Just...A gun makes sense getting all FUTURE-ized, since there's potential there.
A sword is a short stick attached to a sharp piece of straight metal. I don't know what they're going for with this change.

Which, in turn, is an homage to the first Red Ranger ever's (AkaRanger) main weapon, a whip. ^_^

I dig it, definitely has a sorta halo vibe. I wonder if we'll be seeing the other rangers weapons soon.
