Here I thought Goldar was just called Goldar because he wore gold armour.

But no, now he's literally made of gold. So stupid. And apparently he's not even a character, he's just a liquid cheese mech for Rita, and there's nothing "scary" about such a ridiculous looking monster.

Do you think the movie will do well overseas? I think the movie won't make the same amount as the TF live action movies since it's not a summer release, but I think it will probably make at least 300 - 400 million worldwide unless the word of mouth is really awful.

It's going to do explosively well in China.

I notice in the last few weeks, I see people outside the Internet in public talking about this movie. A lot of people I see and know are talking about they are very hype up to see it. I don't think the movie will bomb like most people think it will be unlike DBE and the live action Jem movie.

I think Shinji Ikari fought this once.

I find it immensely hilarious that they actually modelled Goldar off of melted food considering that's all it's ever compared to.

It's a little sad people think it will bomb. Sure Power Rangers is a joke to many but given that America loves movies like Transformers and Fast & Furious, they're gonna watch it. The only concern if it's going to be good or not.

I agree with them not looking like traditional Tokusatsu and more like generic Hollywood blockbusters. But what surprised me more are those comments regarding Zyuranger lol.

I love the recursivness of Go-Busters lifting "It's Morphin' Time" from MMPR and now its use in the new MMPR movie being viewed as lifting elements from Go-Busters.

I hope the movie is release in China, I would imagine it would do well over there. I remember a few of the PR and Sentai shows did got dubbed over there.

I think it will do well and I hope it does. It would be nice that people can see PR in a different light besides being so a bad joke. TF use to look back as a silly toy commercial from the 80's before 2007 and now it's a bigger franchise now.

Unlike Dragon Ball Evolution, this movie has people that want to see it. I remember in 2007-2009 that no one wanted to see DBE unless they want to laugh at it. The bad word of mouth and Internet buzz killed that movie.

I disagree about the DBE statements.
Unlike PR, DB is taken rather seriously by the casual anime fandom (As in, the ones who enjoy the action, not mock the 30 episodes of screaming followed by 10 episodes of filler). It has a well established place in a lot of anime fans' hearts since it and Sailor Moon were many peoples' first anime.
So seeing it changed into a high school love story made it a laughing stock since there was no way it would succeed. It was clear from the get go that the last thing the director wanted to make was a Dragon Ball movie.

So what if they decided to add a Sentai Easter Egg? I don't mean having Pre-Zyurangers suits like something small like a Japanese character named Mr. Ishinomori. The original Godzilla 2014 script did a similar thing by having a Japanese character named Honda.

Maybe. They did bring the Zyuranger staff to see the filming. Maybe they might use one of their names as a Sentai Easter egg.

So is anyone worry that this movie will be crush by other movies? Beauty and the Beast made over $170 million mostly due to decent word of mouth (70% on RT), it's a remake of a classic movie and it was popular with young girls.

We also have Ghost in the Shell and Boss Baby coming out the week after too. The original 1995 MMPR movie had to deal with summer movies like Pocahontas and Batman Forever (I know it's a PG-13 movie, but kids at the time loved Batman and the movie had a huge toyline too).

The review embargo officially ends today so opinion pieces should be coming online fairly soon.

2 reviews were up and...It's actually pretty good apparently! Hope this is the case, I'll be seeing it on Thursday

Only concern I have for now are the impending elitist critics who think they are the second coming of Siskel and Ebert. Other than that I probably will check this out on a Friday late night so I can enjoy it peacefully while chugging a big-sized americano. Or maybe a Saturday morning if I have time to spare while I eat some junk food.

I can't wait until the enevitably unfavourable reviews and the RREEEEEEing of fans who think critics are stupid.

Currently stands at 43% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, not looking too good anymore, but oh well
EDIT: Apparently one of the reviewers used always gives bad ratings for action movies, meaning it'd be 50%
DOUBLE EDIT: Said review criticized the movie for not being diverse enough with Muslims, Jews and LGBT

I hope Redlettermedia with special guest star Rich Evans do a Half in the Bag review of this when it comes out so they can get a lot of Power Rangers history wrong and piss off all the fans with their normie perspective.

I particularly enjoy it when they deliberately set out to draw a fandom into frothing rage.

Cue Mike staring blankly into the camera as if daring the fans to fall for his obvious bait.

And so many will. So. Many. Will.

It won't surprise me if critics don't like the movie. They will probably be like "It's nothing like the Avengers!" and give it a low score.

So far it's 44% on the Tomatometer, 4 positive reviews, 5 negative

And if it isn't as good as Avengers and isn't a good movie it deserves a low score. I hate this demonization of critics. Their opinion is just as valid as everyone elses.

I demonize them because the idiot masses idiotically blindly follow their reviews and don't take the time to watch something and decide for themselves.

So you hate someone for doing their job becasue other people are idiots? Sure, whatever.

Uh...no. I hate them because of people are too lazy to form their own opinions and treat critics like their word is law and gospel. Does that suit you better? If not, then talk to the hand. *holds up hand to block* I'm going all out gay today people.

Which still isn't the critics fault. But yeah if you instantly block off like that I see their isn't even a conversation to be had here.
