I've actually gotten it to fit a little better since this afternoon. Folding the wrist strap where the little notches are to hold it in place on the brace and putting some weight on it a little while. Essentially making mild creases. It gives a slightly better fit since while new, the strap conforms to more of an oval shape. But even then, it only adds a centimeter of leeway at best. Might be less.
