I thought Toei also owns the rights to the GoLion/Voltron IP as well? Oddly enough, Power Rangers follow a similar format that both Voltron and Robotech did when it came to adapting shows in America. It would be cool if PR crossovers with one of those franchises.

Man, i knew about amalgam but thought it was only for hybrid heroes created from both brands, didn't know they also did crossovers. Were the crossovers frequent and released in sizeable amounts? Or were they infrequent and hard to find?

Transformers/MLP brought a huge smile to my face, and the ending leaving wiggle room for a sequel makes me excited.
While I doubt we'll get that sequel, the possibility for it give me hope. |

Amalgam is, in and of itself, the "crossover" using hybrid heroes from Marvel and DC. What Universe it operates in given the multiversal inconsistencies between the two is anyone's guess! Yes, Marvel and DC have also done crossovers (both using their standard-at-the-time-they-were printed hero sets) at varying intervals, but not recently. The dynamics of both of them and their parent companies and the comic/superhero market in general are different than they once were. I don't think the Amalgam Heroes have done crossovers with their original imprint counterparts or anyone for that matter. It's just worth noting cause it did happen once. There are also those who believe that the financial difficulties of COVID have strained the Comic Book World to the point that a NEW crossover between Marvel and DC would be a beneficial thing. No guarantee of that actually happening though, but the strange effects of a strange year might best be solved by something big and strange! I also like the idea of using this thread to make note of comic crossovers in general, not just Marvel, DC, and Amalgam. |
Marvel and DC used to do crossovers infrequently. Not only Amalgam, but the reader voted DC vs Marvel comic that led into it as well. They also did an annual crossover in the 90's which was fun, too.
While DC has been under WB's thumb for ages, Marvel becoming Disney's property has made crossovers somewhat more difficult to accomplish between the two. |

The entire Wolverine vs Lobo fight happens behind a bar, and Wolverine stands up at the end as the victor. |

Speaking of the Marvel and DC stuff, I get why certain characters are paired up: Captain America and Batman, Hulk and Superman, etc. But like... why was Spider-Man paired up with Superboy? I know literally nothing about the latter, so anyone wanna shed light on that? |
