Well, the difference is that Jem isn't really a Jem movie. Like, names are used and it's about a band, but there's like, nothing to it. The double life aspect is removed, the conflict came from a bitchy manager rather than any real rivals, and it was about finding bits and pieces of BB 8's younger brother.

Those movies were clearly trying to be what they were named after. Jem was just a story about a band growing, and this robot thing that slapped the name on.
