So I´m thinking about getting into Gunpla with the new Gundam Build Fighters Try line. Is there anything to know for a newbie like me before getting started? Like do I need special tools or paint?

HGs and SDs are the way to go for new modlers as those are the most simplistic and cheapest.

In terms of tools, all you really need is something sharp and a sanding stick. When I started, all I used was a pair of sharp scissors before up grading to nippers, nippers will give you a cleaner cut.

Would a normal nail file do the trick as well?

It all depends on the strength of the file, but I have used those in the past with no problem.

Finally got back the desire to build a kit again as I eyed my unbuilt Tallgeese III. Pretty standard fare for a wing MG, but it's nature as a third party/KO kit leaves some fittings to be desired. All in all it is quite enjoyable to get back in the hobby.

Built RG Exia last week before Uni started and I must say it is one awesome kit. Just need to get Strike Freedom and then maybe I'll go for the other ones I skipped like one of the Zakus, MKIIs, GP01s, Zeta and Z'Gok. Definitely got my eye on the Z'Gok though for its uniqueness.
