They can't. Power Rangers - the brand itself and every single individual series - is co-owned by Saban and Toei (and before that, Disney and Toei, and even before that, Saban and Toei). Toei always have and always will co-own Power Rangers.

I doubt it. They didn't even do a Pokemon and Transfomers crossover when Takara has the toy rights to those two franchises.

Well, those two series are sort of incompatible without coming up with new molds... and there's probably not much of an overlap of people who really like Pokemon and people who really like Transformers in Japan. From what I've heard, Transformers isn't actually that popular in Japan regardless of it originating there.

Meanwhile, both Power Rangers and Transformers heavily involve things that turn into robots, and we're in the middle of a series based around combining robots. And one of those combiners is based around dinosaurs.

If it does happen, we'd probably get it as a convention exclusive, like at Hascon. It definitely wouldn't be a full line on its own.

Or we could just get a comics crossover. There's definitely a lot of fun that could come from that.

As far as I understand it, Bandai of America and Bandai of Japan are entirely separate companies, with BOA acting as the American distributor, but not being directly affiliated with BOJ in a legal sense.

So if that is true, and it might not be, I'm no expert in business management, that would mean that who has the rights to produce the Power Rangers toys in America, is almost inconsequential to Bandai proper.

BOA and BOJ are owned by the same company, so of course BOJ cares. At the same time, if Bandai Namco gave an executive order to begin the buyout process of Toei, ditch Saban Brands and adapt Super Sentai and Kamen Rider themselves in-house for a global audience, as part of their big push into original content and IPs and to appease growing concerns from shareholders that they're hoarding cash reserves and not spending it, then of course BOJ isn't fussed. Though we'll find out next year what the future holds.

Without new Japanese footage to mine from, there wasn't much for Saban Brands to do except sell Power Rangers to whoever would have it, and was okay adapting unused footage from 5 years ago, as a stopgap between eras.

I had to Google that. Who knows. I reckon we'll get a 3D animated series from 2020 onwards, with completely original designs.

We can't get an animated series. Toei won't allow it, and as they are joint-owners of the franchise, they can't be 'gotten away from'.

Takara did do the Disney Label figures, with a Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Buzz Lightyear Transformers. And Hasbro did the Star Wars Transformers, And now Takara is doing their own Star Wars Transformers. So rule nothing out.

And there's something else I have to wonder. Hasbro and Takara have heavily benefited from their partnership for Transformers helping them recoup mold costs. For Bandai of Japan, back when it was just adapting their toys for the US market they were able to get more money for those DX Megazords and the like. Once BOA started Zord Builder that stopped.

And Toei got more out of the shows they were doing, with what I would assume was minimum risk and cost to themselves. After all the footage was all shot, and the suits all made. I'm assuming Saban and Disney picked up the production costs for the new stuff. I mean I'm guessing that if say the Sentai that's being subbed by Shout doesn't do well, it's not a loss for Toei, just Shout.

And I imagine that makes Toei and Bandai Japan HATE the two year contracts and skipping from Nick. Because that means there's a bunch of shows they lost that auxiliery profit from. There's always a chance that a Sentai that did poorly will be adapted into a Power Rangers that does very well. Heck I heard once that a Power Rangers did better than the Sentai it was adapted from when subbed in Japan, which if true is awesome.
Don't rule it out. I also think Hasbro is less likely to force them to shoehorn every toy into the show.
