I wish there were more vampire stories like the Cancer episode of Cells At Work.
Unnatural abominations who deserve to die for their existence, where the audience is told to hate them by virtue of what they are because what they are is horrifying out of Universe and in-Universe, they act all sympathetic and like victims when every second they exist victimizes their world. And everyone is happy when they die. Because we are supposed to hate cancer because we know what cancer does to people. Regardless if he actually wants to be evil. |
FLCL Alternative so far is really good and I may like it better than the second FLCL season. I still wonder if the characters from the first season will return back or not.
|
Yeah I'm enjoying Alternative a lot more too. I'm not sure where exactly it's going (or even if it's going anywhere to be honest) but it feels a lot fresher than Progressive did.
|
Okay, so I've been watching Dragon Ball Super because my friend has been bugging me to. I just finished the Future Trunks arc.
Can somebody, please explain to me how Zamasu's time bullshit worked? |
Started "Double Decker! Doug & Kirill". I think this will be a fun show.
|
Between series right now. Thinking about starting Cells at Work, and waiting on the new shows and seasons to start up, got a few I'm keeping an eye on that look good in the new round of stuff.

Similar to how the timeline was changed out of during the Android saga/Cell Saga. Same as Cell himself is from a future where future Trunks died, which is how Cell got the timeship to go back in time to fight them. Pretty much the same timeline shenanigans of previous future Trunks. It follows the same rules as that one's timeline rules, plus adding in a few new caveats about the time rings/paradox rings. Think of it like back to the future. Origin point is where the timelines diverge, all timelines can travel back to this point, but then timelines diverge out of it like forks in roads or spiderweb strands. When a strand is snipped off, it becomes a paradox/time ring(which is part of why timeline changes are forbidden normally). That's multiverse theory essentially. Parallel world theory is a variation on that, that also stems from evolutionary path differences. Alternate future ones are based on the randomness of choice and the path not taken. Evolutionary path ones work similarly but are based even further in the past during the formation of life on a world, and the foundation of its laws of physics. In full multiverse theory, it goes something like every choice ever made has a divergent path. Which also includes potentially everything from the big bang on up. And then there's also other dimensions that are out of sync to a world. Like HIFL etc. So Zamasu is from two alternate futures. One of him took over Goku's body. The other didn't. And then there's the normal Universe 7 timeline where none of that happened and was stopped from happening. TBH, it makes about as much sense as the Android saga does. So it's true to their own rules. |
I've been thinking about starting Cells at Work too. Looks really interesting. Anyone else taken a look at it?

Yes. Good show. Balances cute SOL and "holy fucking shit, my cells are badass." |
Continuing to go through HxH 2011 and the various JoJo's Bizzare Adventure shows in dub, and man, the dub is not as funny as the sub for JoJo, still funny though, also finished Gundam Build Divers.

Tokusatsu reference heaven been enjoying It. |
Just caught back up on Gridman after not watching for a couple of weeks. I absolutely love this series, holy crap. Also just watched episode 365 of One Piece. Normally I watch One Piece episodes in groups, so only watching one was kind of weird. It makes it way more obvious just how slow the series is.

The anime that I watched this year and I didn't watch very many. I will rank the ones from best to worst.
The Night is Short, Walk on Girl - Fantastic Devilman Crybaby - Fantastic Mr. Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues - Probably the funniest anime in a while. Psycho-Pass - Not perfect, but still a great anime in my opinion. Glad that I watched it. Mirai - Very good movie. FLCL 2 - Not as good as the first FLCL, but still pretty good. FLCL 3 - Same above^ Inuyashiki - Good premise, needs better execution. I still find it to be a fun anime nevertheless. Pop Team Epic - The show can be both very funny and cringey at times. I find it to be very 50/50. Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters - Meh Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle - Utter dogshit I felt rather burn out by anime for the first time in a long time. So decided to catch up on movies and books that I wanted to watch and read instead. In 2019, I will try to catch up on some more titles like Gridman and the recent Garo anime from a while ago. |
Anime I've watched eh?
Jojo Vento Aureo, MHA season 3, Pop Team Epic, Devilman Crybaby, Cutie Honey, Re: Cutie Honey, Shin Cutie Honey, Cutie Honey Universe, 3 episodes of Seven Deadly Sins, 10 episodes of Dirty Pair and Dragon Ball Super Champa arc. Enjoyed all of it except for Cutie Honey Universe, which was very disappointed and included some of the franchise's more gross moments despite having some really cool ideas, and Seven Deadly Sins. Can NOT find a single thing to like about this show |
I got into BNHA this year. I've yet to start the third season but it's good, I like it.
Also watched the Patlabor TV series this year. I have yet to start the sequel OVAs but it's good, I like it. Didn't really watch that much stuff this year, too busy punishing other hobbies, and there's not a lot that feels worth bringing up. But Asobi Asobase was the shit, one of my favorite seasonals I've seen and definitely stands out as a highlight of the year. Also, Zombieland Saga is really fun, I'm still like a third away from finishing, but I really like it. And Kamen Rider Ex-Aid has good taste in zombies. Also just generally happy JoJo is airing, got caught up with the anime mid-last year, and it's just such a fun watch. Oh, and I'm also really happy with Hugtto Precure after a couple years of not really being interested in the currently airing Cures. It's real good. So behind on all this shit though lmao. I wish Kaiji had more seasons instead of these dang spin-offs. |
It has been quite sometime since I watched an anime series outside of re-watching Transformers Armada as well checking its original Japanese counterpart. I started watching The Devil Is A Part-Timer! since this series is going to taken out Netflix instant viewing at the end of this month. It looks pretty enjoyable so far.

