Exciting first episode. I have a feeling that the belt could grow wearisome overtime, but for now it's amusing.

Monster designs remind me of the Dopants from W. The Horoscopes from Fourze were pretty distinctive (didn't watch any of OOO). These are a closer match to the suit designs from W, not a bad thing.

Wizard's fighting style in Fire mode is very showy, reminds me of Jet Li-esque Wushu with the wide circles that his limbs go in (and the wire work).

And, since we know it'll eventually happen . . . Bandai Tamashii web exclusive S.H. Figuarts Wizardragon anyone? I just hope the bike transforms and combines with it.

Great first episode, on first impression it seems they took a lot of things that made Magiranger great. The stauch determination in the face of overwhelming dread, but with "courage" replaced with "hope". I simply love shows that have inspiring hope against despair as a central theme, and this is my most anticipated aspect of this show. I foresee potentially Lovecraftian villains in the series.

It also helps that the characters are interesting with some wicked fight scenes. Wizard's design is even more exquisite in motion, and I'll rush to grab a Figuart of that. The dragon and PlaMonsters play right into my obsession with fantasy and mythological creatures and robots and it might be the first time I'll consider collecting the "little critters" of a Kamen Rider show. In short, based on aesthetics alone, this show is a winner in my eyes.

Now if only they'll get the Driver/Sword voice to shut-up. :lol I have a feeling I'll warm up to it soon enough.

What are you watching it with? It sounds like your player is having trouble coping with the 10bit encodes.

Anyway, I rewatched it with the subs, too, and I'm liking what we've got here. Something I noticed the second time around, though, is that the bridge that Haruto flies around? The same bridge that served as the location for the big final battle in Daimajin Kanon.

I thought he was a Phantom going into the episode, but after watching it made me think that he is just a Gate still active and stopped himself from becoming a Phantom by not loosing despair. Either way hopefully we'll get answers in the next couple of episodes.

Really? I thought the Phantom thing was just setting up his super-powered evil side early on...

I predict we'll see some ax-crazy super-powered evilness from him later on, only to be reminded by his new-found friends that he brought hope to all of them. That might snap him out of it.

Did anyone else get the super early hint of the secondary rider? The opening narration says "Long Ago, Magic and Science worked in harmony". I think that's extremely telling and lends credit to the rumors circulating about that the secondary rider being science based. So I'd say we'll get an all tech rider who doesn't use rings. Probably something more like a bunch of technological devices. Maybe the secondary rider will wind up being the one with the ipad belt :lol

Seeing as it's a new series, I thought I'd finally give Over-Time a try for subs instead of waiting for what feels like an eternity for TVN to finish them.

But of course I go to try and download it and after almost a half hour now I still have no seeds. *siiiiiigh*

The hype of the show's starting to get to me too. It's like, I need to watch it. Didn't quite feel that way with Fourze for sure.

EDIT: ...Then I restarted the download and of course we're zipping right along now. Haha.

I think that'll be neat, if the secondary rider ends up being a previous year's rider returning.

Also, looks like I was right about the whole "Engagement" Thing with the ring in that one scene...well partially right anyway.

I still want to know what the name of the White Magician Rider form is. WizarFather? :lol

I'm watching it on a flashdrive plugged into my tv. It is the first device I have that will actually play MKV files that isn't a computer, which is about time.

I'm really confused though, because I watched an episode of CarRanger from Haro and the video was perfectly fine, but I had those issues with Wizard.

If there's a science-based Rider, I will lose it completely. Please, give me weak and strong nuclear, electromagnetic and gravity forms. That would literally remove any complaint about magic that I have with this show.

So I've watched the episode twice, once raw and again with subs and DONUTS! For a first episode, this was great.

I'm really like our hero...who's name I haven't learned yet. Layed back, but serious. I look foward to seeing more of Daimon Rinko (I blame ReBoot for remembering that name so quickly). I like a Rider show that remembers the police exists.

The powers are everything I wanted and more. Wizard's elemental powers act like elemental powers. Elemental themes don't always work well (Agito's forms come to mind). Something I haven't seen talked about yet is that the rider kick is rather awesome. One of the best I've seen in ages.

Oh! I just had an awesome thought! If we go with the idea of a tech best Rider for the secondary Rider and we take note of the police's presents...Kamen Rider G7-X. I know that won't happen, but I can dream.

PS I hate the belt singing to, but I don't like a lot of rider belts anyways. Just a minor annoyance.

The rider kick was insanely awesome and far better than any of them since Kiva in my opinion. And I kind of get the idea that maybe Rinko is secondary rider potential? I know there's been a lot of talk of a possible female secondary rider. Perhaps they're setting her up early?

