”Star Wars” Darth Vader actor David Prowse dead at 85 |
This is both weird and confusing: https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...and-inclusion/
Basically, the idea that "JEDI" can be an appropriate abbreviation for "Justice, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion" doesn't work cause Star Wars is a problematic franchise with problematic depictions and problematic implications! I shared excerpts with some friends and they were thinking that while many popular franchises have some questionable elements, this was more akin to selective nitpicking rather than genuine engagement by those who pick a few bad trees out of the entire forest, even if a few those "trees" have some degree of validity. Of note, it does have "sources" within the underlined text to "support" the overall conclusions, in case you're interested. P.S.: Star Trek also gets mentioned! |

A little of something of interest for plenty of KOTOR fans out here. |
Update
Finished Star Was The Clone Wars Series V - VII on DVD recently. It was interesting how Ashoka had left her light saber for Anakin at the end of that series. I just started watching Star Wars Rebels and The Mandiliorian both on DVD recently. Bought all 3 series on DVD a while ago. |
Just purchased the digital release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Nintendo Switch since it just came out today. This will be a very interesting experience for me considering I never played the game before and I have seen many people's playthroughs as well as SF Debris' own multi-part video review about it.

I'm starting The Mandilorian Series II in a few days. I would like to soon see The Bad Batch on DVD.
The 1st series of Mandilorian was pretty decent actually. I'm curious to see how they handle Asoka in a few episodes time and am looking forward to seeing Luke again. I'd love to see what happened after Episode VI Return Of The Jedi 6 years later |
Found a very distressing 2006 book which frames Star Wars in a unsavory light with its many albeit critical and near-uniform indictments: Finding The Force of the Star Wars Franchise: Fans, Merchandise, & Critics!
https://books.google.com/books?id=PB...page&q&f=false It seems to include numerous "essays" by multiple people, with chapters dedicated to the implied eugenics & racism as well as another chapter on the so-called "myth of redemptive violence" and whether the Force itself is representative of violence in general. It's particularly damning, but it's a somewhat skewed interpretation. One friend called it "ancient clickbait". The authors also seem to have published ultra-critical books prior to this one on superheroes, given the references on the book jacket...long before the MCU was scorn to similar criticisms! What do you think of these "interpretations" about a Galaxy far, far, away!? |
Anytime you get a novel under the modern "Legends" banner, there is a very detailed list inside which puts ALL EU Novels in chronological order.
Is there a similar chronological order for the Dark Horse EU Comics, and where they fit with the chronology of the EU Novels? |
Any chance that Bad Batch Series I is on DVD yet?

While a lot of people hated the Sequel Trilogy my thought is this -
The Sequel Trilogy while closing up the past found a way to move the story forward after Episode VI with the destruction of the 2nd Death Star. It was a sort of Passing Of The Torch in Episode VII with Luke and Rey. After that the story moved forward with a new fight against the Dark Side with the Resistance fighting the First Order. If we do get Episode X it could be a new chapter after the Skywalker Saga. |
I know there are people who liked the Sequels, but those movies just didn't do it for me. My main issue comes in how little risks it takes (killing off the old hands doesn't count), since I could live with VII as a "playing it safe scenario," but then it just became a downward spiral, especially after Rogue One surprised me (and is ultimately my favorite movie they produced), as for Solo, the less said the better, I agree with the viewpoint of had it been an original movie it would have fared better.
I haven't been much into Star Wars lately, mainly because I haven't been impressed with what they've brought out, with Visions being the best experience I've had from it in a long time. I've yet to see The Mandalorian, or rewatch the Clone Wars, but just haven't found the time or felt like it. I am, however, excited for Lego Star Wars, since I adore those games, but other than that, nothing has really grabbed my attention, and I don't like listening to the fandom in its current state. In short, I'm not mad. Just underwhelmed. |
I own Star Wars Rebels and The Mandilorian both on DVD. I just started Star Wars Rebels Series I. I also am on Star Wars - The Mandilorian Series II on DVD. Star Wars Rebels is good honestly and it looks like one worth watching.
The Mandilorian on the other hand feels like it would better be served as a CG Anime series. Plot wise it's decent but not enough to justify connecting to Disney + to see it. Kenobi I might wait for DVD on that one. I would like to see The Bad Batch at some point. |
A name that's synonymous with the Expanded Universe/Legends material, Tom Veitch, has passed away!

