Angewoman's Ultimate form was retconned into Orphanimon in the PSP game that had a canon extension to Adventure in which everyone received Warp Evolutions.

If I wouldn’t have already known this was Digimon, I wouldn’t have recognized the characters. I'm all in for a visual update if done right, but if I don't recognize the characters that's kind of bad. Maybe it's because all of them wear plain school uniform and miss their "key identifiers" like Tai isn’t wearing the goggles, but still, I'm not quite sure what to think of that.

Well, I guess the Tri at least confirms they are keeping 02 canon.

It's a notoriously diffferent aesthetic, on one hand I love Atsuya Uki's style, and it was the first thing that jumped at me when I saw the poster, but I can totally see it annoying others.

I thought that style looked familiar ... it's that Cencoroll guy!

I don't find the style itself annoying, I can get behind it, it's just that I don't recognize the characters when I ignore the fact that Digimon is written on the poster and the fact where I am right now. And I thought the whole deal about this was a good portion of nostalgia, I thought they wanted to target the fans who watched Adventure as kids. And as one of these kids, there's nothing screaming „Digimon“ about this.

But all that will be forgotten once I see this in movement and once they actually show some Digimon.

I think they nailed Tai, but outside of that yeah, the poster does not evoke Digimon much, once you know who they are you see the resemblance, but without digivices or the mons themselves it feels like it's missing something.

I'm totally with you, Kiwami. I didn't dislike their looks when I woke up to see that poster this morning, but I had no idea who they were supposed to be. They aren't recognizable in that poster I feel. (After staring at it for a while and realizing it was Digimon I got them all, but it needed to be something you see instantly.)

Throw in some Digimon and it probably would have all clicked right away.

I don't like the visual style.

That's because you saw it in the Digimon thread so you instantly knew it was relevant to Digimon, especially with all the talks of a new Digimon series coming up soon.

They're implying that, if they saw the picture without any notable and obvious ties to Digimon (Title, website, where they saw the initial picture, etc), they wouldn't instantly associate it to, well, Digimon

Well that was actually part of it. I looked at the poster and I recognized every single one of the characters, even if the art style was very different from what it used to be. :)

I know everyone is gonna be like "I knew them first sight!" but I think the girls look sooooooo generic in this design. I'm not expecting Mimi to be sporting her cowboy hat or anything, but they look so typical "High school anime" that they need to be amazing as individuals to actually stand out in series.

Oh, and do Kari and Sora have the exact same face? Because it looks like they do...

Yea I picked kAiro and tj out first due to if I did not know what the uniforms looked like in adventure two of school tai went to after adventure one I would not know it. I also picked out joe.

Joe is also very easy to identify. especially by his hairstyle.
