Focusing on having lights and sounds for the Sougan Blade instead of a transformation was a smart idea; the original Bandai toy version... wasn't that great.

No, you shouldn't look at those, because as we're all aware the design fidelity of Transformers rarely translates into other toylines by Hasbro even where transforming robots are concerned. Crossovers, for example.

I have to agree with the others I doubt we will see anything similar to the Transformers with regards to Zords. From my understanding a fair amount of Transformers design work is handled by Takara, so expecting that level here is going lead to disappointment.
