VR Troopers turn 30 years old. I remember it being a thing, but I don't recall anyone that I know that would watch it or talk about it. It was like "Oh that show is a thing" to most people.

I was more of a Beetleborgs kid.
I watched damn near every Power Rangers spin off and wannabes, but the one that mostly stuck in my head (Other than PR) was Beetleborgs.

I watched all of them too.

They weren't broadcast to me. I'll have to watch it, especially since I've already seen all the Japanese originals.

I remember Big Bad Bettleborgs being popular and Masked Rider being somewhat talked about when I was in pre-school and kindergarten, but not VR Troopers.

VR Troopers! I remember it starting around the same time as season two, and how then until the end of Zeo we got something other than Power Rangers itself alongside or inbetween the respective seasons.

VR Troopers running alongside Mighty Morhpin two, then Masked Rider alongside Mighty Morphin three, lastly Beetleborgs alongside Zeo, before ending with Beetleborgs Metallix.

Watched the lot of them, VR Troopers but not in its entirety, Masked Rider right through, Beetleborgs again not in its entirety, and Metallix right through.

For a show that Frankensteined footages from three different shows, I thought the main plot was nice for VR Troopers.

Sometimes this site doesn't feel as active as it once been.

Life has caught up with the people who worked their butts off to keep this site engaging in the past and no one can blame them for that. They have families to take care of and in some cases their hobbies and tastes changed as well.

And some, like myself, just get older. I don't really feel like typing away as much as I used to anymore, or spending time on the internet in general, it has become quite an awful place.

Couple that with the fact that social media has effectively devastated forum mentality, which means next to no fresh blood income to rejuvenate this place, and there you go. Times have changed. The memories made will stay fond ones forever though; no one can take that away from me.

All of this exactly. I do wish that the admin group had passed the keys to folks who could be more active in running and updating, but at the same time there'd be a likelihood of someone taking over that was entirely too invested in trend-chasing and clickbait articles.

We're not what we were ten years ago but at the same time, there's nothing wrong with a nice, quiet corner of the internet to chill and yak about spandex and rubber. There's not a lot of quiet spots left anyway...

Last night I watched I saw the TV Glow.

IMHO, I wouldn't say so. First of all, this is a drama, also with a strong dose of art house. Very David Lynch style. You can watch it for general development, but as a horror marathon and shared viewing, it's better to choose something more lively.

Does it count as a horror movie? Yes, absolutely.

For a movie marathon? No, not at all.

It isn't a movie where there's some scary monster stalking people or a murderer on the loose, or the typical horror tropes you'd want out of a horror movie marathon. It is... deeply personal and atmospheric. It's the kind of horror movie where everything is up to interpretation while having a clear purpose and reading.

All I'm going to say is that it will hit people like us right in the heart.

I saw Indiana Jones V The Dial Of Destiny the other day.

It was an OK movie but it was one they didn't need to do a 5th movie but it was one that turned out to be good surprisingly.

I liked it actually.

I watched Ultraman Z for the first time since our Geats watch party tapped out during episode 2. The dub was better than I thought it would be, Z's line delivery is what sold me alongside Sevenger's entire existence.

Now I'm having a crisis of faith on if Kamen Rider is for me anymore. Rider in general feels like a chore, new or old season. With how much merch is pouring out and with Ultraman being easier to watch without sailing the internet seas, I'm twisting myself into knots thinking about children's shows. Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just crazy?

On the plus side, I saw my first glimpse of Gridman and it put hearts in my eyes.

Don't worry, this is a perfectly normal feeling. People's tastes change all the time. Two years ago I got sick of watching Kamen Rider and took a break from toku altogether and got into visual novels. I just got back into toku like a month ago to watch Gavv, but yeah, hobbies should be something enjoyed on your own terms.

If possible, start doing group watches with friends, be it personal favorites or stuff you wouldn't get to otherwise. I promise it adds a new level of enjoyment to everything.

Speaking of which, amateur voiceovers of riders have recently started appearing in my native language. So for me this is a good reason to revisit my favorite shows with new sensations.

Saw the Futurama year end finale today. Makes me wonder if they'll get cancelled again in 2026.
