Fun fact: Sentai is aimed at preschoolers, not middle school kids.
One of my favorite anecdotes from a friend of mine who worked as a teacher in Japan was that by the time a kid was in the 4th grade, they were too old for "kiddy stuff" like Sentai and Kamen Rider and were watching shows like One Piece and Pokemon. So like what you like, especially as an adult, life's too short to let people make you feel like crap for something you take genuine enjoyment in. If your friends are in nerd fandom, don't let them give you shit, you're all nerds. Hell, even if they're not, real friends probably wouldn't give you shit for what you like. |
Frankly yes 😂 I know there is no need to be embarrassed but still.. 😂

Nope.

If being an adult means losing that sense of justice, duty, responsibility and sacrifice. Then I don't ever want to be an adult.
|
I don't see a reason why I should, because most people may give you a weird look after initially tell them but then they'll just go back to immediately not giving a crap.

Yes, but I grew up with when I was young and I watch quite a bit of tv, but found of shows to watch and I didn't find anything on netflix or amazon prime worth watching then I found Amazons and got hooked on toku especially Kamen Rider again which one of my favorites growing up. Everyone in Hawaii watched toku in the 70s and 80s so that's my excuse.
When you're old like me you want to relive a little bit of your youth every so often and some of the stories are just dark enough for an adult. Sometimes I'm surprised that this is a kids show at times. Would I like it to be serious more often? Sometimes I do think that would be better as I like Amazons, but a little fun in between like Build is great. This is no different from adults liking anime or rick and morty or some other cartoon. Just as long as you're a well adjusted adult, I see no problem with it. It is after all a super hero show and no one says anything about any Marvel or DC movies being bad to watch as an adult. |
^I think stuff like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Star Trek are so mainstream where no one looks at them as "Only for kids" and geeky anymore. Geek/Nerd culture is mostly stuff that people like that are niche and unusual that most people are not into.
I can see why people would be shy to talk about talking about Toku superhero shows to other people because they are not very well know and people will look at them as childish because they have lower budgets compare to superhero shows on the CW & Netflix and these shows are made to promote toys. While the MCU movies are also made to sell merchandise to kids too, they are nowhere as toy driven as the current Rider and Sentai shows. So people will take a movie like The Avengers more seriously than something like Drive. |
I used to in high school and early on in college, but I came to the realization that most people didn't really care and the few people who did weren't worth listening to.

Nope.
Hell, I didn't even really get into toku (outside of Godzilla) until a few years ago when I was already 19 years old and you know, I still watch cartoons, collect action figures (both bog-standard stuff you can get at US retail and imported collector stuff from Japan), so why would I be embarrassed by being into one more thing aimed at kids? |
No, because I’m an adult and I can enjoy whatever I like.
