Might as we go out with it: YES, I have issues with the fans, but really how would anyone react to having to deal with something you're just not interested in, every single day?

I'm just sick and tired of being treated like I'm an idiot for not liking a show. I like Faust's work, I like shoujo and other things normally thought of as "Girl's stuff" and I like Steven Universe; I just had a rough time of dealing with MLP spam and having a member practically insult me and nearly everything I care for has made me bitter towards the fanbase.

All I want is respect. I don't hate the show; I just hate its diehard fans that rip on anything because it doesn't fit their standards.

And that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to point out that MLP portrays those elements quite well. The main character achieved demigodhood through academics, camaraderie and public works projects and not "destiny" or "because the producers thought it'd be funny."
How's that for "living beyond your dreams?"

I wonder how shows for little kids (Nick Jr, Playhouse Disney, PBS Kids, qubo) is fairing...

At any rate you're not an idiot for liking a show. It's just a matter of taste. And we do (or at least I do) respect that.

But I will at least add that MLP does embody some really cool aspects of superhero shows as well. Genre is not really a limiting factor. :)

Hey, their stuff is pretty appropriate for their age. :p I think Dora and like Blues' Clues were fun ages ago. Sesame Street is pretty good too. Now, that Princess Sophia the First thing looks fun, but I simply don't have the channel anymore.

I always trust that the people behind these shows try to make sure parents can sit there with the kids and watch along without wanting to claw their eyes out.

Maybe it's just being stodgy, but I feel Sesame Street and Arthur were better when I was a kid! :lol

Funny, it's the other way around for me. I didn't like Sesame Street as a kid, but I've now grown to appreciate it. :lol
