I got the same trilogy set you did and because of how bad the subbing was in the thrid movie, I actually switched to Dubbed. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

I really liked Attack of Legion though. Something about the scale of the threat of Legion seemed so damn immense. And the Human intervention wasn't so corny that you'd hate yourself for watching it.

G3's "Dark Gamera" was probably my most favorite Gamera visually. I'm hoping Kaiyodo makes a cool Revoltech with a swappable severed arm attachment.

this trilogy was awesome, I have them on dvd that adv put out, just started watching them again and still enjoying them :D

I'm just not getting the whole blowing one's self up in the middle of a battle deal. I can see why the Gamera in the beginning did so, he was outnubered, but for the new one? Things weren't NEARLY that bad in his battle yet he almost blew himself up anyway.

What you want to see is the fan film Gamera 4: Truth. Screened only in Japan, with special permission from Kadokawa/Daiei. In keeping with the agreement with Kadokawa, it was never released for download. The movie is supposed to be excellent for a fan film. It's utterly impossible for English speaking fans to obtain - or was last time I tried - but perhaps on some anniversary Kadokawa/Daiei will release it as a DVD extra, and then whoever owns the US distribution rights will follow suit.
I believe the fan creator of the film went on to work on work on Reigo: Deep Sea Monster vs Battleship Yamato, which didn't get great reviews even among the kaiju fans who saw it, but certainly had a lot of potential. There was a sequel of sorts being made, Raiga.

The only thing that made Raiga a sequel to Reigo was that the movie literally stops everything to show some scenes from Reigo! Oh, and both movies have giant monsters. That's about it.

Pretty terrible movie all around too... I wish I'd been able to see Reigo.

Well now that certainly sounds interesting.
