I opened this thread hoping it would be a joke.
I'm sad now :lol |

I still think that by squeezing Batman into the sequel, WB looks to be casting doubt on the viability of the Supes franchise. I know they're likely trying to get some of that sweet Avengers team-up money, but this says to me they have no confidence in Superman bringing people into the theater next time. Also, I shudder to think what this will do to the film's budget. WB, it seems to me, tends to just throw a lot of money at things and hope it works.
I'm willing to give the guy a chance. He's matured as an actor since Daredevil and now that the 'Silly Voices Bat Trilogy' has concluded, I'm all for seeing something new. OK, let's just be honest here, I'm all for any movie that puts Amy Adams on the screen. :D On a related note, I wonder if all of that stuff that seemed like Braniac set-up will just be cast aside now. |
Not sure if its because Im not much of a DC or that Ive never noticed Affleck in a movie, but Im probably the only person who doesnt care about this one.

This was a highly dubious casting choice. I love that I am consistently getting the same response from people, whether they follow genre films or not. Surprise with a healthy dose of disappointment mixed in.
The proof will be in the execution, but unfortunately I don't hold much hope. |
Affleck being Batman is disappointing. Without a doubt he's nowhere near the best choice for the character. But what I'm more disappointed with is that DC is going ahead with building a shared universe out of the train wreck that is Man of Steel. I can deal with Affleck playing Batman, I don't like it but I can deal. But it still bothers me that for a generation Cavil and his Superman film will be THE Superman franchise :(

Well Man of Steel was pretty good. Flawed, but good. It at least finally gave us action in a Superman movie.

I will see how he does as Batman. He could be horrible, but he could be pretty good.
