Rod Form (although you never needed that form). I think this show would have worked so much better, if the only Imagin Ryou got was Momo and maybe Ryuu as like an internal dark Imagin sorta like Hollow Ichigo style, while Axe and Rod got to be their own, separate Riders. This weeks Imagin looked cool as hell though, and I swear I recognised his actor. And it was also cool to see Ryou try and do something himself, for once, even if that meant fighting in his useless base form. |
I like Rod form's design, but yeah, it doesn't serve much of a purpose. Even the weapon, which is a fishing rod, is treated like a staff, which functions no different than sword form. Even Rod Form's theme song is lame compared to the others.
Although I like the other forms because they keep the action varied, minus rod of course. Also the Imagin was voiced by the same guy who did GaoGaiGar's voice. |

At least say, Fourze or OOO, each form had a unique identity and power set beyond what it was armed with. Hell, even Kuuga with all its shittiness, gave each form a unique purpose and power to give a reason for him having so many (at least until they started over upgrading everything like they thought they were Apple). |
Let's just say they do it better than, for example, the time Sword Form fought a flying Imagin and switched to rod form to have the range. The extra three feet of range needed to hit it, apparently. (ignoring that Sword form's sword blade, y'know, detaches and flies at enemies)

But I mean the way they had her story goin, and how she ended up being the kid of Sakurai and Airi That might have worked better had the original actress stayed, that and Momotaros and the group wouldnt have looked like idiots with a little girl beating them up... |
I watched Hibiki episode 2, and it did feel a bit different but I still liked it, I'm still trying to figure out what to watch next.

I always took Diend summoning THE Momo as something for comedic effect rather than an insight into his powers.

It was a joke. Nothing else to it. |
Watched 555 Episode 5 during my Kamen Rider Roulette and really enjoyed it. I feel like I can relate to Takumi with the Self-confidence issues. Love the Faiz suit a lot. Also enjoying the Orphenoch a lot and the characters. I'm working my way backwards in chronological order so Agito is next on my list.

Started downloading Kuuga and Hibiki.
I'll watch whichever is more interesting. |

Because Kuuga is one of the series I've seen literally nothing of, I can't really comment on the hype or tone.
But seeing as how hype has both been proven right (Blade) and wrong (Den-O), I don't know what to expect with Kuuga or Hibiki. |
Watched 3 or 4 more episodes of blade today, so I've just finished 43. I really do like the series but I just can't bring myself to watch much more than that a day. That and I'm trying to catch up with other things...
Anyway, Mutsuki's arc is done now I guess, that was wrapped up quite nicely. Not much more to go and it's nice that everyone is working toget... Oh wait.. Well they will be soon, maybe... |

I've only ever seen the first episode of Agito, and it was unsubbed, so I don't know much about it.

I just rewatched W A-to-Z for fun, and forgot how awesome that movie was. It's a shame it takes place so late in the show's continuity and spoils a lot, as I think it's better than the W half of the Decade crossover. (which I still like, BTW. It has really strong character bits and introduces Skull afterall) I forgot how great the action overall is. It's rare to see such extensive wire work in Kamen Rider that doesn't look so obviously wirework. (though some of the bike chase bits looked a bit obvious) But the regular hand-to-hand stuff is wicked, and visceral. Hell, anytime Joker was on screen was friggin' perfect in terms of action and choreography.
If I had to pick anything I didn't like, it' be the villains. Well, half the villains. Eternal is no better than I remember as a character, and his suit still stinks to high hell. Also the Trigger Dopant could have been an awesome villain, but the character just comes off as trying too hard and the suit looks really dumb compared to the other main dopants that are sleak and/or minimalist in design, like Heat. It doesn't look like an agile marksman or a trick-shotting cool guy, it barely even evokes "gun" outside it's gun arm. Also the more 'cinematic' look sometimes looks epic, sometimes look desaturated and weird. Also the OOO cameo is still weird to me. Almost moreso after actually watching OOO. |
