Abaranger 30. Plots moving forward with AbareMax being the next episode. Honestly, these characters are so good, Ryoga's one of the more unique Reds solely because of Mai imo. Top 3 Sentai for sure
|
I watched discs 6-8 of Carranger today, so I am done. YAY!!!
Of course, god dammit Shout! Factory! The timing for the subs on episodes 41 and 42 were as bad as they were only episode 26. UGH!! Hopefully we can bug them enough to fix this. |
Oh my god. Geki 31
I think I found the first episode of Gekiranger that can be called filler! The Gekirangers' plot is about teaching a kid the value of teamwork, and the Rin plot is about Rio and Mele walking. That said, there is still some relevant happenings. Notably, Maku is revealed to know Long, and Xia Fu stopping by the confront Rio and Mele at the end (Which was literally just walking up to them and episode end). However, technically speaking, nothing really happened that moved the plot forward. Quote:

Geki 32
Rio and Mele reach the holy grounds, but are intercepted by the Kensei, but likewise intercepted by the Kenma, and then the Gekirangers show up and everyone loses. I love this episode. We get a crapton of backstory on the relationship between the Kensei and Kenma, how the Geki-Rin Rebellion began, and we even learn of the originator, Brusa Ee. It's awesome. Honestly, my key complaint is that they drop a little too much info. We get all of that, plus the revelation of the Juken God, Saidain, that it's basically Brusa Ee's soul powering it, Maku's reasoning for why he is, the reason why Ken went to the holy grounds to begin with, AND the reason for why the animal transformation is a bad thing (Beyond, ya know...Being an animal person) and why the Kensei took a vow of non-violence (It strayed from Brusa's original teachings). And only half of that exposition was dropped naturally :lol Still, despite the huge amount of backstory, I think it's pretty solid, since it gives us a lot of history~ |
After watching some of ToQger i recently went back to watching Hurricaneger and i honestly think that Hurricaneger might be the best Ninja Sentai team they get the Teamwork thing from the get go and like each other also from the get go compared to a lot of the other teams

Gokaiger 45
I want to watch Kaku now, Ninjaman is awesome :lol. |

I'm rewatching Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Returns vs. Dōbutsu Sentai Go-Busters. Good gravy, I forgot how genius this thing is. |

I feel like I've made a mistake by watching Kakuranger.
Now if BoA ever comes out with a Legacy Shogun Megazord I know I'm gonna need to get it. Gonna set me back so much. Also lamenting the death of Sentai Figuarts a few years too late. >accurate Kakuranger figures never ever Why even live. |
So after watching Carranger vs Ohranger I watched episodes 9-18 of Changeman. The episodes have gotten more entertaining, and I'm glad to have a real female villain over Dr Girlfriend, but god damn the rangers are pretty one dimensional. I mean, yeah, there's been some slight, "Oh, I grew up doing this" bits, but nothing I would really say changes who they are from when the series started. Also, the mech battles are a bore to sit through. There was one episode where the mech battle did not even need to be there. Come to think of it, holy shit, was the 90s and early 2000s the only time a mech battle did not need to occur every episode?
|
I got to episode 30 of Kakuranger, and even in the harder hitting moments I still can't find myself enjoying it. I've decided to put it on hold for a bit and started Shinkenger on a friends request. I'm enjoying it a fair bit in the first couple episodes, it feels good to be able to distinguish the characters after having so much trouble doing that with Kakuranger. The suits are super badass too (I don't really like reds mask though)

Ninjaman is such a cool doofus. Shame the only fig of him is a giant flipchanger with little articulation. Quote:

Just finished Kakuranger earlier on today.
Someone already mentioned how these "evil can't be defeated, it all cycles back" endings feel rather unsatisfying? Though in the case of Kakuranger it felt slightly more satisfying than Dairanger's ending for example. Now giving Sun Vulcan a shot. |
Currently finished Abaranger 37. I honest to god love Ryoga, he's very unique as he's a parent too. Mech designs are also the best I saw outside of Gekichopper's. Also Regel's fucking face. Goddamn

DekaRanger 12.
The intro had me laughing already but what came after was both disturbing and hilarious at the same time. Umeko episodes are kinda like this huh? First Murphy now Amy. But as always, a picture says more than a thousand words: http://i.imgur.com/SofYWxo.jpg |
I haven't actually posted about it in a while since I don't have too much to say that I haven't already, but I'm up to episode 35 of Shinkenger and still loving every second of it. All the good stuff I've said still stands, but as for more fresh thoughts:
- Stupid Little Thing Only I Care About #1: Since I've actively been paying attention to the writing credit each episode, I can't help but find it kind of hilarious it shows up during the line about "the power of words" in the song. That's one heck of a coincidence. - Stupid Little Thing Only I Care About #2: I've always really liked how the "王" on Mogyu Dai-Oh's chest gets flipped upside down to become the "全" on Samurai Ha-Oh's. It's so obvious, yet so smooth. - Now that he's been around for a while, I can definitively say Genta's nowhere near as obnoxious as I was expecting. He makes weird faces like nobody's business, for sure, but he's not really that loud (anymore), gets serious when the situation calls for it, and is just generally such a helpful, competent member of the team it's hard to complain. - The acting from the main cast in this show is really something. You're telling me this was literally Tori Matsuzaka's first role period? Man, get the f*** outta here. No wonder his career took off. Dude deserved it. - I really like Daigoyou. Of course, I have a thing for mecha that are characters to begin with, but he's a cool dude. Instead of explaining why though, I'll simply leave you all to ponder this out of context screencap: http://i.imgur.com/pj7HuGi.jpg |
Just finished episode 7 of Shinkenger and holy moly the main cast is so likable. Even Chiaki who started off kinda sour. Out of all of the sentai i've seen this has my favourite main cast by far!
|
The cast is probably the only strong point of Shinkenger. At least until they ruined it with Genta.
|
I was supposed to be posting every 2 episodes, but I forgot and just watched 8 episodes of Gekiranger.
Meh. It's still awesome, though :lol |

