That doesn't really make a lot of sense. That would be like giving Edison elephant powers instead of electric ones because of that one time he killed an elephant to diss Tesla. If they wanted a pilot Eyecon they could have gone with Charles Lindbergh or Amelia Earheart or that guy from the recent Miyazaki movie. There are far more relevant choices than freaking Houdini.

Okay, that is a good point. If that's what they were going for, though, they didn't spell it out very clearly.

I just caught up with the last 3 episodes of Ghost and I loved all of them. Goemon, Ryouma, and Houdini were all awesome forms, and I loved the development from Takeru and Makoto. I am also partially delirious from being up way too long so I'm just going to keep it short. Woo! I can't wait for more Ghost.

Going to agree with swithblade that you make a good point Vin13ish, but I'm also going to have to agree that they didn't really make that obvious, and I also have to raise the question, of how the instance where Makato got the powers was different from any other time he had the crap beaten out of him? because in the first fight with Javel he kept going despite getting his butt kicked. was it because he stayed henshined? because Houdini but the chains on him?

Personally, I think it's because Makoto actually asked in the end, rather than keep trying to demand the power.

It makes certain amount of sense motif-wise too since all the Eyecons Makoto has are rulers, I.E. people with power who control and amass more power. Contrast with the Eyecons that Takeru has, whom are mostly not of nobility and are all instead revolutionaries of their field and achievers of impressive and/or important feats
