I think Gardevoir is the better choice. Fairy is a great typing.

Depends on what you want to use and how you want your team to operate.

Mostly defensive with Gardevoir as an attacker.

If it's a defensive team you're looking to build, then you might want to invest in Pokemon who can use the following attacks:
Stealth Rock
Sticky Web
Will O Wisp

If the central Pokemon is going to be Gardevoir, then you have to make sure your team properly supports it. Sticky Web helps cover Gardevoir's mediocre speed, and burn cuts physical attack, covering Gardevoir's worst defensive stat, and Stealth Rock deals a big chunk to the Pokemon immune to both Sticky Web and Will O Wisp (Fire/Flyings, like Talonflame).

Note that you don't need to run those specific attacks, and you can choose to run specific counters instead (Notably because Sticky Web has a very few amount of Pokemon who can learn it), but you're going to most definitely need a hard counter to the currently everpresent Talonflame, such as a bulky Water or Rock.

I was in a small tourny a few days ago and me and my team made it to the semi-finals where it came down to the paralysis on my Talonflame and a Togekiss and lost but it sure was fun.

My Team:
-Garchomp (mega)
-Tyranitar
-Metagross
-Greninja
-Talonflame
-Rotom-W

Sounds fun, but I'm trying to intentionally avoid teams as OU as that so I don't rage at Gen 6 like I did towards Gen 3 :lol

Anyway, Togekiss has always been on the possible roster, but it just keeps getting cut last second for possible choices.
