Gunbuster is awesome and is one of my favorite Super Robot Mecha series. I also consider it to be one of Gainax best work next to Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise. I didn't like Diebuster as much as Gunbuster in my opinion.

Tiger Mask W is now going all out it seems. More wrestlers with a tiger mask appear! The Third is ruthless like no other and the the new tigers are awesome in their own right as well.

I just finished Gunbuster. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it, but overall I enjoyed it. Slight spoilers, if anybody cares. First and foremost, I absolutely ADORE the art. late 80s and early 90s sci-fi anime contains some of the best artwork I've ever seen, and this is no exception - especially in the last episode. The story was interesting, but a bit...strange? I feel like the way they implemented time dilation doesn't make much sense. Like....why would they be worried about an attack happening the next day when it takes them like a week to get to where the enemy is? Other than that, though, the story was great. The pacing was a bit odd, however, and I feel like that made things a bit confusing. Though, on the other hand, it was refreshing to see something different, and if it had a more traditional narrative structure, I don't think it would have been as enjoyable. As for the mecha action...well, there was barely any. Gunbuster's few fights were all awesome, but aside from that it seemed more like a space opera than a fully blown super robot series. I absolutely highly recommend the series though - even if it's not exactly your cup of tea, it was such a unique experience, and it had a clear impact on a lot of shows that came later.

Attack on Titan season 2 is now over. I enjoyed it, but then I already knew I liked this arc so seeing it adapted was nice. It's the next one I still feel will really turn people.
Fortunately, we don't have long to wait! It's already confirmed as coming next year. ^_^ |

I need something new to view. Tiger Mask W seems to be wrapping up.

Spriggan - I have not watch any anime in a while because I've been very busy lately. I remember Spriggan was hype up as the next big thing back in 1998 and Katsuhiro Otomo's (Akira) name was use for the marketing of this movie.
The movie is nowhere on the same level as Akira, but I still think Spriggan is a solid action movie. The movie is very entertaining to watch from start to finished. I found the story and characters to be very interesting. I find it very cool that Noah's Ark is actually the Great Flood, and it was created from alien technology. In the movie, we find out that Noah's Ark is responsibe for creating all life on Earth and I really dig that idea. I also like how they have Pentagon that wants to use the Ark for global supremacy to be a cool idea. Yu Ominae was a pretty cool character and I did like that he start to know more about the character later in the movie. All of the other characters felt rather flat and I wish more development could have been done for them. I do like the main villain and I found his motivations to be very cool. He is a very fun character and I think having look like a little kid is supposed to represent of a kid in the sandbox. The kid being a God and the Ark being a sandbox for a kid to play and build stuff. Seeing that the main villain wanted to use the Ark to rebuild the Earth again in his own image. The animation in this movie is fantastic and it still looks good after almost 20 years later. The action sequences are fast and nicely animated. Both the Japanese and English voice acting is very good as well. Overall, Spriggan is a solid action anime movie from start to finish. The movie is not a masterpiece like Akira is and I'm glad that this movie is not trying to be the next Akira. If you enjoy action anime and want a fun pop corn flick, I recommended checking out Spriggan. I give Spriggan a 7/10. |
Attack on Titan season 2 had a pretty boring start but half way through it became amazing. This last episode was no exception. It was cool to see Eren finally avenge his mother. Plus we learned that Titans used to be humans. I'm so glad season 3 is coming next year unlike the four year gap between season one and two.

Yeah a lot of any negativity I felt watching this season was thinking "this is all we're getting" the whole time. Really didn't help. Wonder how it might'e been different knowing from the start we'd get more for sure and soon..
Anywho, been binging My Hero Academia over the past few days. Just a couple more episodes until I'm caught up. This is a pretty fun show. |

Debating which I want to watch first, Wolf's Rain or Outlaw Star. I'm considering OS first since I've only seen the show when it aired on Toonami, so I never saw it uncut nor the episodes they skipped. On the other hand, I have been craving Wolf's Rain, which I haven't watched in about 10 years.
|
Both are good shows, I say go for Outlaw Star since you only seen the shitty TV-Y7 edited episodes.

I've actually been watching Tiger Mask W ever since it started too and episode 37 was awesome. Loved how they finally put the "W" in Tiger Mask W and they saved some animation budget for the final fight with The Third as well, it looked really good.
I was afraid they would stretch the fight over two episodes, but apparently, the last episode is more of an epilog with a focus on Haruna which I'm totally fine with. So yeah, not an amazing show by any means, but as a simple "dudes beat each other up"-kinda deal it was entertaining, I liked the characters quite a bit too. But I see no need to binge-watch wrestling animes from now on either, I just catch the next big thing and see if I like it or not. |
I watched the first episode to this series called Seven Deadly Sins. Is the whole thing just an adaptation of Seven Samurai or does it do its own thing?

I'm watching the new Lupin the Third on Toonami and I'm glad that the new show returns back to the classic roots of the series. I hope more people check out the new Lupin anime because it's great.

You do not see the other Lupin stuff to enjoy it. If you want to watch the older stuff, I recommended checking out the first three shows and Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro. You can get the first two TV shows on DVD from Discotek and right now that Part 3 is not on home video in the US.
Lupin the Third The Fuma Conspiracy, Legend of the Gold of Babylon and The Mystery of Mamo are also worth checking out too. |

Stuff to check out next month: The Reflection, Robomasters, some Picotaro anime.
Stuff I need to finish: kabukibu |
Only series I'm currently planning on picking up in the starting season are The Reflection and Fate/Apocrypha. And continuing to watch My Hero.
Oh and I guess I'm anticipating Little Witch Academia hitting Netflix a little. A lot of people seemed to like it and I have liked a lot of Trigger's shows so going to give it a shot. |

Actually, speaking, is there any confirmation we're getting a dub? I'd renew my Netflix subscription just for LWA

Anyways, my obsession with Evangelion has piqued the interest of some of the other students in this program who haven't seen it yet, so I started another re-watch with them last night. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it at this point  |
Castle of Cagliostro is fantastic, I highly recommended it Kain since you have not seen it yet.

I haven't watch any of Gainax's newer anime after Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt since I hear most of their staff move on to other companies. Even before Panty & Stocking, I find Gainax's work after Evangelion to be hit or miss. I like FLCL and I could not get into Melody of Oblivion. I did like Gurren Lagaan a lot when it was brand new, but I found myself getting sick of it as time went on. A lot of friends love Gurren Laggan and they would always play it when I would hang out with them. I don't think it is a bad series, but not the best thing ever made. |

Watched everything I could of Little Witch Academia on Netflix (...freaking seriously... "we didn't want people to binge it too fast" being the excuse for not having it all at once is such utter bullshit from that platform of all things), so to fansubs it was!
Just finished episode 22. Holy hell did that one deliver. That one reveal explains pretty much... everything so far. Such brilliant work from Trigger here. LWA started out as a lot of lightheared fun. Didn't expect it to take the turn it has, but it's thoroughly enjoyable. |
Just finished Stardust Crusaders. The big takeaway is JoJo has no fucking idea how long seconds last.
Still, I enjoyed Part 3 well enough, certainly more than the first couple. I didn't really dig the second half as much, since it started to feel pretty dragged out (and I don't know what point there was for Kakyoin to be absent for practically all of it), but it was alright. I'm actually looking forward to starting Part 4 soon. Unfortunately I had a lot of spoilers going into SC (including all the deaths), which was a bit lame. I know very little about Diamond is Unbreakable, though. Should be entertaining enough. On a different track though, what the fuck does Araki have against dogs? I lost track of how many of them were brutalized over the course of the show. I mean, I guess the series started with Dio burning one alive and so maybe I should have seen it coming, but, my god. While not amazing, LWA was a pretty good, fun show. I'm glad you're enjoying it. |
Done with Tiger Mask W and Kabukibu. Now on with searching for new anime.

On the note of Araki and dogs, Araki has nothing personal against dogs, it's just that he wants readers/viewers to hate the antagonists so he has them kill dogs. He's even stated in an interview that his least favourite characters are people he purposely tries to draw as unpleasant and he uses Vanilla Ice and what he does to Iggy as an example, stating he felt legitimately sick when drawing the former. |

recently watched Laputa a Hayao Miyazaki film and noticed Nadia had a lot of similarities mainly due to Nadia anime was first thought up as the concept by Miyazaki himself.
