In fairness, though, most of the complaints in the last few pages of this thread are hypothetical. We know that Justice League Action is going to be an animated show of 11-minute episodes, but we're all assuming it'll be like Teen Titans Go! instead of Steven Universe. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn't even come out, but we're already making judgements about the film's quality as if it's been out for three months. Suicide Squad has released two trailers, and everyone's focusing on the negative aspects of the trailer that line up with their complaints about Man of Steel and end up ignoring the sense of fun that the trailer has.

And as for the comics—most of them have gotten a lot better thanks to the DCYou initiative. Dr. Fate, Batgirl, Action Comics, Superman, Batman, Prez, Grayson, Justice League—these are some of the best comics DC's published in the past few years. The only book that's gotten worse, really, is Wonder Woman.But there are so many other series to read—I haven't even written half of them down.

I get being wary of DC's work, but I don't think it should come at the cost of the good they're doing, too.

I like what DC is doing on most of their other media stuff, sure the movies can take a bit to get used to, but it really saddens me that their cartoons doesn't live up to the quality they used to had. Young Justice was just really good, and it got canned, Teen Titans they could've easily made a spiritual successor to it or a straight up sequel.

The comic book sides? Oh yea I still love them, can't wait for the Raven comics to come out, gotta catch up on Deathstroke and Starfire though.

I love what DC's doing in the comics and the TV shows. As much as I am excited for the Comic Book movies either DC and Marvel they'll never beat out the comics for me because it's one of my favorite story telling mediums.

No. They haven't. Take it from me, I'm a retailer. Why do you think DC almost immediately backed off that idiotic "DC You" initiative? It failed. Sales were dismal line wide on the new titles created as a part of it. Hence why nearly all of them were caned or are scheduled to be. Great that you enjoy them. Have a good time. But they simply are not successful. The market has proven that. Higher ups at DC have been sceptical of it from the start and rightfully so as it turned out. You enjoying them and them actually being better are not relative ideas.

And I see nothing wrong with being skeptical of a universe built on one awful film (man of steel) and trailers which present more of the same that it did. Totally unrecognizable and un-enjoyable versions of characters we all know and love.

I was speaking more in terms of the quality of the stories, but I'll give you the financial shortcomings.

There's nothing wrong with skepticism. But there's a point where it gets kind of excessive and, quite frankly, even ridiculous. All we've gotten for Suicide Squad are production photos, cast social media, and two trailers. We don't even know for sure who the film's villain is. You can be skeptical, sure. But a trailer that's set to "Bohemian Rhapsody" isn't really something you can say is devoid of all joy.

I remember the DC You campaign... Had no idea it was flopped pretty hard.

It isn't that it's hollow of all joy. It's that the last trailer was a painful attempt and trying to be edgy and cool, while obviously riffing on the success of Guardians of the Galaxy (but hey, gotta use a more well known song because BIGGER AND BETTER).

Plus the movie is having a negative effect on the already established (and far superior, but I digress) Arrow, robbing it of some of its best characters and will likely continue to do so. That is enough reason in itself to not like this movie.

"Dark n gritty" might be the go-to complaint for DC products these days, but there's more to it than that.

I've never heard of DC You. Was that really its name because all I'm thinking of is Jesse Pinkman saying, "DC, yo."

Kinda like how Marvel did the "All new Marvel" line up, DC had their as "DC YOU, comics for anyone".

We watched the last three week's of episodes of Supergirl tonight and they were all great. The Toyman one was kind of creepy and that is what Toyman should be. Then last week's episode with the white Martian was damn awesome. I can't wait to see who is impersonating the senator lady. And of course tonight's with Bizarro rocked. I couldn't help but make a DC movie universe joke with how dark Bizarro's colors were. Watching her and Supergirl fight was like watching old DC vs new DC.

And next week, we get the black mercy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad there is no Mongul.