Finished Abarager! That was a typo but before I corrected it I realized it fits!
Ryoga has a unique trait as a parent which makes him a joy to watch! Yukito had good moments but is my least favourite Asuka's thing with Jeanne took a biiiit too long but was otherwise pretty good Ranru needed more episodes but she was great Killer...Fuck man, easily the best ranger I've seen yet! |

Also, in the episode where Miki pilots SaiDaiOh, I love how Bae notes it's actually moving better. Poor Ken :p |
Just finished Megaranger today, this series has definitely made my Top 5.
|
I really want to like GoGoFive and Boukenger...I don't know why I can't get to that point though...lol.
|
I think I'm beginning to take a liking to GoGoFive, only because of Matsuri. Even though I'm 10 episodes in, she's definitely one of the best female rangers out of all the Sentai I've seen.

goranger episode 1
wow even with what happen in this episode it is still feel fun also it is funny thatone of the general die in episode 1 now i wish i can watch the whole series |
Just wait. Matoi becomes hands down one of the best red rangers ever. There's a reason you don't fuck with a red ranger!
I watched episodes 19-26 of Changeman today. I enjoyed what I watched, especially one episode that featured a rockstar monster of the week. That was a really great episode. The mech battles remain to vary from borderline boring to down right dreadful, but at least I got to see what was apparentely the first underwater mech battle of the franchise, so it was nice to see a change of scenery for the whole 20 seconds it lasted. The rangers are pretty generic took and I still can't tell Blue and Red apart when they are wearing their uniforms. My favorites right now are a toss up between white and black. Pink also seems to suffer from Disney Princess Itis as she instantly fell in love with this one dude. Not even 18 minutes later she is in tears because he headed off to another planet and we get a flashback scene of how they met. Yes, of the scenes that happened like 15 minutes prior. WTF? The villains are very incosistent though. Sometimes they have personality, other times they don't. Dr Girlfriend makes no sense to me and I don't get the competition between Ahames and Giluke. I know they rebelled against Bozoo at one point, but Ahames seemed like she wanted nothing to do with Bozoo in her first episode and then is suddenly begging for forgiveness. Huh? o_O |
@Dr Kain what about bubba?
also sheema voice really creep me out also seems people didn't really talk about turboranger and five man |
Quote:
I can't tell if Sheema is actually a guy cross dressing or a woman that has had a man's voice dubbed over her. I don't care for Turboranger one bit. In fact, it's one of my least favorite Sentai shows ever. The only ones worse than it in my book are Goseiger and Ninninger. |

I really don't like the kid actors in this series lol. |
Finished my Carranger review today:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Os41nn9uZfI Also watched episodes 27-34 of Changeman. They were enjoyable, but the show doesn't wow me in any way, shape, or form. I mean, I can understand why it was popular due to its new ideas at the time, but not enough that it was given an additional 5 episodes when series that are superior were not given an extra month. The mech battles are still bland, but Ahames is finally starting to get interesting. On the other hand, good riddance to Giluke. Good god that dude did absolutely nothing. Even his final battle was a joke. All he did was stand there and deflect shots and then get blown up by the cannon. Where was the fight choreography? They never even actually had a melee battle with him. |
The final fight against Long in Gekiranger is just so beautiful! Aside from ending on the sealing technique, which is a bit anticlimactic, it's just done so well!
Damn, I love Gekiranger! It's just so good! The villains are so fleshed out due to most episodes dedicating 1/3rd of it's time to them (Some even giving half of their run time to them), and the heroes are so great and lovable that it's always great to watch them interact! Man, I wish all Sentai could be as good as Gekiranger~ |
Watched episodes 39-49 of Changeman today. I'm not sure what happened, but the show has lost a lot of steam during the second half of these episodes. There was one episode that had a villian named Prince Icarus and there was absolutely no energy to the episode whatsoever. I feel like everyone was worn out when this episode was filmed as everyone pretty much seemed to be acting on autopilot. The fights were down right boring.
They also dragged out Ghost Giluke way too much and I swear you could have a drinking content for every time they say "Super" for Giluke's upgrade. Also, come on guys, by the 49th episode you should be ready to shoot Gyodai the moment he appears to make a monster grow. Still not sure why this show had 55 episodes. I did like the design for the snake form of Dr Girlfriend though. That was cool. However, they've yet to explain why she talks like a man when she had a normal voice when she lost her memory. I also wish they had done more with Booba being a space pirate. |

I finished Changeman just a few minutes ago. I'm not sure how I feel about it right now, but I will say this, Bazoo is hands down the worst Sentai villain ever. Even Genus turned out to be more exciting than him.
