Well, Hanto may be the weakest of the trio of riders, but he is also very stubborn. And in this episode, this quality turned against his friends. Luckily, Lakia's toxin was able to temporarily neutralize Suga's influence. Unfortunately, only temporarily. The argument between an angel and a demon seems like an unsuitable concept to me, when the evil side is obviously foreign.
But at the same time, I appreciate the departure from the argument with the evil spirit, more typical for the franchise. And it's also great that Gochizo was able to help. As a test, Nyelv decided to arrange a mass suicide. I think that Lango and Bocca would not appreciate such a waste of potential material for Dark Treats, but they would not scold him too much. Fortunately, the reunited riders manage to prevent this. Masaru is among the victims of hypnosis. He also sees Kamen Riders along with the others and mistakes them for monsters. Yes, this is that tiny part of the show where the sweets theme doesn't work very well. However, Sachika proves her usefulness by explaining that they are friends and protect them from real monsters. And later Masaru himself comes to the conclusion that his sister could have been kidnapped by Granutes. Impressed by the events of that day, Hanto decides to reveal the truth about his uncle to Shouma. So at least the second part of my pessimistic forecast will definitely not come true. Lango only has a small cameo here, without any influence on the plot, so it would be possible not to include him in the preview. But in the next episode, Bocca himself will appear in the human world and, it seems, even wave his fists. Intriguing. Overall, it wasn't the brightest, but it was a pleasant episode that developed and advanced the plot. Perhaps I'll also make pre-final conclusions about the whole show. After the first quarter, I was ready to put Gavv in third place in my personal rating, displacing Kuuga. Now I understand that the simplicity of the first rider Heisei still touches my heart more, but I still have no serious complaints about Gavv. It's a great show, always ready to feed both the mind and the heart. Yes, I catch myself thinking that I'm more interested in what will happen in the next episode of Gozyuger, but this is more related to the different stages of these shows than to their quality. So, even though I have a few complaints about Gavv, the overall impressions are still very positive. I hope the ending will not disappoint. |

I'mma have to put Zolda on the ignore list so I don't have to scroll through a bibles worth of bitching about a show he clearly doesn't want to watch. Good fucking lord.
Anyway, episode was a'ight. I genuinely feel we didn't need to bring back Suga or have another Bitter Gavv form for this, since it's relevance to the plot only really mattered for Hanto to break free of his hypnosis, but that could've been resolved without Suga anyway. His stubbornness would've sufficed. I'm glad this show continues the train of communication by not having Hanto withhold the info about Shouma's uncle, despite Shouma requesting Hanto to not dig into it. Nyelv's monster form looks pretty cool, a shame he apparently doesn't like fighting, though. And a quick cameo by Lango. What's up, man. With Bocca making his big debut to the main cast next episode, it seems we're properly in the end game, now, so I'm curious to where things will go. |
I liked this episode. And despite him not being as interesting as the other two, I am a fan of Hanto. So for our little Karakida-san to break free of hypnosis through sheer stubbornness gives me warm and fuzzy feelings.

I might just be looking at it from the wrong angles, but I came out of this one wishing the central conflict had more of a bite to it than I ended up feeling? The episode is very entertaining, as always, and there are developments that promise some big swings happening soon, but right now, this week, I've got a story about Hanto and Nyelv that seems to only reinforce what I've already known about their characters, rather than adding anything new or, better still, taking those familiar aspects and putting them in a new light. Zombie Suga's whole presence especially had me assuming that this latest Bitter Gavv would be used as a way to make some unified point or another about one or both of those characters, who had their respective connections to Suga, making things a lot more personal than if it were merely some random new Granute in that role. But again, unless all the nuances flew completely over my head (which is far from impossible!), it really does seem to be as simple as "Nyelv is deeply amoral" and "Hanto is a true bro", and neither of those things are news by now. Like, did *anyone* who's been watching Gavv from the start believe for even a second that Hanto was still brainwashed when he showed up for the climax? But, you know, I write all that, and I make the episode sound like some joyless experience, when the simple truth is that -- even though it's always nice for every last episode in that 40's home stretch of a Rider show to hit you with the force of a punch from Over Mode -- there's still a lot of fun to be had, even without any particular twist or turn that might take it further than that. The sheer whimsy of Hanto's internal struggle being represented as some shoulder angel argument he has with himself, for example, does wonders to help me get over any perceived lack of meaty drama going on underneath the surface. Much the same is true for that plot thread in general, really. It being obvious that Valen is there at the end to help Gavv and Vram can't actually do that much to make it less awesome how much gusto the guy has doing that crazy spinning headbutt(?!) into Nyelv, or when reacting to Gavv and Vram's reactions to him being fine. It all still satisfies, at the end of the day. I don't know -- maybe I'm actually just grumpy because neither half of this two-parter had any of the Riders using anything other than their strongest forms? But even then, that's like the only thing in the action here I can even grumble about. There's some great choreography in Valen's fight with his friends, there's a ton of character in his later fight with Nyelv, and Gavv even shows Nyelv the way the cookie crumbles with some classic practical food effects as he takes down Suga, which always makes me super happy to see in an episode. Hard to go too wrong with a show that thinks to use some pieces of cork flying through the air in such an on-brand and cool manner. |

What rule? What double posts? These are 3 different posts, not double/triple posts. If each user is not allowed to post more than once a day, then this forum would be a graveyard, especially during the early promotion period of a newer series. Quote:

It seems like several people in this forum really really reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally enjoy their Gavv-flavored Kool-Aid. I'm fine with that, because they're only proving that KR (God forbid) Gavv is indeed pathetically, laughably, indefensibly lazy, cheap, sloppy, heavy-handed, and atrocious. They're actually helping me, so I should thank them for that!:lol:lol:lol |

Zolda, your last sentence (I'm not quoting that wall of text) absolutely comes across as someone who thoroughly and honestly irrationally hates this show. And I'm not the only one who feels this way. It's okay to be critical, but your criticisms frequently boil down to nitpicks. As if you are going out of your way to look for things to hate.