It's odd to see a main cast member who happens to be female also be a person who can get in on the action, like a police officer. I can't think of any good strong female characters like that in a long time. They usually get relegated to sort of girlfriend status and don't do much. As a police officer it sets Rinko up early to already be an awesome strong support character. That, along with her drive and determination, make her a prime candidate for the other rider if indeed that rider is going to be female.

I think she'll just be a strong supporter like Ichijo in Kuuga.

If the secondary rider is science based,but uses elements like wizard.....I just pictured fourze cosmic states,but instead of switches on his touch chest it was the periodic table of elements.>_<

Also the main villains are named after mythological beasts from greek history/folklore.So,Cerberus,Hydra,Centaur,Harpy,Chimera,Pegasus,and Cyclops just to name a few....wait,Pegasus was good right? And he has a unicorn plamonster,we've seen he can change sizes,and his bike can turn into wings letting him ride things......MY GOD...XD

Speaking of Greek mythology, our police woman's surname is Daimon. I could try to explain it, but honestly wiki's first sentence does that better than I could so quote time.

That sounds like a really good role for a supporting character, doesn't it?

...Yeah, I'm probably overthinking that. Afterall, I don't know if daimon has any meaning in Japanese context. Could just be a fun coincidence.



PS Before anyone asks, "daimon" and "daemon" are the same thing, just different spellings.

This was a really packed episode. It reminds me of Blade in how you're just thrown into what feels more like a second or third episode than a first, which means I'm confused as hell, but on the upside, look at all that action! There's like, slow-motion bullets and dragons and swords and crap, it's exciting.

Also, tiny Haruto riding Unicorn made me laugh.

It's not a format issue, it's a quality one. O-T uses 10bit encodes for their HD releases. It's gloriously beautiful when it plays right, but not everything can handle it. My old PC couldn't at all and even on my new MacBook I need to use MPlayerX because my old stand-by, VLC, had the same color issues and a lot of problems with artifacts. If your tv can't handle the HD, try again with the SD version.

Well I noticed that things were based off mythology just from his model kit helper bots. Garuda (Hindu), Unicorn (Greek), and Kraken (Norse).

Meh, it isn't that big of a deal for me. It isn't too bad, just something I noticed while CarRanger did not do it. I'll see if an unconverted Gobuster and AkibaRanger episode does the same.

This is the first time I've actually caught a KR show reasonably close to its air date.

I really liked it. It all seemed a bit silly when they were promo'ing it, but then, really all of the KRs and Sentais seem to, and then you actually see them in context and it's OK after all.

Really liked the Rider Kick and the bike merging with the dragon. Also the "C'MON & SHOOT--SHAKE HANDS!" thing is the right mix of goofiness and coolness I've come to expect from toku in general.

I like it. I'll keep watching. :)

What do you guys think of Rinko or another member of the main cast eventually becoming a prominent villain somewhere down the line?

I greatly enjoyed the spawning of the little ring familiars, how they popped off their mold trees. I can see those toys selling well.

I'm not sure where I am on the belt singing. On the one hand, the elemental change (fire fire FIRE FIRE) was really cool, but some of the other constant talking seems like it'd get annoying quickly.

Overall it looked good. Nice rider kick, nice fighting style. I'll be sticking around for more.

She really is gorgeous. And I finally figured out where I've seen her from. She was in Chou Den-O Episode Blue. She was the girl who ignored her grandmother and then a future version of her came back in time to see her grandmother before she died. She had a fairly prominent role and I really liked her then so seeing her in this and still looking gorgeous is really awesome.

Just watched the sub, still a great episode and my one gripe is cleared up. Thanks to the subs i realised the jingles are similar to OOO's, as in they're word jingles and not riffs like in W or Fourze. Silly me eh? They could still do with being balanced better, but watching it with headphones definitely helped =]

So over on twitter RiderStrike mentioned that Wizard is Garo but for kids and I can't really disagree with him. Does anyone else see similarities between the two?

I have a feeling I'm going like this series.

There's plenty of similarities to many tokus and yeah, Garo is in there too. Gates that let Horrors/Phatoms into the world. That's about it. There's some Kuuga, some Agito, Den-O, Magiranger, Shinkenger, even a little OOOs. It's like someone pull all these parts into a cauldron and stired until we got Wizard. I'm sure Wizard will get pass these similarities soon enough.

Something tells me i'll be tired of the word please by the end of this show... :p

Also, Donuts! Really liking it so far. Can't wait for next week's
