Even out of the other bad seasons you can say something good about it like Operation Overdrive was an adventure season. What can you say is good about Megashit?

Doesn't excuse it. Standards change over time and as we grow up, our tastes do too. The original season being cheesy was ok because 1: We were all either kids or not yet born, 2: There wasn't anything else to really compare it to in terms of superheroes in spandex and 3: The 90's was TOTALLY RADICAL and 90's culture is seen as cringey these days

Power Rangers can strive to be more 20 years later. That applies to it both being an MMPR rehash and not having an extensive plot (also, Ultraman is hardly an epitome of extensive plot either a lot of the time).

MMPR is fun, a lot of fun at that. But it's dated and treated with nostalgia goggles by a lot of people, myself included. Franchises grow and succeed by evolving, not regressing.

Gokaiger homaged 35 years of Super Sentai but still managed to feel fresh. There's no reason why Power Rangers couldn't do the same.

Operation Overdrive's greatest achievement was making a terrible Sentai series even worse. That show is just as bad as far as I'm concerned.

I also think you're forgetting to see that there are other criticisms than the wacky and cheesy tone of the show, because that's a big criticism but not the biggest criticism I've seen
