New additions to the collection (Zero arrived yesterday):

Finally got a chance to open up my Zero tonight. Another solid release, and packed with accessories. I haven't tried the Double Flasher yet, so no idea if it's easy to peg in or not to Zero or another figure (I don't have the previous Leo to try it with and won't get one until the renewal version is released). The only random QC issue of sorts is that the back piece that is swapped out for the Tamashii stand-compatible piece comes pretty loose. It's still snug enough that if I shake Leo, it stays in, but I have to watch where I hold him because I can knock it out pretty easily with my fingers without realizing it. The back pieces on all other Ultra-Acts I own are usually a pain in the ass to remove, where this one is closer to a polar opposite.

(Random bit, but I love the box, with all that blue.)

Has any US stores release Ultra-Act Ultraman Zero (Renewal) yet? I notice Image Anime still has the figure down for pre-order.

Since it just came out in Japan last month, no I don't believe so. Bluefin releases typically come between a few weeks-to-a month or so after their Japanese release.

I just bought Ultraman Taro on Mandarke. He will be my first Ultra Act and I'm looking forward to getting him soon in a few days.

FYI, preorders for the Strong Corona Zero/Luna Miracle Zero two-pack are going up on the middleman sites.

So I'm planning on picking up my first Ultra Act soon in the form of Tiga Sky Type. Good first pick up?

The old Tiga figures are just that, quite old. They aren't great. But in the $15-20 range I'd say yes. I own Sky Type myself and while it's not the worst of the old Ultra-Acts it isn't great either. You have a much higher chance of getting below average paint apps on the old ones or having frozen joints. Just be careful and don't pay too much. The newer V2/Renewal Ultra-Act type stuff is where the QC awesomeness is at.

So Noa arrived yesterday from Nippon Yasan. Like Dark Zagi, he's rather eyecatching despite being even more monochromatic. Yeah the metallic silver helps, but so does the lining on his body. The shoulder effect parts are an entirely clear piece with the shoulder pad just painted silver; pegs on and off just fine. I do wish he came with his own stand, but Ultra-Acts have rarely ever come with one, so I wasn't expecting it.

Very nice compliment to Dark Zagi. Now bring on Leo renewal!

Along with Ginga, a release of Ultraman renewal is going up again tonight.

I...was really hoping, if/when they were going to rerelease an Ultra-Act, that Dyna Flash would've been the one. Oh well.

It makes me so happy to know that Leo's renewal, unlike Seven, really does make sure to update everything old alongside the new accessories. It would not have surprised me if Bandai had chosen to skip the punch and kick effects, but thankfully they didn't.

Sweet! I'll have to wait for early April before mine arrives from AmiAmi.

In the meantime, finally got around to picking up Dyna Flash Type. He's not loaded with accessories, but is nice. I hadn't realized previously he came with the extra light-piped head like Gaia V2. Now I'm down to one of the Aguls as the only newer-body Ultra-Acts that I'm missing.

Isn't Taro recent enough to be using the renewal mold?

Yeah Taro wouldn't require a renewal, he only came out last year and it's a pretty great figure. Maybe a re-release but I'm not sure Taro is that in demand currently.

Taro is already scheduled for a reissue in May in Japan, about June via Bluefin.

Now that Bluefin can release Showa Ultra-Acts, it may be that US demand is part of what's prompting all the reissues this year (whereas Zoffy, for example, is still so in-demand despite being reissued already).

No chain on Astra's leg? Does he include Leo's mantle?

Yeh, Astra does include Leo's mantle, and yeh i noticed the missing chain as well but, I think something similar happen with Kyoryu Gold and Bandai added it later.

However, dont quote me for it as it was a while ago so im not 100% sure.

Hopefully chain is included, as shown in the first images. The King's Mantle for Ultraman Leo looks superb in the official pics :cool:
