Fox themed rider this year, is this the first time a rider was modeled after a fox? Geats' driver gives me Accel vibes, as does the stylized A in his title logo. I'm interested to see how his driver works and what the collectable gimmick is this year.

Sigh. Personally not feeling anything about this series. Looks like Kamen Rider Fortnite, as that?s no doubt where they?re drawing a lot of inspiration from? not a fan of Takahashi either. I?ve really enjoyed Revice, so sorry to see it go is part of it, but I just don?t like anything I?m seeing so far from Geats?

Generally agree, I think Takahashi is good at writing characters, but he often struggles to characterize people early on, I think allowing the monsters to just be fodder for the riders to compete over will free up more time for character writing

I'm okay with a couple major monster-villains though, I enjoyed a number of the antagonists from Ex-Aid, and I have a big soft spot for Horobi and Jin personally

Frankly after personally getting burned by Revice, I'm just glad to know we have a writer I'm pretty confident will make a show I can actually stand to finish (I'm glad for people who are able to enjoy Revice, but it's not for me sorry)

Whoa, I actually really like the blank form, I feel like it get's across that like "kabuki kitsune" vibe a bit better I think

My main take away here is that in the shot of the blank form you can see the bike handle piece is not attached at all, fully confirming it is removable, presumably meaning it will be another modular part

Okay looking through it a bit with google lens most of it is just Battle Familia cross promotion or text saying "more info on geat's weapons soon!"

The only things of some notability or intrigue are:

-under the blank form I think it says smth along the lines of "a blank form onto which various pieces of armour may be added"

-the text at the bottom is just like "He looks like a fox" but then goes "And what type of enemy is Geats fighting...!?"

everything else is a bit nothing tbh as far as I can tell

Oh also the right side (our left) gimmick item is way thinner than I thought it was??? unless it's the "thin" prop version... I know revice had like thin vistamp props for some things

I noticed something we can deduce from these new images

it looks like the the outside of the "display" section is actually made up of by the modular gimmick item pieces, as on the blank form when the handle isn't inserted part of the display area is totally missing!

also the red part of the outside of the belt is part of the handle as well!!

so i'm assuming the gear/disc/rotary/revolver item also adds half of the outer display area itself

the left is with the handle inserted, and the right is the blank form with no handle, you can see there's no proper outer display or red section to the belt at all

So it turns out this belt is the exact idea i've been telling my friends I wanted for YEARS

I'm gonna have to try to get this belt on HLJ in the pre-order window now :lol

The part where saving civilians also counts towards the Rider's points sort of reminds the hero system in Tiger and Bunny, which I really enjoyed.

I'm also interested in how Ukiyo appears to be our first protag in Reiwa that actively signed up to be a rider from the very beginning. Aruto, Touma, and Ikki all sort of fell into the role and agreed to do it after a little convincing (although to be fair, Touma did want to be a rider when he found out he could), but based on the premise Ukiyo seemingly joins the moment the DGP is a thing.

I think his right forearm armor can do the same thing, since it appears to be identical to his left forearm armor.

So idea is that Geats can transform into his bike? Hence the bottom half of his design? I'm kind of wondering how that's going to work. If they're going to be fighting in a virtual world I wonder if that means more bike scenes...then again, Saber fooled me too.

Also, if this is going to be like a game/competition...what exactly is going on? Are people willingly getting roped into getting attacked by monsters or is it something that's being forced on the world to participate in? I'm guessing the Kaijin are going to be like the Magia and just generically attacking humans with probably villainous Riders behind everything like you'd expect from a Takahashi show.

Not gonna lie, the way the system is presented it feels like Tiger and Bunny almost.

Where people just sign up to be superheroes and the entire thing is a monopolized sport where there's like popularity polls and points and stuff.

I really like the suit, and the story seems interesting, but I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch. Both Takahashi and Inoue are mixed bags to me in terms of working on Rider seasons I've really liked. I really enjoyed Zero-One, but Ex-Aid not so much. OOO is one of my favorites, but I'm meh on Gaim and Kiva at best.

So really, Geats could land anywhere between a spot on my top 5 Rider series, and "yeah it's alright I guess."

For what it's worth Yuya Takahashi did work as a script writer for Tiger and Bunny, he wrote 6 episodes of the orignal season out of 25 episodes, which is pretty high tbh

(He's also been known to "borrow" ideas from anime he likes so yeah i wouldn't be shocked if we can spot some less than subtle influences on this show)

Oh man, I really REALLY like how Geats looks. That's a damn cool design.

Y'all, I love fox boy here. I love an overdesigned Rider too, but seeing how crisp and clean Geats's design is just really delights me. Great colors, super slick, and the fox theme looks great! As some people have already said, Takahashi is a somewhat divisive writer, but I personally am a big fan and have already said I wouldn't mind having him back for a third time! After this I could stand to have a long break from him, but I'm up for one last dance! I think he does some excellent drama and character writing and I consider both Ex-Aid and Zero-One some A tier shows! I also understand how some people are a bit wary of the whole Grand Prix setting, but at the same time it actually sounds like it could be spun in a very refreshing way this time, with more of a focus on "gamifying" it for lack of a better term.


