The proof is in the pudding. The multiple breakage cases are already bad omen. These aren't merely bad luck, material defects or bad manufacturing. These are built-in systemic failure. Now they break. They are staring at you. They prove something is VERY WRONG with the new joint system.

I'm merely warning the customers who plan to purchase those figures. I'm just positioning myself as a rational consumer. Do I gain something here? No, I don't. I never advertise any other alternative products. Do I lose something here? Nope, I don't either. I'm already short on Bandai's long. It's not a major problem to me, as I haven't purchased (and will not purchase) any SHF SS with the new joint system, however desirable they are to me. It's more like uh... facepalm. On the other hand, I'd feel damned for my whole life if I saw someone (that is, Bandai) making a catastrophic decision (three in this case, or perhaps four, as several days ago they teased the SHF SS OOO Latorata Combo) and did NOT warn them.

The problem is the new joint system itself. No matter what kind of body it's fitted into, it will cause the same total structural failure, that is, mutilated arms.

Should we wait and see? Well, we already see the result. As far as I know, NO previous SHF releases have ever had this high rate of breakage, be it figures with arm swapping gimmick (hello, Gentaro) or without one. The conclusion is obvious.

I agree with everything you said about the future of Seihou line. I have a bad feeling that Ryuki line will have breakage like ooo if the same joints are used.

After reading about the ooo breakage I look at my ooo figuart and it feels weak and light like something could break right away. I lost a lot of faith in bandai with this whole ooo issue and IDK if I want to buy any other ooo form release. Thanks for letting us know how bad the joints are on the ooo figure.

But what is your evidence? One release is not a pattern. It could just be the joints specific to OOO. Hell, it could be specific to TaToBa, we don’t know.

This seems like baseless hysteria. You’re literally decrying the SHF line as doomed over one bad release, like Bandai haven’t been making these figures for years. Hell, the whole reason SS exists is to redo the old, inferior figures. It makes no sense that Bandai would use fragile joints when it would only mean less sales. Ryuki isn’t even confirmed and you’re acting like you know exactly what’s going to happen.

It’s one release, possibly two if Den-O is so far along in production and literally uses the exact same mould for the joints, and you’re predicting figures that won’t come out for years will be affected? This isn’t even a “benefit of the doubt” situation so much as it is a “use your God-damned brains” situation.

I also feel the need to repeat that my Tatoba has been perfectly fine, and I treat it as I would any other figure and have had it almost since release. I've still yet to see anything to deconfirm that others haven't just had a bad batch.

Likewise, and like I said earlier, if anyone is super worried about it, just refrain from swapping the forearms and the risk of breaking goes way down, since 99% of the reported breaks have happened during a forearm swap. Choose if you want him to have his claws out or not and stick to it.

Personally, I plan to just wait for Latoratah to have him posed claws out.

The thing is, I’ve swapped the forearms out multiple times and I still haven’t seen even a hint of breakage. I’m of course gentle with it because it was still a high end £45 collector’s figure, but from what’s being said the amount of force I apply should have broken it by now full stop. Naturally there’s more than enough reports to show the issue is widespread and Bandai deserves a lot of criticism for it especially on such a popular figure, but there’s so many reports of the opposite that I’m not willing to believe it’s an engineering problem instead of a QC problem with particular batches.

Oh, there were much worse contenders in the past. Stuff like Fourze's Driver crumbling to bits comes to mind. 3-4 figures with breaking elbows don’t even come close to being as bad as some of the older stuff.

Honestly I don’t think there's any reason to argue about the whole thing. If it happens again with other OOO-figures or even Den-O they will either abandon or change the system. Hell, maybe they are even doing it right now.

So going as far as doom saying future figures that haven’t even happened yet feels a bit premature.

Back in the day, I heard way more stories of people snapping the wrist joints on Kyoryu Red or the Space Sheriffs than I have people breaking their Seihou OOO. Gokai hips breaking is another one that springs to mind, but that’s more of an age thing I guess. It sucks, but it really isn’t the epidemic this thread is making it out to be.
