Oh yeah no I absolutely feel like this is the case given the MCU and some of the "costumes" it gives it's characters. They lean more towards tacticool and I really hate that styling tbh.

It's probably why I enjoy Rider and Sentai so much, they legitimately look like Superheroes and fill that void that live action has sorta felt embarrassed about for a good while.

While there are cases of this, all the MCU Spider-Men, Cap in Avengers 1, most of the Iron Man suits, Scarlet Witch from WandaVision, and either Captain Marvel suit really does not fall into that. Doctor Strange, while having darker colors, really doesn't fit that either. Hell Ant-Man, and YellowJacket in the MCU are basically Kamen Riders.

I will say there are some damn good costumes, but there are others that make me scratch my head. Do not enjoy what they did to Task Master honestly from what I've seen of his suit.

Fair enough. But I think that there are more good instances of brightly colored heroes than bad now.

My only issue with Taskmaster as a design (character is another issue entirely) are the goggles over the skull, which from my understanding is sadly necessary to market in some countries.

Apart from the first Spider-man suit, the rest of his suits deviate far. Iron Spider is filled with lines and greebles and looks nothing like the classic Iron Spider, Stealth is literally SHIELD military garb refitted onto spidey, and the newer suits are just... No.

Iron Man is Iron Man, but he was HEAVILY desaturated in IW and Endgame, Scarlet Witch deviates from source material too.

I said nothing about being true to source material, I said they had color. Of which Iron Spider, and his FFH suit do.

And yes Stealth is all black...because it's a stealth suit. That is literally it's point.

And yeah he said nothing about comic accuracy. You were talking about suits not being colorful. He gave you examples that proved you wrong. You shifted the goalposts.

That was my bad! But usually colorful = suit accuracy, to my case. But the idea still stands for Iron Spider, it's all dark colors and the way the suit was shot or rendered completely washed out all colors it had, and the FFH suit only has the red. Like, I know, the original original spidey was red/black, but there's a lot more black than there is red, especially with them putting black on the arms.

I'd say it is more some MCU films having a general grey muddy tint to them. Iron Spider toys, while deep, still feel very saturated. So I suppose I'm arguing against my own point, but I think it's more on color grading than costume design, making EVERYTHING a bit wet cement-like.

And yes, there is more black, but the red being SO vibrant balances it out.

I'm not too knowledgeable about Marvel or DC and I don't really see it as massively comparable to tokusatsu(I LOVED Heroes though!), but I will say I caught Spiderman 3 on TV once and I actually didn't find it that bad, I didn't mind the old Tobey Macguire Spiderman films! :lol
