Started to catch up on some anime that i have been meaning to check out just got finished watching the latest EP of Myriad Colors Phantom World and i got to say i am really enjoying it! now i move on to Dagashi Kashi
|
Watching Gurren Lagann and Mobile Suit Gundam (1979)
|
Well, Durarara!! is finally over. This last season was probably its weakest; I found a lot of character motivations a little out there and it was harder to invest interest. Definitely would recommend watching all of x2 together and not the disjointed mess that was its actual airing, because I felt I lost some connections.. But the final conclusion? Yeah it was okay. Kind of satisfied with it.
This morning I started Erased now that it's done as well. Two in and it's pretty interesting. |
Still working my way through One Piece. Almost at the end of the Arlong arc. Definitely the best arc so far, much better than the Baratie arc.
Thinking about watching Doamayger D. I mean, it's a 12 episode short form anime, so there isn't much to lose. |
I honestly can't even wrap my head around how incredibly terrible Divine Gate was. Quite possibly the single, objectively worst anime I have ever had the displeasure of watching. Really incredible.

Is it that horrendous? |

So I mean, yeah, it's so incompetent in basically every respect that if you watch just to riff on it fun times can be had, but still, man, it's just a really awful show. |
Still watching Kill La Kill and I picked up Volume 1 of the manga at my nearby Barnes & Noble.
|
Oh yeah, Divine Gate aside, most every show I was watching has ended. Just waiting on Dagashi Kashi now, though I have yet to watch the last episodes of Dimension W and Koyomimonogatari.
Erased was alright. In retrospect there were some pretty peculiar and unnecessary things and ultimately the thing as a whole just feels...incomplete? I think they needed more time to really tell the story properly cause after the Hinazuki stuff it all starts feeling pretty rushed. The villain's motivations were just a lot of nothing. Koukaku no Pandora surprised me. I wasn't really enjoying it for...like, the whole time I was watching it, but the last two episodes or so...that shit was fun. The last episode was just really fun and satisfying as a conclusion. Which is interesting considering I was never even invested in the story. So I'll give it props for that. It wasn't really a good show, but in the end it proved itself entertaining enough. Oshiete! Galko-chan was fun. Fun, colorful, charming at times, had consistent art quality and it even had a Mole Beastman cameo, so, you know, I'm legally obligated to declare this as my favorite anime now. I'm probably gonna buy the manga when it comes out. Sekko Boys was also pretty funny and overall fun. It's so rare to have watched shorts I actually liked this season. Durararararararararara was a show I watched, I am pretty sure. Probably. Honestly it lost me a while ago. I liked Shou, but in the two seasons since my interest and investment has just gone lower and lower the longer it's gone on. Probably even lower at the end than it was for the first season, which I didn't really care for either. They really should have aired x2 in one go. |
Aaand already finished Erased. Loved it!
|
Caught up on Dagashi Kashi really glad i did, very funny and entertaining. I also watched the last Ep of Myriad Colors Phantom World today really nice ending and a great way to close off the show, i just wish there was more of it now. next up i think i will start Erased since i hear a lot of good things

Finally got to the last episodes of Dimension W and Koyomimonogatari.
Dimension W had an ok ending for what it was, I still really don't like the show though. The last episode of Koyomi sent my opinion hurtling from "Man I hope we get Owari Second Season within the next year" to "Holy HELL give me Owari now!" So that's something. Another fun entry into this series. |
Just watched episode 20 of Mirai Nikki.
Good lord I hate this anime. I couldn't even enjoy seeing Nishijima finally die. Too little too late. After this episode, that fucker may just be my most hated character in this series, and there is some stiff god damn competition. Though it's probably still just Yuno. And the rest of the cast. They are all pretty awful. |
Space Patrol Luluco is more trigger random comedy in the vein of Hackadoll and the like.
And it's pretty good! It's hilarious and I love that kind of short anime. Diamond is Unbreakable was my first time watching JoJo, and honestly the anime is really fun, all those effects make it pretty fun. DiU is my favorite of the 6 first manga arcs, so this'll be fun. Mayoiga is an anime with an interesting premise, there's 30 or so people going to a secret vilalge to get a new start on life. But the whole first episode is set on a bus and they dared to waste it all on raodtrip stuff like singing, and it was really bad. Never played Ace Attorney, but a lighthearted court series is really unique, and Phoenix's reactions to the rest of the cast are a blast. Gundam Unicorn is back as a TV show, yay, I'll watch it dubbed this time for variety sake, thanks Daisuki. Re:Zero is... actually pretty interesting, they could have handled the pacing a bit better, even moreso since they had two episodes, but once the plot starts properly it becomes really engaging. Macross Delta is back with a slightly modified version of the New Year's preview, the new battle was fairly exciting and helps give Hayate an identity, and well, after 3 months it's easier to accept Walkure. So... pretty good season so far. Which is ironic given the fact I don't want or plan to spend much time on it this time. |
Oh yeah, spring season is a thing that is starting.
Luluco is fun times, hits the sweet spot for a short series time-wise too. Not too short, not too long. Decent start. Mayoiga has too many characters and I don't know how they're gonna do anything with them in just 12 eps, but I guess we'll see. I wasn't wowed by the first episode at all however. Kuma Miko seems fun enough. I hope we see more "Sexual Harassment!" in the future, because that girl is hilarious. I also watched the Bakuon!! OVA to see if I was interested in watching the anime: I was not. But I probably will read the manga at some point. I like manga. Manga can't jiggle. That's it for my Spring so far, just waiting on Sakamoto and Kiznaiver now. |
I haven't watched an anime series since PaSwG ended, but since there was some behind-the-scenes crossover and the wonderful Mao Ichimichi was in it I decided to give Luluco a try. The first episode was pretty darned entertaining. Good stuff.
|
Yeah I enjoyed Luluco. It's standard Hiroyuki Imaishi stuff, which suits me fine but clearly won't be everyone's tastes. Gotta say, his comedy style really suits 10-minute episodes though.
Ace Attorney was....okay? As an adaptation I guess it did the game justice, but such a slavish adaptation without the interactive element doesn't really make for a very gripping anime. Macross Delta's first episode was fun, though my opinion hasn't really changed since seeing the preview at the beginning of the year. Found myself humming one of the songs all day today though so that's a start :lol Just gotta check out Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress, Kiznaiver and Sailor Moon now. Was going to try and squeeze My Hero Academia in there too but don't want to take on too many shows. Will probably wait on that one. |

