Man people took that comparrison to Captain America way, way too fucking literally.

All I'm gleaning from this is that BOA wanted PR suits that weren't just super plain, undetailed spandex like what Sentai has been doing for the last few years. They wanted something more conducive to what they've been doing with the super modes for Samurai and Dino Charge. More armoured, less simplistic.

Interesting... I'm not counting on it, but it would be great if they also had a hand in developing the toys with BoJ, and that in-turn would mean we would se a return of BoA using the same sculpts, rather than creating their own versions. I don't hate what they've been doing with them, but I like what I'm seeing for the Kyuranger toys, and would like to see BoA use the same sculpts... A fan can dream... right?

That said, their influence on the suit and zord designs seems to have done some good. Especially since I'm actually considering trying to watch this sentai series as it airs, rather than just waiting for the inevitable PR version.

I guess it is time for some readjustments to the default elements on the wardrobe dept.
As long as it does not stray too far from familiar elements of things I would not mind a few new things done.

I really hope this helps revitalize this franchise as the show hasn't been truly fantastic in a decade.

If BOA work on this show, it won't surprise me if Kyuranger ends up being adapted for PR in 2019.

But I do hope they don't skip Zyuohger.

Just listened to the full No Pink Spandex podcast interview, and I think a lot of our reactions are overblown. It sounds like BoA was brought in at the start of the brainstorming process, BoJ and Toei went off and designed everything, and then BoA was presented the finished product for minor tweaks.

My interpretation is that BoA was involved with a lot of the conceptual stuff, but the nuts and bolts of the design work was handled by BoJ and Toei, as usual.

In all likelihood, the Kyurangers look good in spite of BoA's involvement, not because of it. BoA's uninterrupted record of heinously designed American-exclusive rangers and ugly-as-sin Battlizer/Super Modes proves that they're unequivocally awful at designing Sentai suits. Plus, we already know that the Kyuranger suits were designed by Nobunagun's Masato Hisa, so any input from BoA on the suits themselves was likely limited to Mitchell's comments about modernization and keeping up with Marvel. I think it's possible that the use of non-traditional textiles for Blue, Black, and Gold is a product of BoA's notes.

My guess is that BoA's contributions were more meaningful when it comes to the mecha designs -- which shows, as they look markedly different from any Sentai mechs I've seen before. I welcome BoA's contributions to mech design because their record with American-exclusive zords is infinitely better.