I just found about this today:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEhYnI1MqxI This is seriously going to be sweet. |
I played KOTR ages ago, was really into it at the time, tried to pick it up again semi-recently and yeah - doesn't work for me anymore. Didn't age well IMO. The story did, but the game itself was just too rough for me to get attached again.
And the sequel - I never played it so I am somewhat curious, but knowing how I couldn’t get into the first one again I might just not bother trying the same with the sequel. Although a good re-relapse for modern systems is always welcome. @Topic: I watched the first two episodes of Kenobi and I thought it was really good. The intro for the first episode already had me nearly sobbing; the prequels were a huge part of my childhood. Very happy this is happening, and the end of episode 2 has me on the edge for what’s to come. |
Anytime you get a Legends (Expanded Universe) Novel, you see a timeline in the front of the book that tries to put each novel in chronological order.
Is there a comparable timeline for the old Dark Horse comics? |
I started Obi Wan Kenobi over the 4th holiday. Not sure if it will be only 1 series or what.

Don't know if anyone's seen the Micro Galaxy Squadrons stuff, but
After 20 years, we finally have what may actually be a worthy successor to the nearly perfect Action Fleet line. |

Many many years ago I sold all my Action Fleet stuff. I got a lot value out of those toys. It was a fun line, one my favorite style of toys.
I'd still love to get a hold of the Power Rangers Zeo Red Battlezord Micro playset someday. |
These look cool, I want the Razor Crest for my desk at work.

Wish I'd had the miniature Time Force figures to crew out their Zords, too... Quote:

Either way it's got the boom (sort of) https://www.bobafettfanclub.com/mult...656104528.jpeg |
Step Up High Water got renewed for Series III on Starz.
As for Sailor Moon once I finish Super S I'll need to stream the Viz dub of Stars. |

I'm downshifting my streaming so I might start watching the Star Wars shows on Disney +. I dropped Paramount + and Peacock so Disney + may be part of that downshift as I save 4 bucks.

Found the Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles this afternoon. You have small "blind box" packs, small and medium-sized vehicles, and a $45 Millennium Falcon.
While they are the "true successor " of the Micromachine Action Fleet, they are somewhat smaller. I took some pictures, but they are blurry. I also did a comparison with the new TIE Fighter package and my old X-Wing Action Fleet with X-Wing Concept Vehicle. |
This is a related question due to Star Wars being on Disney +
Has any one had issues with the app? People including me can't use Disney + on their phones or I Pads I had even started up Kenobi myself. |

Which... I mean I'm fine with liberties being taken so long as it's all broadly consistent and most importantly, fun. But hey it's nice to see something I loved as a kid get an actual worthy follow-up. |

Post Watch Comments
Star Wars - The Clone Wars I felt that Clone Wars while being it's own thing had built a bridge between Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith. Ahsoka was a strong Jedi I thought and I felt that she wasn't given the chance to reach her full potential. Hopefully this will be different with Star Wars Ahsoka and we see some redemption. Star Wars - The Mandalorian Will update after I see Series III Star Wars - Obi-Wan Kenobi I felt that we finally saw Kenobi get redemption over what happened in Revenge Of The Sith. Also being another bridge builder we saw a lot of the details of what happened before A New Hope. |
An older 2019 article about the canonicity of the Expanded Universe (now known as "Legends").
https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2019...rse-canon.html Basically, a series of disparate comments, some from Lucas and some that were falsely attributed to Lucas, led to the EU being recognized as canon. Of course, there is a more significant reason that's true for any franchise which branches off with licensed product: money! The main idea, of course, is that Disney isn't all that responsible de-canonizing the EU... cause the official nature of the EU was always a little dubious at best. |
Well when Episode VII The Force Awakens came out
everything after Return Of The Jedi got dropped into an alternate timeline of sorts. When that happened I quit reading Star Wars books entirely at that point. If Disney is going to pull an alternate timeline stunt with all the Star Wars books from here on out nothing counts that hasn't been seen on screen. |
