Now then. *Grabs bottle of aspirin* Let's get through Epic 41. |

Also, RJ's appearance record seems more in-line with Sha Fu's than an "Asian man with a hat who died". |

Have you watched Shinken v Gosei yet? |

They finished sometime around episode 37 today, I'm just waiting for some kind of prompt by the series advertising it. Or is there not one and was I supposed to watch it a while ago? |

I'm sitting here, watching Goseiger, and realizing that I'm having a 3rd climactic battle.
And there's still 7 (Technically 6, since this episode ended on a cliffhanger and I know next episode is a continuation of Robogog's climactic fight) episodes left... |
Up to episode 40 of Jetman and still loving it. All I can say is if you weren't sold on Gai or Grey before, episode 39 will change all of that.

Oh, and I'm enjoying it. I'm just posting what's going on, what comes to mind and things I notice. Like right now. Buredoran finally revealed himself as Burajira the Savior (Since "Savior's Burajira" just doesn't have the same ring to it :p). I was actually wondering why he was referred to as Burajira in the 199/SHT movies when he was called Buredoran all throughout the series. Guess my (Unasked) question finally got an answer (Also, jeez. What a dick!) Anyway, FINALLY, I hit a Shinken vs. Gosei preview. So yay. I'm actually not sure if I should just complete the last 5 episodes of the series or watch the movie first. |
Buredoran/Brajira is one of the best modern sentai villains out there. Deliciously evil, plotting the entire series. He just keeps coming back, and with a new form each time. Go ahead and watch Shinkenger/Goseiger though. While it doesn't exclusively take place at any point in the series that I know of, I always feel the best place to watch it is right before the Mantorintis show up. Any time after that is cool. Seeing as it features the return of Buredoran/Brajira once again with yet another new form :lol

Okay, so one episode and one movie left (More than likely 2 movies though, since I'll probably watch 199 Heroes after I watch vs. Shinkenger). So what happens? My body decides to get a monster headache (Insert joke about Goseiger inducing the headache here).
Well, I'm gonna take a little break from Gosei (More than likely just watch crap on Youtube until the headache dies down). Anyway, some thoughts over the recent episodes. First of all, where is my SHF GoseiKnight Black Eyes ver.? Next, Burejira is a monster. So rarely do I want to see the main antagonist just straight up killed (Normally I'd accept something like imprisonment or redemption. Not here. I want to see this bastard dead). I'm also curious about Burejira himself. I wonder what tribe he was from... Anyway, one more episode to go! |

And his complete lack of redemption and remorse make him the evil villain that you love to hate. And his most interesting trait is that in a ridiculous twisted way he thinks he's doing the RIGHT thing. That by destroying the Earth and humanity that he can rebuild a peaceful utopia. It makes him such an interesting villain. His drive to die and return over and over make him a fantastic recurring villain. |