I saw Ghost in the Shell last Friday actually, ended up enjoying it and was shocked to see Build and Geed's composer debut here. That also had Patlabor guys so I really should watch it
|
If you like Ghost in the Shell, you should check out Angel's Egg. It's from the same director (Mamoru Osshii) and it is a true piece of art in my opinion.

This week we ended up watching 5 episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho. I did NOT expect to like this show as much as I ended up doing
EDIT: Uncut dub for those curious |
Yu Yu Hakusho is great. I need to revisit the show since I haven't seen it in the last 15 years.
|
I'm now finishing up on watching The Devil Is A Part-Timer! and I have to say that it is indeed one of the most enjoyable and easily one of the funniest series I've ever watched, anime or otherwise. The whole concept of the series is well-executed if a bit silly (albeit of the good kind) filled with very likable characters and its English dub only just reaffirms my love for dubbed anime. I can see why this show certainly deserves more than one season since the original source material it's based on is still ongoing last I checked.

Finished My Hero Academia season two.
|
Randomly felt nostalgic for Tatsunoko VS Capcom so I decided to start watching the original Casshern anime, enjoying it quite a bit so far. Also catching up to the Tournament of Power arc in DBS

Rewatch two movies this month.
Night is Short, Walk on Girl (2017) - Still easily one of my favorite movie of this decade. I have seen it three times already and I love it more with each viewing. This movie has a strange and creative way of telling a simple love story. It's funny, abstract, and charming all at the same time. The movie has a lot of depth going on in the story with the great use of symbolism. This movie is a must see for sure. Robot Carnival (1987) - I haven't seen this movie since I was a little kid on TV back in the 90s and it still holds up. The movie is the anime equivalent of Fantasia with each movie having its own segments of stories. This movie has beautiful animation and has a unique way of telling a story with symbolism and language. Most of this movie is silent with no dialogue which makes this movie very cool and original for its time. My only issue with the movie is some segments could have been better like Presence and Cloud. Presence goes on for way too long and Cloud feels kinda pointless. I still highly recommended this movie if you haven't seen it yet. |

Anyone watching One Punch Man season 2?
|
I have seen the first two episodes of One Punch Man season 2 and it's not that bad. The animation is a bit iffy at times, but I still think the show is still good. People are too nit picky on the animation and forgetting what made One Punch Man good in the first place. I like One Punch Man for the humor, characters and the satire (Not to mention, the series started off as a web comic with bad art in the first place).

Rewatching the original Fruits Basket (New version can suck it until it gets to new material) and enjoying Kimetsu No Yaiba. Kimetsu No Yaiba is legit the best show airing right now. GO WATCH IT! ALL OF YOU!!
|
Just caught up on the newest Vento Aureo episode and let me tell you, next week will have pure unfiltered Muda everywhere you go. If you follow my twitter I'll get as much of it on your timeline so be warned lol

I watch A Silent Voice on Netflix on Thursday and I really enjoy it. I never read the manga that it was based on, so I will be judging the movie as its own thing. This movie made me feel sadness, anger, happiness and laughs because I really like the main cast of characters. The movie did a great job on able to sympathize and relate to Shōko (I'm not deaf, but I know what it is like to be bullied). It did take me a while to like Shoya, but they did a great job on developing him over time. The biggest flaw for the movie for me is that they could have handed the side characters better and I'm not super crazy about the art style.
The animation is very pretty look at and the voice acting is top notch as well. Overall, this was a fantastic movie and it is worth checking out even if you are not a fan of anime. I highly recommended this movie. Rating: 8.5/10 |
One Punch Man Season 2
It started off boring as Hell, but now things are finally getting interesting- but the reason I personally found the beginning boring is: 1) You barely get to see Saitama at all. 2) When you do see Saitama, he's not fighting- he's just goofing around or talking to other heroes. People watch One Punch Man to see Saitama kick ass- that's the point of the show- so when the season first began and nothing was happening, I was like: WTF is this? It took a little while, but Season 2 has built up some momentum, there have been some interesting fights, and it's definitely building up to a wonderful action-packed finale- but there's still some time before it reaches that point. One character that certainly stands out is Garou AKA the Super Hero Hunter. He's been on a killing streak and hunting all the Class S heroes throughout the season. He's extremely skilled, has an interesting personality, an interesting personal history, and even though he's a bad guy: I love him. I love him, I respect him, and watching him in action is extremely entertaining. Things are certainly heating up and gaining speed for One Punch Man Season 2- and I don't think it'll be long until Saitama decides to steal the spotlight and show us all some new tricks he's developed. ^_^ You should definitely check it out. ^_^ |

Sword Art Online: Alicization.
A bit late to the series, but I finally got time to watch it. The writing's improved a bit, but it's still the usual SAO affair, with the sexual assault and overpowered protagonist and stuff. Nice to see there's a chemistry between Kirito and Eugeo though. And none of that whole "pain absorber" thing. |
