Goseiger's always an option. Fun, upbeat, full of hope. Angelic MtG cards, regal suits, classic giant robot designs, Land/Sea/Sky dynamic (literally, they have an attack called "Gosei Dynamic"), and above all it will make you hate Megaforce even more.

Though it is quite divisive, especially when Eri bakes a cake. Some attribute it to being between Shinkenger and Gokaiger. Others that it's just a dull series, still more say things that aren't too charitable to series at all.
Either way, go with Goseiger if you want lighter fare to boost your mood if you aren't after J-Drama and the like.

what old sentai have you tried watching?

and how old have you gone? some of the best sentai are the older seasons like Bioman and Jetman. there's also Dairanger and Kakuranger, GoGoV, and even Carranger.

You want to find the best Sentai? Then be open to any suggestion. I know you have you preferred standards, but if you keep yourself in a tight box you may miss out on a great series.

I would also drop a recommendation for Gekiranger and Akibaranger (both seasons; 26 episodes or complete awesomeness). But Akiba makes a lot of references to older series.

And if I can shamelessly plug an older season; I think you should give Liveman a shot. It isn't goofy, there are idols in it (Toei sprung to get two idols to be rangers for the season as a treat to the fans), the story is great, and the ending is exciting, sad, and satisfying. I understand you don't want to watch anything older than Aba, but Liveman is definitely worth the watch.

but you need to have watched or at leased have knowledge of the old sentai's to have a blast with this one
