Already downloading it =), finnaly a ultran show my best friends can't spoil for me
|
This will replace Akibaranger nicely for me :D
Busy Ultra night tonight for me then, gotta catch up on Nexus before tomorrow and give this show a whirl. |
Is this okay to jump into if you've not see anything Ultra related beside the let's watch Nexus episodes?

Also, WOO HOO on Over Time stepping up for the Fansub! Can't download it till I get home, but WOO HOO! |
I'm not really sure what to think. I liked it, for the most part, but at the same time this felt really low budget. I guess the action figures are meant to be like Ranger Keys or Rider Cards, but having the main character carry around an action figure and talk to it just looks, I don't know, cheap and even more commercial than the Sentai/Rider equivalents.
That said, I am interested in the story and the actual fight between Ginga and... that thing I don't remember the name of was pretty boss. I think I'll stick with it, especially since there's nothing else new to watch but Garo and Wizard right now. |
The monster Ginga fought in this episode was Thunder Daranbia. The other daikaiju who made an apperance was, of course, Black King.
I think that the sofubi aspect is purposefully a little ridiculous. But soft vinyl toys have been a part of Japanese culture for a long, long time, and part of the Ultra Series since the very start, so I like seeing them being used as the collectible element of the show. (Plus, to me, a little vinyl toy is much nicer than a key or ring which just sort of sits on the shelf. You can play with these! "RAR!" "Schuuuwatch!" And so forth...) |
Not sure how i fell about this this, the fight was short but nice.but all the actting felt really forced. but i give it few more episodes to if i change on it.

Over-Time just became even cooler in my book.
|
I was kinda mehed by it. Whether deliberate or not, having ACTUAL toys in the show is really shit, even the Ginga Spark thing looked like the retail version rather than a proper show prop.
There were some funny moments now and then but not enough to really make me enjoy the episode and the fight was fun at the end but once again I don't see the point of watching a series for the two or three minutes of fighting right at the end. UNBALEEBABULL! |
Well I completely loved that episode to death.
Yes the whole spark dolls thing is very silly (especially since they move around and talk too), but this episode was TONS of fun. I'm currently getting my dose of "serious" Ultraman from Nexus so it was great to see that this was a lot more light hearted. DEFINITELY looking forward to more. |
