I think something about Power Rangers has to do with Super Sentai reaching overseas. No idea what's up about Kamen Rider and other Toku shows though.

Oh yeah, Kamen Rider the First and V3 (I think) do have offical subbed releases in the US and they did sell well, so Toei may be thinking on outdatted info that no Americans care unless it's been changed into a Power Rangers style product.

I would buy official well-subbed series for sure. I was so glad when Toei released the Super Sentai theme songs on iTunes during Gokaiger's run. Bought a lot of them. Too bad they didn't continue with Go-busters, at least last I checked.

The only time they had beef with fansubs was when they pulled subs for V3 and The Next because Toei released official subs.

Actually, there's a bunch of releases of some people doing covers of Rider, Sentai, and Toku in general themes, including Go-Busters. There's also full song collections for Goranger and Denziman-Goggle V.

It's less that and more a lack of audience that's keeping tokusatsu from being officially subbed. As much as we like it, tokusatsu is not a popular genre in America. Most Americans see it and automatically assume it's Power Rangers and then write it off. There's really no strong market for official subtitles.

Would free streaming be a good solution then? They did release Akibaranger for free recently, even though it was only for some Asian countries. Perhaps they could officially release subs for free online, which would cost little. I think a lot of subbers would be willing to do it for free or for a small amount as long as they're endorsed.

Yes, streaming is a great solution. Treat them like animes and simulcast them. I would recommend a place like Crunchyroll that already carries live action subbed shows.