Okay! Finished Tensou Sentai Goseiger!
I have a movie to watch, and I'll probably do so tonight, but it doesn't play much part in what I have to say anyway. A few thoughts in no real order. First, I don't see why it's picked on so often. While it's start certainly wasn't the best, it does pick up, pretty much once the Warstar bites the dust. GoseiKnight's introduction can give someone whiplash if they were unprepared for it (Like myself). It also has a serious padding problem. Anyway, let's get reviewing! Goseiger is an oft mocked Sentai. It's flaws are all present and clear as day from the start, with uninteresting villains, a serious problem with pacing and padding, and having characters have a hard time learning. From the very beginning, it's clear their biggest flaw is it's villains. The Warstar, the Yuuma Tribe, the Machine Empire who's name I never learned (Mataroid was the name of the monsters, but I don't think that was the name of the Empire). They each bring nothing new in terms of characters, with Mons Drake and Robogog practically being the same character (Though Drake did experience some camaraderie). The Yuuma Tribe was a breath of fresh air from the Warstar, but they soon became tedious as well, their only interesting point being the trick they pull before dying themselves. The Warstar is the worst kind of villain archetype. Standing around a death fortress swearing they'll get the heroes next time. As for the Machine Empire...Yep. They were there too. Unlike the other two, they had barely any time to establish characters. So we got a heartless leader and a "Sympathetic" character in Metal Alice (Quotation marks because I only really felt for her briefly before her death). Because there were 3 sets of different villains, the flaw of escolation and growth is obvious. The enemies never really upped the ante. They were just replaced by another set. Because of this, of the 4 Climaxes, only 1 felt like there was weight behind it. The fights were great and the end bosses did put up one hell of a battle, but because they were only just introduced like 10-15 episodes earlier, it's hard to fell the tension the setting was trying to induce. Another problem (Not necessarily a flaw, just something that bugged me) was it's padding. Random episodes where characters would supposedly learn something are spread all around the series. While these episodes are intended for character growth, very rarely does it actually occur. This does improve closer to the end, however. Another problem with the padding was the powers. For stretches of episodes they'd get power after power. Doing this, it lessens the impact of when they actually get a big power, such as the Miracle Gosei Headers and their subsequent super mode, because it feels like I should expect to see some kind of Super Miracle Gosei weapon or something the very next episode. [Nitpick: The Chou Henshin takes up too much damn time. For like, 20 episodes straight it feels like a solid 2 minutes is taken up by just them transforming, then summoning the gumball machines, then inserting the headers, then applying the armor. I know it's to be expected from Sentai, but it really starts to stand out...] But it's not all bad! There was a lot that was good, too! First off, while the characters had a problem actually growing, they were still pretty good as characters. With the exception of Eri (And possibly Hyde), they weren't walking archetypes. They had obvious personality traits, but they did enough to make me feel like they were more than just a checklist of things to include. Eri's bubbly personality never won me over, but that's me being a heartless bastard, and Hyde, while I liked him, was kind of obviously the no nonsense straightman all Sentai are apparently required to have. Still, they were enjoyable to watch and I didn't outright hate any of them (Though I did dread Eri episodes). GoseiKnight is awesome. Yeah. Can't really deny that. Though he does his hardest to try to make sure no one likes him in the beginning. I enjoyed watching him and his relationship with Nozomu was quite touching (If out of left field). Very rarely can a show make me completely hate a villain for all the right reasons. By the end of this series, I wanted Burajira dead. Earlier I said that the villains were a low point, but that's only if you don't include Burajira with them. The series does a relatively good job establishing him, and his continuing presence was always alluding to something more. It was pretty cool, and by series end, I couldn't wait to see the Goseigers off him. Just a note: The best kind of villain is the one who thinks he's doing the right thing. I must agree with Den-O here. On to designs. I do not like the Gosei suits. WAY too much white for my tastes. Their tribe symbol across their chest was nice, but it was too big, and their color occupied too little space. Their helmets were nice, with a neat variation on the animal mouth/visor thing. The super mode was a super mode. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. GoseiKnight's design was pretty cool, love red visors when the helmet isn't red too (*Glares at Buster Red*), and the gold mixed well with the silver. The mecha were hit and miss a lot. Gosei Great was bland to me, Hyper Gosei Great was ugly, Gosei Ground was alright, Gosei Ground Great (Or whatever) was kinda cool, Datas Hyper was decent, the ultimate power was fine (Don't remember the name), but the face on the chest was just weird, and I hated everything Mystic Brother was involved with. So yeah. Overall, Goseiger was alright. It's not a series for everyone, but I think if you can tough it through the Warstar, you'll find it to be pretty good. Gekiranger Goseiger Gokaiger |
I knew you'd enjoy it if you gave it the chance. And I hope everyone else does now to. Yes, I realize, I'm probally the only one who will go to my grave railing it's the best thing ever. Aside from Raz and Den. But it is a good show. Brajira and Gosei Knight alone make it worth watching.
And in other good news I'm going to marathon some Geki tomorrow! |
Glad to see you enjoyed it somewhat buddy :thumb: That show gets seriously underrated and bashed upon by people who watch a couple episodes and never give it a chance as a whole. When you sit through and watch it there are plenty of redeeming qaulities that passers by don't notice. Now go watch Shinken/Gosei and love the hell out of it. It's one of the best sentai team-up movies there is. It actually manages to make the Shinkengers seem like human beings!
In other news I just watched episode 2 of Dekaranger. In think I'll be doing a play by play of me watching it much like matrixbeast did with Goseiger :lol It's still pretty fun and unorthodox. Ban is a bit annoying, Jasmine is ridiculously hot, still think the Doggie suit is pathetic. I can dig the villains goofy jewel plot too. And does anyone else get a Gavan vibe from the henshin sequence? |

