here's basically all the kits they've revealed so far, I'm really excited for the grimoire beet mostly because I really enjoyed building the regular grimoire.

I was really hoping that this was going to take place in Reiji's world, but I'm a little disappointed that it's just a VR world this time.

I do get more of a kid-friendly vibe from this though, way more than the original Build Fighters had. I'll still probably watch it though, as the prologue did leave a positive impression.

Hey Folks reviving this thread after nearly a year not because of new build divers but instead because I'd like to know... are the M.S.G linwa by kotobukiya compatible with the 3mm ports on most modern gundam kits? because if so I'd like to buy some for my 30 minute mission kits (which are great btw)

I have a question for the model builders here. Do any of you know if the GBN Guard Frame is compatible with Mercuones units?

Compatible in what way? Most kits from that line are in scale, and most all gundams use a 3mm peg/hole system.

Compatible as in I can put the Mercuones armor on the Guard Frame.

No as the planet system parts can only fit on the Core Gundam and it's variants. At best you might be able to get a couple parts onto the Guard Frame. Now why the Guard Frame?

Because I like the form/shape of it. It feels like a base form that could be built upon.

It's just I can't help but to fantasize the UC Next 100 Project will have them redo F91 into a full series, and then followed by the goddamn official Crossbone anime, and then top it off with a Victory remake.

So I'm watching through 0079 and I can't decide whether I should proceed through UC in chronological or production order.

Production order:
Pros: I can see how the series developed over time
Cons: Not in chronological order

Chronological order:
Pros: Watching the OVAs immediately after 0079 could fill out the OYW a bit more
Cons: Zeta's upgrade in production quality will be less impressive if I watch the OVAs before it

What do you guys think?

Are you watching 0079 complete or the trilogy movies?

The series. I watched the first movie early last year and I thought the pacing was pretty bad. Even if the TV series is a bit slow, it's a lot easier to digest (the series having better pacing than the movies? There's something you likely don't hear every day). I think I'm going to watch 08th and then 0080 next, but I might just go straight into Zeta, I haven't fully decided.

I also kind of want to check out Zambot 3 and Ideon to see Tomino at his most Tomino-est.

08th would be a great next step and then Zeta. 0080 is a really good OVA but it's pretty self sufficient. I'd save it for a holiday treat. 08th is among my favorite Gundam shows so I can't recommend it enough.

If you can find it, Space Runway Ideon is peak Tomino. As is Turn A Gundam. Also apparently G-Reco but I could not get through it.

The UC timeline is great. I'd say Thunderbolt is skippable but don't tell anyone I said that :)

Be warned G-Reco is shit and may require note taking to understand it.

Yeah...I've heard nothing good about G-Reco so I don't intend to watch it, lol. I'm mostly interested in the 80s and 90s stuff, honestly.

I'll consider it, but 0080 always sounded like one of the most interesting shows so I don't want to put it off.

I can't find Ideon on any streaming services, but I did find a fansub. I've heard Turn A is best enjoyed after you've seen the stuff that came before, since it has lots of references. I'm interested in watching it but I'll hold off for now.

Turn A Gundam is one of my favorite anime of all time period, so I highly recommend it to basically everyone.

G-Reco is a show I find to be very underrated. It's really not as confusing as alot of people make it out to be. It just has some pacing issues. I liked it overall.

Yeah I mean if we are deep exploring all of Gundam, I'm the only I know that likes Gundam AGE. I also immensely enjoy the Build series, but thats a real love or hate set of shows.

Gundam AGE I liked the majority of. The final quarter of it is really the only part I took issue with. Really wish the show had gotten its originally planned 70 episodes though.

Huh, I didn't know Age was planned for 70 episodes, that would make it a bit more balanced, and that inturn help it make more sense.

Me? I'm definitely going to watch CCA. I'd like to watch F91 as well because I like the idea of distant UC, but I'm more excited to watch the AU stuff like G and Wing.

And on that note...I mentioned earlier that I heard Turn A is better enjoyed if you've seen what came before and can understand the references. Does that include F91, Victory, and X?

While Turn A does make references to practically every Gundam show that came before it, they aren't necessary in order to enjoy it. It's just a nice bonus ontop of things.

Okay so my question is - I've heard Zeta really ups the ante in terms of stakes, depressing things, death, the horrors of war, etc. If I watch 0080 and 08th before, would that lessen the impact of what Zeta brought to the table?

How much is missing from streaming?

Not really. As long as you've seen Gundam '79 beforehand, you'll get what sort of impact Zeta had.

I will warn you though, War in the Pocket is probably the most depressing entry in Gundam, IMO.

That's kind of what I mean though. I heard Zeta kind of increased the ante for how dark the series can get...if 0080 is even more depressing, will it make Zeta seem less so in comparison?

More and more I'm thinking I might just do production order for early UC instead of chronological.
