I also forgot to mention...generaly, in animation, feature movies dictate the direction of animation. So if Michael Bay's latest transformers is a hit, you can pretty much bet there will be a spin off series loosely based or tied to a feature movie (and that resulted in Prime...which I enjoyed way more than the movies). Same thing happened with DC and Marvel properties.

But in all seriousness, isn't this all just very...traditional at this point? New series gets mentioned, art styles and directions are scrutinized, lines are drawn in the sand....We've seen this in every legacy franchise. Its part of being in a fandom and having opinions and personal taste. |

Psst: I like Sigma 6.

Looks like all of Marvel's 90's cartoons have been pulled from Netflix. :(
At least they left Wolverine & The X Men, which was a pretty decent show. Shame they never got to make another season. |

Does anybody remember the episode of Johnny bravo where he turns into a woman? I love that one. :P

Tonight was the last episode of Transformers: Prime. At least until their DTV adventure.
Had a lot of ups & downs but I'm really gonna miss this series. Although I might've liked it even more if Hasbro hadn't blown the surprise a week in advance |

Update! Sorry folks! All the info I put up was right...except the prime replacement part! This new show is the replacement for rescue bots, not prime. Phew! Totally makes more sense.

The Avengers in that one seem to be incredibly unlucky, or the writers have a mind control fetish.

A block of Kaijudo episodes just finished downloading so I've been digging in again, gotta say I'm still loving this. All the creatures are really awesome, I'm still blown away with what it gets away with (Nigel got ran over!) and I love how much effort is put into the actual Duelling, the relationship between creature and human and also the ramifications of Duelling from both sides. Plus all the monster clashes are just so good.
I never thought a show like this could be so thought out, intelligent and thought provoking, while also providing genuine tension and stakes with enough to please both kids and adults in the audience. I honestly think Kaijudo is my new favourite cartoon. |
Knockout was the best part of the TF: Prime finale.

Anyone been watching Beware the Batman? It's good, too bad it only has D-list villains. The action sequences are great and I like the amount of grittiness it has at times.

That's another show I need to check out and catch up on, I'm so behind on everything right now :(
|
Did anyone else find it jarring when Batman came out in the open to fight those two "artists" in the third episode?
|
I thought the newest Beware episode was the weakest, Anarchy was rubbish with none of that twisted nature or hidden depth that made our first two Rogues so fascinating. And without an interesting villain it just made you notice how horribly this is animated. I'm hoping this is a rare misstep and not the shape of the series to come.

I saw an episode of the show, i liked it but the animation style is still bugging me.
|
I dig the animation style, the designs however are not all there. Anarky looks great in Arkham Origins, in this show however he looks really dumb. Batman is super skinny for not being Batman Beyond as well. His costume is kinda bland in general.

Still, they're doing a MUCH better job of doing an inexperienced Bruce Wayne then the Batman could hope to accomplish. |

I've gone into length about The Batman multiple times in this thread, so I'll avoid repeating myself again. |
In terms of Batman shows, I'd probably say Beyond > TAS > The Batman > Brave and The Bold.

The Batman may have been weaker as a story, but it was just so damn original and visually striking that I think in many ways this show actually holds up the best out of any of them. But all Brave and The Bold was, was fun. It didn't push the boundaries of kids entertainment (unless we include that Birds of Prey song), it didn't take Batman in some brave new direction (excuse the pun), unless you wanna commend the series for basically blending JLU with camp Batman rather than modern gritty Batman or really have anything to it that gives it lasting appeal, beyond maybe making the campy Batman of old bearable unlike the near unreadable comics it was inspired by. |

So episode 3 of Beware.
Man I'm loving this show and how competent the villains are. Anarchy might not be the Joker, but he presents a threat that I can take seriously all the same. |