Anyway, yay! More Geki! :D Quote:
It's actually a reverse of Gokaiger, which is seriously overhyped and praised because of the first few episodes, despite falling into the crapper shortly afterward (Basco does his hardest to save it, but it was too far gone). Anyway, I fully intend on watching that movie. Just not sure if it's gonna be tonight or tomorrow :lol |
Alot of people give Goseiger grief because it came after Shinkenger. Which totally blows my mind. Shinkenger was so beyond boring and padded out that it was painful. Goseiger was fun and energetic after that mess. But Goseiger is unfairly considered to be sandwiched between 2 "great" series. I did enjoy Gokaiger alot but it's fair to say a decent part of my enjoyment is because of the anniversary fan-wankiness. I love that shit :lol
Shinkenger is held up as some gold standard of sentai which baffles me. It was slow, boring, had almost zero character growth, it had a great twist that would have grown the characters somewhat. But that only lasted 6 episodes at the very END of the series and was immediately reversed. And it had a primary villain that for the majority of 49 episodes sat on a damn boat, drank Saki, and had anger management issues. |

Dude should totally team up with Enter. Messiah Buredoran of the Vagras anyone? Glad you enjoyed Matrix. Goseiger isn't my favourite season by any means but I did manage to find plenty of things to enjoy about it, and I think more people would too if they were prepared to give it a chance. |
Watched episode 2 of Gekiranger last night. Gotta say I LOVE Geki Touja. I love how he moves and fights. He's much more fluid than most mecha. I'm actually interested in the mecha battles which is not always the case with Super Sentai. Gotta say though: I don't like that fly dude. I get that he is supposed to be a commentator but it can get annoying really quickly. I like all the characters so far and the villians are interesting so far. Gonna continue watching it!

Anyway, watched Goseiger vs Shinkenger. Was pretty neat. The Shinkengers could keep my attention, so that's a plus. The team interaction was great, and the fights were pretty good (The team battle at the end was a bit choppy, imo). It also did something I was waiting the entire Gosei series for. http://gyazo.com/c91eb3ae9a28dc84796...png?1355332056 It doesn't matter how many times you say they're a part of the team if they don't participate in the final pose at the end :p Anyway, the movie was nice, and I definitely enjoyed it. Though I did wish they got some kind of Shinken Header instead of Hyper Gosei Ground Great (Or whatever the hell that was called). |

Okay, watched 199 Heroes again because it's a Gosei movie so why not. I still like it, even with my undying hatred for the Gokaigers.
Anyway, a few things. First, why was Marvelous so obsessive over the Gosei keys? He didn't obsess over the keys Basco had this much...Next, I liked the more offensive Goseigers. Being sneaky and stuff. Was cool. Anyway, you know when people tell me to stop hating on Gokai and to enjoy it for what it was? There is one scene in this movie that is the perfect example of that. The mecha fight. If Gokai contained more of that and less of Marvelous and his merry Yes Men, then I'd be all over it (And Gekitouja kicking Brajira? Yeah. We need more of that in general). Anyway, I'm probably alone in thinking this, but during the scene where the previous Sentai members acknowledge the Gokaigers (With the floaty heads in subspace and all that), I seriously wished it was longer. It's such an endearing and great scene. Oh, and why did they give GoseiKnight's key back? I can understand returning their normal Gosei keys, but Knight's was his entire body. Without it, he's a header that can only be used for the guns... |
I assumed Gosei Knight was going back to sleep so wouldn't need it. That raises the question of whether he knew the Gokaigers were going to give it back at the end of it all though :lol
Also Matrix, don't forget about Goseiger Returns. It isn't much but it is a nice little epilogue episode. |
Goseiger returns? I don't think I have that downloaded, and I can't find anything like that on TV-N...
|
Its in the "Versus and stuff SD batch" torrent named "Last Epic". Its basically a direct to DVD episode set between the end of the series and 199 heroes.

I have never heard of that. Torrenting now.
It better not be garbage like Shinkenger returns. That was horrible. |
Its at least better than that, I promise you :lol
