Only just watched the first two episodes... I can certainly say it's very pretty. But I do hope we get some more explanations about their world soon, because oh do I have questions.
The main character seems fun though, and that I want to know more about the world already is really a good thing because it has me interested. So I think it's off to a good start. |
Inuyashiki - I finish the series the other night on Amazon Prime and I only read the first two volumes of the manga. I really like the show, but I can admit that it could have been better.
I did like Ichirou Inuyashiki a lot as the main character because he was very likeable and it was nice to have a main character to be some old dude, not someone in High School o Middle School. You also have the main villain named "Shishigami Hiro". He is a pretty cool villain for the most part. I do felt like the show focus too much on him than the other characters. I really like the first few episodes the most because Ichirou's character is cool and likeable. Another issue with this anime is the supporting cast since most of them felt underdeveloped and could have a bigger focus. In the first episode, Ichirou's family are pretty selfish and didn't really care about what was going on in his life. I do wish his family would have a bigger focus on the story. Not to mention we never got a background of the aliens or any other understanding of the how or why the two characters become cyborgs. The show also deals with themes like what it means to be human when becoming a machine, but never really executed the themes very well. The animation is really good for the most part expect for the CG in some scenes. Some of it look really bad and lazy. I also really like the music in this anime and the intro theme was so much fun to listen too. The voice acting was good as well. Overall, Inuyashiki is a fun show with a good main character, great action scenes and a pretty interesting villain. This show is not perfect, but I still really enjoy it. I do wish it was a 20 episode series instead since the manga is 10 volumes long and 11 episodes is not enough to adapt the manga. I will probably read the rest of the manga and will buy the show on Blu-Ray. I will rate the show a 7/10 (Good). I do recommended the show for people who like Seinen anime or cyborg superhuman characters like 8 Man and Casshan. |
Good lord, Clear Card is precious.

Finished Land of the Lustrous the other day.
It is gorgeous and sad and I want more. |
For people who enjoy Devilman: Crybaby, here are other titles from Go Nagai that I recommended to check out.
Demon Prince Enma - A soft sequel/reboot to the original Enma-kun. This series features demon hunters and has a similar dark tone with blood, gore and hellish looking monsters. Demon Lord Dante - The manga that Go Nagai created before Devilman. The TV series has a weak animation budget and a somewhat confusing ending. It is still worth checking out in my opinion. Devil Lady - A spin off series and it is different from the manga. I still think it was pretty good in my opinion. Getter Robo Armageddon - I know Getter Robo is mostly Ken Ishikawa work, but it is still excellent. This is one of the best Super Robot Wars anime in my opinion. I consider it to be better than the original Getter Robo series. Mazinkaiser - I don't like it as much as Shin Mazinger, but it's still good in my opinion. I also have a soft spot for it because it was my first Go Nagai title that I saw on a VHS fan sub copy back in the day. Mazinkaiser SKL - Another mecha series. Heavy metal as fuck! Shin Mazinger Shougeki Z-hen (Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!) - Another modern version of a Go Nagai classic. I remember it even has references to the Devilman manga panel for panel. The animation is way ahead of it's time in my opinion. Shutendoji - Another horror series from Go Nagai. The main character in Shutendoji also loses his humanity to battle demons. Violence Jack - The sequel series to Devilman, but it stands on it's own. The manga never got fully translated. So you may have to set with the OVAs for now. The OVAs are pretty much grindhouse exploitation films. They are not for everyone. |
I've gotten back into Urusei Yatsura after like...maybe a year?
Christ I'm pretty sure everyone who worked on this show was on drugs. |
Started watching Darling in the Franxx and Basilisk sequel.
|
I watched Episode 13 of Pingu in the City and it was amazing! I recommend you watch it! :)
|
I have been in a Go Nagai mood again recently after watching Devilman Crybaby. I'm currently re-watching Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z Hen and the show still holds up to me. I'm 6 episodes in and I still love it.

Who watches Detective Conan?
|
Ugh... Have picked up nothing new this season. All 3 shows I wanted to watch were taken by Netflix in the US. >_< And I want to actually watch them on there to show support for official translations, but uuuugh... And one of them, Violet Evergarden, getting simulcasting in almost literally every other country especially sucks.
Might break for Fate/Extra though (to have something new to watch, and liking Fate enough), which granted did just start today. But it's still not clear if any fansub groups will even be taking this one on. One for sure, who's done Fate shows before, has said they aren't... So might even just end up having to wait. |

Watching the dub of Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody which is only two episodes in and so far the show is not bad.
|
So I did break and watched Fate when the fansbus came out last week.
But now we've had comparisons since then of the difference between the broadcast version (which I watched) and the Netflix version and... ohhh boy is it big. Much prettier in the latter. So thinking I might wait now for it to come to Netflix US and watch it properly. Maybe I'll find something in my massive backlog to watch in the meantime while I wait for all those shows to get done ha. |
I've been watching Kouta Hirano's "Drifters" lately. I love it.