This is overall one of the worst seasons I've seen in a while. Last season was pretty bad as well, but Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju was so excellent that it made up for everything else. Erased was great too, at least up until it took the most predictable turn possible and tanked itself for the last few episodes. This has just been a rough couple of seasons. |
I've been in the Gundam thread I've forgotten to even post here. So in the last 3 weeks I have watched:
Gundam Gundam 08th MS Team Gundam 0083 Zeta Gundam TV Zeta Gundam Movies Gundam 00 TV & movie |
Made it to episode 61 of One Piece. They just got into the Grand Line. Decided to take a break and finish up RahXephon. I forgot how confusing that show was. Everything is so fast paced compared to One Piece too, it's kind of weird.

Anime that I finished in the last week.
Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman - This was a very enjoyable crossover. I'm surprise that this got dubbed on Netflix given how niche of a anime that it is. Very little people in the US knows about Devilman. Cyborg 009 is somewhat well known for airing on Toonami like several years ago, but hardly a mainstream title. The plot is your typical crossover plot (Two heroes fighting each other at first and end up teaming up to beat up a common enemy), but I thought they handle it pretty well. I really like how they handle the characters and the English dub was pretty good. The animation was solid too. I still wish for a proper anime adaption of the Devilman manga from start to finish. Overall I was still happy with this anime and I plan to watch it again. Grade: B Golgo 13: The Professional - I only seen a few episodes of the recent Golgo 13 TV series and I really like it. I plan to watch the rest of the Golgo 13 TV series soon. While I put the Golgo 13 TV series on hold (It's over 50 episodes), I decided to check out the movie from 1983. I personally like this movie. I still think Duke Togo is one of the greatest anime badass hero ever. The action was top notch and Duke Togo really stole the whole movie for me. The pacing is actually very good and nothing in this anime felt boring. The animation had a really dark and sezzy feel to it which I felt like it was perfect for the movie's tone. I also felt like the English dub was pretty good. A little wooden at times, but not bad at all. For things I didn't like about the movie was the CG. This movie was one of the first anime that used CG and I laugh how badly it looks now. In 1983, it looked great but not 33 years later. The CG scene came out of nowhere and made me go "WTF?!". I also felt like the story could have been a bit better. They could have freshen out the rest of the characters since the characters aren't really developed all that well. If this anime had a stronger plot, I would give this anime a A grade. This is a great movie to watch despite the flaws. Grade: B+ |
Watched the first episode to the new Sailor Moon Crystal season. So far it is a vast improvement over the first two arcs minus the opening song. The song just flat out sucks. That aside, it doesn't feel rushed (and the split the chapter into two parts), the animation seems to be superior, and the characters also seem to have a bit more personality to them.
|
Definitely agree there. The first episode was great and the characters actually felt like characters. Really looking forward to more now.
|
Watched it a few hours ago. Opening song wasn't that great. But the ending song was great! Can't wait for the next episode!!
|
I think independent of whether the anime as an anime has improved, Crystal will probably benefit from the fact that the manga really only gets better as it goes on.
Which is maybe not saying a lot, cause it was pretty dang mediocre in its first arcs. But still. The last few are pretty good. Still not really interested in watching a Sailor Moon anime though. |
Osomatsu San is hilarious
|
Episode 2 of the Ace attorney anime.
Pretty good so far as an adaptation of the second chapter of the first game, it's pretty neat to actually see Phoenix do these as opposed to in the game where you just see the events from his eyes. |
Sunred, are you watching Code Geass?
|
Finished Kill La Kill again last night.
I swear I'm getting obsessed with this anime, it's just that damn good! |

Besides being nearly done with Gundam Wing, we also watched more of the Sabaody arc to One Piece yesterday. Despite doing one chapter per episode, they didn't feel like they dragged on as much as they could have, which was nice.