I dunno, I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! I'll probably watch this one live.

I've encountered some people who seem to genuinely think Geats will be a full on sequel to Faiz, and I still just think that's... very unlikely...

I won't deny there's a similar vibe between the two riders, and with Takahashi writing a somewhat Faiz related special recently it does feel like there's some intentional connection... but I feel like a breif cameo, or even just like a TTFC exclusive crossover is more likely than Geats being a proper sequel, especially since the offical story summary doesn't really mention anything that seems faiz related?

I'll wait until we have a trailer at least before I'd say I'm 100% sure it isn't a Faiz sequel I guess... but idk it feels like a big jump to me

Why do people keep saying that Geats reminds them of Faiz? Nothing about the design really looks Faiz-ish to me.

It's already the afternoon of the 22nd in Japan, so people are up and watching Battle Familia! Here's what people have to say about Geats' appearance in them!

I haven't seen any confirmation on whether his appearance in Shin Hatsukoi Hero is true or merely a rumor (the press didn't mention it, I haven't seen any people piping up about it), but I'll keep an eye out for it just in case!

The eyes feel kind of Faiz-ish.

At least personally it's the focus on black with red highlights, as well as a sleeker more "combat" style appearance that reminds me a bit of Faiz. I do feel like I think "gun" when I think Faiz, though this might not be an association everyone has? (I am saying this as someone who hasn't seen more than 5 episodes of Faiz tho lol)

tbh tho I'd say it also reminds me of Arc-One, and it generally has a "Reiwa" vibe to it

Well, Takahashi. I'm not at all against another one of his shows, but it makes me think that in the continuation of "Smart Brain and 1000% Crisis" some 5th Geats rider will be added.
About the plot: I understand that the writer and producer refer to Ex-Aid and Gaim, but how can you ignore the obvious reference to Blade? The main character's name is Ace.
The gloomy design suggests that the series will be serious, and all the comedy will focus on peaceful scenes that do not really affect the plot.
The gun is very cool. A scarf too, but it confuses me that it is not in any of the real photos. The unarmored version resembles the Den-O base form.

The issue with scarves like this is most of the time it won't be visible except when we see Geats from the back, it'll be hard to get it in front shots without using wind machines or wires, so in a lot of photos, especially like candid shots, the scarf likely won't be (very) visible a lot of the time

Once we get footage I'm sure we'll see it a good bit, I bet they'll be excited to show it off a lot early on and in promo footage especially

Takahashi and "Game Start" on the poster ? Well as an Ex-aid fan I'm totally sold.

Now the only thing missing is to bring back the same ex-aid composers (Takehito Shimizu and Toru watanabe) and I'll be 100% sold (I don't know if they are announced already ?) cause ex-aid ost is my all time favorite.


Also if somehow the returning rider rumor is true (i think not but who knows), I wonder if it could be Dan kuroto or Emu. I would be fangasming, but they might be too iconic and it would maybe "steal the show" from the new guys (if not, Im sure they will make a Dan kuroto crossover at some point, the thing is writing by itself too easily).

If we're judging on eyes, I don't really feel like they're that Faiz-ish. Like when I think of Faiz-styled eyes, I think more that they look like a complete flat-ish circle together. Geats' eyes don't really give me that impression of it being a complete circle. If anything, I'm more reminded of something like IXA or Buster.

I guess? I still don't really see it personally besides "sleeker combat appearance". But yea, I think Ark-One is a more apt comparison to Geats than Faiz is.

The 'survival game' sort of angle that the details are suggesting really make it feel like this could be some rival game company's take on Kamen Rider Chronicle.

Calling it now, that's how they'll tie in Ex-Aid for the inevitable Geats/Ex-Aid/Zero-One crossover special.

I personally prefer Geats team up with Emu or with Aruto just like Touma team up with Takeru Tenkuji.

The returning Rider rumour was from the Wolf Axe rumours, so it's bogus as there's no way Geats and his gun could be mistaken for that, especially the different half and half mechanic.


Honestly my biggest hope for this show is to have Riders stay dead as it's a battle royale formula. I say this as Takahashi's deaths don't really stick in the shows

The revived character concepts in Kamen Rider become repetitive and super boring.

I still think Ex-Aid story become more interesting if Kuroto and Kiriya are permanently dead after game over.

I could be wrong, so someone correct me if I am, but I seem to recall hearing that the character revivals in Ex-Aid weren't Takahashi's original intent but was requested by the producer/toei-staff bc of the two characters' popularity?

I agree. Kuroto was good in his show, but in spin-offs he starts to tire. Still, the role of the main character, albeit an antihero, is not for his type.