Finally saw this thing called Kakegurui annnnnndddddd... whuttheheckdidIjustwatch. This anime is BONKERS. :lolol
Fun fact though, the live action drama is currently running and it seems there are a lot of familiar faces in it. Protagonist guy is Ryugen from Gaim, Zyuoh Shark from Zyuohger is a crazy student council member with a revolver and thinks death is the ultimate euphoria, Poppy from Ex-Aid is a rich brat, and Mayu, the girl Hongo protects in that Kamen Rider 1 movie featuring Ghost and Kamen Rider 1 is roided out, is a student council member who acts all traditional. Other than that I am continuing to watch Osomatsu-san season 2, and finally I got on the Pop Team Epic bandwagon as well. |
So I try to watch Kakegurui on Netflix because I want to check out the hype behind it. I remember hearing about it last summer and I think the show sucks to be honest. I give up after 4 episodes because I really did not like it. I don't see the big deal behind this show?
I find none of the main characters to be enjoyable and the fan service at times can be annoying for a show that is meant to be taken serious. There's a lot of high stake gambling matches in the show, but none of it felt like it pay off very well. With other similar shows like Kaiji, you have way more depth to the story and characters with gambling seeing how that show deals with themes of human survival and greedy rich people screwing over society. Kakegurui comes off boring and predictable with no real pay off to it. I have no plans on finishing the rest of the show. The only good thing that I can say about the show is that the animation was good. Everything else suck in my opinion. I would suggest to check out Kaiji or Liar Game (Manga and Japanese live action TV show. There is no anime adaption) instead. |
I just watched the first episode of Kirakira Precure A la Mode.
I liked it more than Hugtto's first episode at least, but I can't say much more because a) I've only watched this first episode and b) Hugtto only has two episodes far regardless. |
So I watched the live action Fullmetal Alchemist film. It ranged from okay to meh to bad-ish. But like all live-action adaptations, it suffers greatly from having to condense several chapters/episodes into a 1-2 hour film.
The film made several big changes from the manga/anime. Marcoh is killed, Winry takes on a more sidekick role, Tucker lives and is killed by Lust, Lust is killed at Lab 5, Envy takes on Mustang's appearance to kill Hughes (framing the Colonel for his murder instead of Ross), Gluttony's "false gate" form is used to regularly eat people (not when he's incredibly mad), the Mannequin Soldier homunculi are introduced in Lab 5, Mustang's "rival" Halcrow (in the film he's General Hakuro) is responsible for creating the mannequin soldiers and seems to be working against the Homunculi's plans, and more. One of the main problems of the film is that it couldn't decide who the antagonist/s were. It was just several villains doing bad stuff because plot. Much like the manga and anime, the Homunculi are set up as the antagonists but by the film's conclusion they don't really do much to justify this. They try to make Shou Tucker an antagonist but that falls flat as well. They try to make General Hakuro the final antagonist but it came out of nowhere and he wasn't interesting as a antagonist. Also, a lot of emotional moments from the series are kind of brushed away quickly or don't hold a huge importance to the characters and their motivations. They set up the Nina/Alexander Chimera but without introducing Scar and the film's condensing of the plot, that moment doesn't play a big part for Edward and Alphonse later on. The same is for Hughes' death . One of the most important moments in the series and it's just brushed over. And because of the condensed plot, a lot of characters are missing or aren't as interesting as they are in the manga/anime. Mustang is boring. Roy Mustang! One of the best characters in the manga/anime and the film makes him boring. It was ok/bad/meh but would've been handled better as a tv show (given that this was for Netflix, it could've worked if done well). |
Finished up Land of the Lustrous this morning and had a really great time with it. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the characters fun and the world incredibly immersive. I really hope it gets a second season though because there are just so many questions left unanswered, and while I know I could always just go and pick up the manga it'd be a shame to carry on the story without that beautiful animation.

Decided to try The Seven Deadly Sins and finished the first season in three days. It was fun and would of finished it quicker but had work.
Once I watch the OVA Holy War I think I will give B: The Beginning a try since the first episode reminded me of Skull Man. I just hope it goes better than Skullman. |
Saw some of Fate Apocrypha. It was okay I guess.
Still chugging along that Osomatsu bandwagon. |
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj7oqvwOmoU
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FiHQtrkfdcY Everything definitely IS all right! |
I would like that opening more if I was shown it while I was still in school. The original dub opening is still the better and more catchy one.
|
Saw Saiki K again and it lead to me buying some of the manga volumes randomly. I hope to see the live action film apparently it is decent. Has Kamen Rider Meteor as Kaido the chunibyo dork so I am looking forward to it. :lolol
|
I finished watching Sakigake!! Otokojuku and Pingu in the City. I'll watch Chi's Sweet Adventure 2 for the Summer Holidays
|
Watching Captain Tsubasa. They updated the time period to nowadays which works well. And Kintaros is the dad while Ryutaros is the rival. And Gosei Knight is the soccer coach who can still pull off his mad soccer skills while buzzed from whisky.

Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card is adorable.

Let see what shows have I been watching.
The new Inazuma Eleven The one show where the girl opens up a restaurant to help pay a debt or she will become an ogre god's bride. Devils Line Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody Finishing up Overlord this week Darling in Franxx Mahou Shojou Site Food Wars Tokyo Ghoul Re: There is another one but the site I go to hasn't put the next episode up yet. |
Captain Tsubasa is on my top watch list followed by another remake Magic Circle Guru Guru, which is a classic jrpg trope and cliche ridden comedy fantasy show from the 90s originally.
|
I watched the first 3 episodes of Chi's Sweet Adventure Season 2 and they are Super Awesome! :D
