...Holy shit:
Turns out that IBO does have beam technology that Mobile Armors used and the nano laminate armor was created so Mobile Suits could fight them. so IBO's suits are the Hyaku Shiki and Akatsuki on crack.:lol |

Man IBO's getting good. The only thing I don't like was the total tease of Vidar just leaving after dramatically confronting McGillis. Shouldn't have cliffhanger'd an ep with them meeting only to not fight.
So apparently Gundams automatically max out performance-wise when confronting a Mobile Armour, which we'll hopefully see next ep. Sadly Gusion seems out of the fight because seeing two Gundams go all-out on the Hashmal would be awesome. I really wish Gusion wasn't kept leashed narratively so much. It's so cool, and Akihiro is one of my favourite characters, and the one time it did get the spotlight was the best fight of the season! But it's either constantly being used as barely effective artillery, or otherwise restrained. Now it's running around with those two giant cannons Barbatos used to use, and while it looks awesome, it accomplished nothing the cheapo mass-produced suits didn't. Also, Flauros is Ryusei-Go IV, and his custom Shiden was Ryusei-Go III. So... what was Ryusei-Go II, then? |

sorry for the photo dump XD but here's my SD Try Burning Gundam and my HG 1/144 GF13-050NSW Nobell Gundam. Again no painting but I did attempt to panel line the SD with a mechanical pencil and used the .7mm lead in it but it was a good bit too thick.

Been working on painting my Gyancelot, really wanted to see what I'd look like done up in silvers, metalics, and a little dry brushing:

It's not an Earth shattering retcon, but it is one. |
I feel like Bandai should create a Build-Your-Own Gunpla line where you pick the base model (Based on Scale and Grade of course) then proceed to customize it with either other parts from the other kits or with some specially made parts that they offer. Also sending some pain in the colors of your choice and a brush or two and just gauge the price accordingly would be a great thing to do. That way you don't have to be some sort of crafting genius to make a custom gunpla. Although I do see the appeal in the traditional way I just feel like its a bit out of reach for those who want an awesome looking model like that but are on a budget.

Pretty much all IBO kits' parts can be freely interchanged with each other same with the Revive line and the Build Custom and Iron Blooded Arms sets are things like backpacks, hands and weapons. |

Also budget is only really an issue if you're paying inflated import prices. In general HG kits are pretty cheap.

http://i.imgur.com/WFsrJvW.png It's really easy to make custom Gunpla these days, especially if as said previously, you're into IBO. In fact, rather frustratingly, some of the less notable suits of season 2 are only available by customizing using option parts, like the Landman Rodi. |

Almost done! Just got some drybrushing and weathering left to do. |
Shit is getting intense in epiaode 13 of season 2 of IBO. Mika being paralyzed on his right side and Hush having to carry him around is both pathetic, strong and funny all at once. I don't know, I just found it really funny for this serious mech show to have a character carry another one around.
Not as much freakout by the fanbase about Atra wanting Kudelia to have a kid with Mika as I was expecting. |
I think that's because Atra just doesn't understand how these things work because of her age.
But yeah, Mika (and Barbatos) paid a heavy price for that victory. Mika seemingly low-key craving Barbatos I'm sure will escalate. And with this all, McGillis seems inspired to pull out a game changer of his own. I wonder if Barbatos is going to be overhauled again, or just repaired. (TBF, there's nothing wrong with the Lupus design, and I'm sure the engineers at Saisei will just return it to normal) Interesting that we still don't know if McGillis actually beleived Gaelio dead, but Gaelio clearly is planning a long game. I guess this makes it more clear that the Vidar facade isn't really about keeping his identity from McGillis, but it allows him to operate outside the Seven Stars rules as it was. He can't be held accountable if he's 'dead.' |

I was wondering about that scene between Isurugi and McGills talking about what happened to Galeio, I was almost expecting them to say something about knowing different but it didn't go anywhere. I never thought about Vidar as a way to operate outside of the Seven Stars though. I have a feeling for some reason that once IBO is over, I could see a sequel movie like Awakening of the Trailblazer being greenlit. I dunno, I feel like the mobile armor stuff is too good to not delve into more, albeit with a plot just focused on beating them and not involving political scheming. Plus a bigger budget. We can see what happens after IBO, we can get some cool action scenes without worrying too much about the plot, and we could get more flashbacks to the Calamity War. |

The only problem with that, is that it's become clear that Orga can get in tough with the head of Teiwaz whenever he needs to, so their can't really be disruptions within Teiwaz. That's the entire reason the pimp guy is working with GH, because he can't do anything to Tekkedan as a fellow Teiwaz.
As for the Hashmal's amrour, it clearly isn't any better than the Lupus', since it got torn apart. And even still, the Hashmal's amrour isn't designed to fit on a Gundam frame. Also, the model kits can't do it, which was the entire point of the parts stealing in season 1. |
...I really want another Super Robot Gundam show.

So, in most respects, this thing puts the old MSiA to shame- or at least what I remember of it, given that it's been along time since I handled it. Far superior range of motion, sturdier material, nicer handfeel (DAMN YOU VANGELUS), pointier pointy bits, and holy crap that anti-ship sword (Guess I need a Freedom now), and of course, much sharper details. Bad news is that it misses a few points the 10 years-old version had, which I notice is an unfortunate recurring issue in the RD line. Namely, it can't separate into its component "Flyer" parts, lacks a full version of the Core Splendor or Silhouette Flyer, and the lack of a way to store the Folding Razors in the hips. Still, it's a huge upgrade on the MSiA as it well should be, and you get plenty from it. Also includes an adapter piece for use with the Destiny Silhouette from the Destiny Impulse, and appears compatible with the WIZARD pack from Lunamaria's ZAKU Warrior going by the box art. No idea if it's backwards compatible with the Striker Packs, but... Well, maybe someday I'll find out. Need to find a cheap Strike Gundam first. All in all, well worth it for a Gundam fan of any stripe. Even if you hate Destiny like I do. |
Well my gundam markers and Matte coat should be here by friday and then my gundams should be nice and purty from here on out XD At least thats the hope
|
Meticulously (sp? lol) going through the thruster bells on the HG Psycho Zaku that need to be painted white. And gluing them in. These are so tiny and losable. This High Mobility Zaku could go to zero mobility with one shelf tumble. :lol

I'd love another Gundam series that was actually super robot, and not just Beyblade with Gundams. G Gundam was one of my favourites for its pure outlandish ideas within a universe full of those. Build Fighters was just outlandish because toys, and wasn't as funny or interesting because they were all just model kits in universe.
|
I really like G Gundam too because the show was over the top fun. It was nice to have a Gundam show that didn't take itself too seriously. I remember when fans hated G Gundam for years, now people either like it or hate it.

Got my first ever MSIAs Noble and Dark Noble Gundam.
|
We spent the day rewatching the first two discs to Victory Gundam so that we can finally move past the material we saw back in August. The beginning was still slow, but the out of order episodes did not throw me of this time around. There are things I also caught this time around that I didn't notice last time (such as Shahkti's song that Cronicle hears), but I still can not believe they made the episode where we finally meet the top dog of the Zanscare Empire a ****ing clipshow. Not only that, but outside of the first minute and last minute, the episode was an utter waste of time to sit through. I hate it when Gundam series pull this crap. Anyway, the enjoyment level has been raised quite a bit since the initial viewing of these discs.
Another thing I noticed are some parallels it has with F91. The smaller mobile suits, the baby whose mom is killed in the opening city attack, the female lead being the daughter to the villain leader, and Uso's parents being involved in the war so much so that they are pretty much absent from taking care of him. The only thing missing if a cheap imitation of the Imperial March. :D |

I got through another batch of Victory episodes today.
First off, TIRES IN SPAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace. Dumbest Mobile Suits ever! Seriously, who was the idiot at Bandai that said, "Hey, you know what we need to see in outer space? Mobile Suits with tires!" YEAH BECAUSE THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE!!!! UGH!!! At least Marbet brought up that very point. Secondly, my god, that brings a whole new meaning to stripping a prisoner down. :D Talk about wanting the naked truth. If you don't know what I mean, this one villain lady takes a bath with Uso to interrogate him. WHAT THE ****?! I don't get the Japanese. They have no problem with antics like this, but heaven forbid if two guys kiss each other. Creepniess aside, the whole thing was hilarious. Anyway, this show keeps getting better and better as it goes along. I've been introduced to the new version of the Victory, but so far it doesn't seem to be all that much different. I do wish we had more development for the Zanscare soldiers though. I'm 32 episodes in and the most exciting thing Cronicle has done was complain about Earth's atmosphere. He is by far the lamest Char clone ever. Thankfully he is not the worst character in the show as that goes to Katejina. Good god I hope that selfish moron dies soon. She has done brought nothing to the show and has had absolutely no growth whatsoever. She makes Relena look good. She belongs right up there with Flay and Quess as most worthless female Gundam characters ever. Uso and all of his friends are a really likable bunch. I'm enjoying watching all of them work together. The animation for the most part is quite nice (still not as good as Zeta's though) and except for the tires and that centipede mobile armor thing I just saw, the mobile suits in this show are quite good. My favorite battle thus far goes to Uso's fight against the Zanscare commander with the huge mobile armor he had given oxygen tanks to in a previous episode. That one was great. Oh, and the music is pretty awesome too. That one tune that sounds like the strings of a violin is really really good. Back to Zanscare, or does Queen Maria seem to be more of a figurehead than an actual leader? She's the queen, but can't get rid of the guillotines, and avoided the question when Uso asked her about it. That's kind of interesting, which is why it is a shame they have yet to really do anything with them. So far I see no reason to support their side. One of the best things about the earlier UC shows is that they gave us reasons why both sides were in the right on some aspects, and in the wrong on others. Here, Zanscare is just in the wrong on all ends of the spectrum. My last complaint with the show is how predictable the character deaths are. There hasn't been one death that flags weren't raised up for. As a whole right now, this show is shaping up to being in my top 10 Gundam list. I'm really not sure why Tomino hates this show so much other than him being a crybaby about Bandai making him put toys in the thing (which was a thing since Gundam's inception). EDIT: Another 11 episodes watched today. The show continues to be enjoyable while at the same time, it continues to leave the villains underdeveloped. I did find it annoying that a ceasefire occurs only to have several factions blatantly ignore it, making the whole point pretty... well... pointless. The animation also seems to have gotten a little cheap in some areas. It's not bad, but not great either. Oh, and as much as I love the music, I do wish they would start having some new tunes emerge because it feels like they have just been recycling the same ones over for the last several episodes. Uso's dad is kind of a jackass too. Oh yeah, and did I mention the tires? God I hate those stupid things. First space, then water, then space again. Seriously, what the ****?! Anyway, the battles have been highly enjoyable and I absolutely love the V2, especially those wings that seem very reminiscent to the wings in Turn A. The voice cast continues to be a pleasure to listen to as they all have been doing a remarkable job. I've also recognize A LOT of the voices from other series, especially Toku. A lot has happened in these 11 episodes and holy shit, talk about being aHEAD of the game. :p Good stuff all around, I just wished the Zanscare were better developed. Not sure if we're going to watch the final disc tonight or tomorrow, we'll see. |
Well we decided to go ahead and just finish the last disc on this cold Jan evening.
I'm not sure where to start, but as a whole, this series was wonderful. Sure, it was slow moving and I'm pretty sure a good 15 episodes could have been cut out, but overall, it was very enjoyable. Uso and his band of merry misfits were a really great cast of characters who all played up on their strengths without really getting down into their bare bottom of their weaknesses. The comedy these guys provided was done really well as it always felt like the show knew when to be silly and when to be serious. The voice acting was all top notch and it was nice to see no one be treated like a total moron. If there is really any of the good guys I can complain about, it is how pointless Shahkti was for the vast majority of the show. The stuff they did with her in the end kind of redeemed that, but she really didn't need to exist at all and nothing would have changed as far as the main plot goes. Also, for being the child of Zanscare's queen, they didn't really do much with it. Speaking of Zanscare, they were the biggest negative to the entire show as they were nothing more than cookie cutter super villains that wanted to take over the world. There was no reasoning for it, they just wanted it because "We're evil." I've got nothing wrong with one dimensional villains like that, but the "villains" in Gundam are supposed to have a viewpoint that makes you consider why they may be in the right. Here, nope, none of that at all. None of these characters were developed in the slightest and most of them served no purpose. Faula had the potential to be this series' Haman Karn, but instead of utilizing that, she is gone for 80% of the series and doesn't accomplish anything when she is around. Cronicle is the worst Char clone ever as he too never accomplished anything and we saw nothing that motivates him to be a soldier at all. His biggest trait is that he's the brother to the queen. Oh, and Katejina is right up there with Quess, Relena, and Flay. Hell, she makes Relena look tolerable. Thankfully what this show lacks in character development for the villains it makes up for it with great visuals. Outside of certain drops in animation quality (and the fact that this show essentially has 3 partial clip shows), the animation as a whole was well done. It's not up to par with Zeta Gundam, but it's certainly better than the three series that succeeded it. Also, there were some truly enjoyable mech battles going on. The battle with The Tiger was by far the best fight in the show, but there were quite a lot of others that were intense, which were all enhanced thanks to the excellent soundtrack. Although, the constant reuse of the same tracks did get a little tiresome when it occured for a good chunk of episodes before somthing new was heard. The last negative for the show belongs to its character deaths as you pretty much knew what characters were going to die, even if it wasn't in that very same episode. That was kind of annoying because so many of them raised their death flags immediately. I think there was only one death that took me by surprise, and it was more so that it occured episodes later than I expected. Except the tire mecha that didn't make any sense in outer space (OR underwater,) the mobile suits of the show were pretty good. There wasn't anything that lives up to the Qubeley or the Hyaku Shiki, but they were still cool nonetheless. I did like the Zanscare ones from the beginning of the show that had the helicopter blades on their arm. The Victory itself wasn't bad, athough I liked the V2 more. In the end, Victory Gundam was a solid show despite the areas it dropped the ball in. I have no idea why Tomino hates this show so much when he turned out a solid entry for the most part. It's most definitely in my top 10, albeit closer to the #10. Nevertheless, I do look forward to revisiting it some day in the future after I've had some Gundam rest. Okay, that isn't happening any time soon with all of the BDs coming out, but my next show is going to be IBO, which I'm hoping to start this weekend. Crunchyroll, you better not crash!! |
