I feel like Super is the best when they do slice of life comedy episodes like the last few episodes did and some of the early episodes of Super too.

My only problem with Super is the voices. Just get me the American voices and I'll be all in. Plus the show doesn't seem that bad. I've seen the God transformation on Youtube and it was so much better than in the movie.
|
I disagree there. It could have been much better if it didn't take 15 minutes to get there.
|
So... Is nobody going to talk about the new abridged?

Too bad it will be forever when DBZA takes on Fusion Reborn. I can already imagine some of the jokes. "I will be back again bitches. But this time I will be gold!" said by DBZA Freeza after Gohan kills him.

If they do Super or GT. I remember them saying that they may end DBZA after the Buu saga. It depends how long they want to keep it going. Since Super is already retelling BOG and ROF, so I don't see any point of DBZA doing BOG and ROF.

I'll be the bad guy this discussion and say I've never really seen the point in DBZ Abridged. Sure it gets some cheap laughs out of me on occasion and has fun with the material given. But when I want to watch DB/Z/GT I just watch them. I don't want to watch a silly condensed version. For basically the same reason I don't want to watch Kai for it's condensation, it's just that here there's also some really silly humor that doesn't always appeal to me. Like it's funny and I enjoyed the episodes I watched, which were quite a few, but it's just not something I'm overly fond of. I don'[t eagerly await the next DBZA episode or movie or anything.
|
I feel like DBZA kinda lost it's appeal once everybody got on the bandwagon.
it just became a way for people to try to make new memes and products to sell. like, references aren't jokes, and DBZA has more references than anything should know what to do with. |
I love Abridged. Episodes are hit or miss, but there are still some truly fantastic jokes in it.
"What's a kami?" "It's means god, NOW BOW!" Then there was the whole news report with all of the horror movie titles in it. However, I do agree with Deno that it won't stop me from watching the regular series. On the other hand, I will only be watching Kai from now on. Last year/early this year my watching the entire DBZ series in order in a short time span was great, but the majority of the show really is pointless. I'll go with Kai for the stuff that I can. Not to mention the dub is good. |

I like Kai over the original DBZ too. I find it hard to watch the original DBZ again because the pacing in it can be pretty bad. I'm a DB fan who is a fan of the manga over the anime. I'm used to how things move quickly in the manga over the anime. Kai feels more closer to the manga over to the anime in my opinion.
Not a fan of the filler since most of it adds nothing to the story. I like Pikkon and the driving test episode, I don't care for anything else. I always found the human Z fighters beating the Ginyu Force on King Kai's planet so easily when Vegeta, Gohan and Krillin had no luck until Goku arrived. I doubt Yamcha became stronger then Vegeta so soon and quick. |

I like the Kai English dub over the DBZ English dub (post-Ocean voice cast). I have a hard time sitting through the 1999-2003 dub of DBZ and the Ultimate Uncut dub because they have aged badly in my opinion. Shunsuke Kikuchi's music to me is so iconic that I always love it. Bruce Faulconer is good, but I don't love his music like most US fans do.

Like you I prefer the manga and I'm pretty much going to say that Battle of Gods and Resurrection F are manga canon while Super is anime canon. The only filler I can say that I truly do enjoy is the stuff during the first 6 months of the Vegeta saga. I do like getting to see what Tenshinhan and gang were doing to get stronger along with Gohan's growth from pampered baby to warrior. |

So Bebi Hatchihyack (A villain from Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans) is now a thing in Dragon Ball Heroes (on the left next to SSj4 Broly). Hopefully better quality images will show up soon.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTDKxR-VEAACA3i.jpg:large Sometimes I still laugh that yesterday's AF fan fiction is now today's reality. SSj4 Broly, SSj3 Future Trunks, Bebi Janemba and SSj4 Gohan where only stuff in Dragon Ball AF fan art and fan fiction like a decade ago. |
Is Dragon Ball Heroes even a good game? I've always been curious about it.
|
Dragon Ball Heroes is a carddass game. You can't play it unless you go to a Japanese arcade place.
|
Yeah i know but i'm curious if anybody around here has played it.
|
I doubt it. From what I've seen, they look fun. So far only SSj3 Vegeta and SSj3 Broly have appear outside of the carddass games as playable characters in video games. I would love to play as Bebi Janemba in a fighting game one day.
|
Champa and Vados show up in the newest episode of Super. Yuriko Yamaguchi (who also voice a monster in Abaranger) voiced Vados and Mitsuo Iwata voices Champa. I look forward on seeing more of them soon. So far they seem pretty cool.
|
They did release it on the 3DS actually, but the game wasn't released outside of Japan...and since the 3DS is region locked you'd need either a flash cart or a Japanese 3DS to play it.

If you guys missed out on the news, Toonami Asia will be airing the English dub of Super next summer. It won't surprise me if this is the Funimation dub since several Funimation English dubs broadcast in Asia before. It's possible that a Super English dub will air on Toonami in the US too by next summer. It did Kai took a year to air on American TV.

Ocean dub of Kai never seem to happen. They talked about doing it a long time ago and it never happen. It would be possible that they use their own English voice cast in Asia to dub Super without Funimation. However Toei likes to use Funimation as their go to English dubs of Dragon Ball for the rest of the world now.
|
So episodes 15-18 of Dragon Ball Super were actually really really good, especially 17. There are some many great moments from 17, but the best comes from Goku's Kool-Aid Man moment. However, there is a strange continuity error because Chichi mentions Bulma having another bingo game, but she never had a Bingo game in Super. WTF? That aside, this show seems to be great when it isn't just ripping off the recent movies.

Ginyu frog was seen in the new episode. Fans point out the plot holes that he should be alive on Earth if Dende said don't bring back the really evil ones back to life. Ginyu's mind and soul is still inside in the soul of the frog, so he should be dead if you ask me.

Ginyu in the frog body did die when Buu destroyed everything on Earth. He would not be wish back if Dende said do not bring back really evil people.

I think at this point, frog ginyu has probably done nothing to keep his evil status, so he probably got back in on a loophole.

Over 8000 subs have been shut down. Rumor has it on /a/ that Toei force them to shut down their fan subs. They did a pretty good job on subs since I would go to them since Dragon Team subs seem to die out.
|
You sure it wasn't... OVER 9000?!
... Sorry, bad habit. |
