Well I'm in the spanish speaking part of South, Brazil may go closer to Sentai.

It's just that my father grew up watching Ultraman, as did my Cousins, it's not super popular but it's easily recognizable, at least where I live.

From what I've read, Brazil actually goes to Metal Heroes, particularly Juspion.

That's interesting, the only toku outside of Godzilla and Ultraman that I've seen here was Ryukendo, and I think Kuuga was shown, I know it was dubbed.

I would say Ultraman is probably more iconic, because the character of Ultraman remains consistent. Zyuranger and Power Rangers might be more iconic, but that's only one series of the entire show. Tons of people didn't even know that there was a Japanese version, or that it had been going on for years before MMPR ever came out. When I tell friends about Super Sentai, they say "that looks just like Power Rangers" and when I explain how Power Rangers is an adaptation, they respond with "so PR is a rip-off?" Because of this, i'm going to give it to Ultraman.

I'd say Ultraman is probably catered a bit towards adults, since i've seen some pretty violent clips from it, but they're both kid's shows. That doesn't mean they're only for kids though. I was at my friend's house the other day and started talking to him mom about Ultraman.

Now the winner of this fight would be Ultraman, I mean, they are a species,,while Sentai is all about giant robots and toys.

We were all watching the old Batman tv show and started geeking out. I brought up Ultraman and she was like I REMEMBER THAT SHOW!

Ultraman would win in a fight. And then he'd make the robo components join whatever the defense force is. :D
