The problem with Sentai is Toei is not taking any risks. ZyuRanger, DaiRanger, and KakuRanger were big risks for Toei because they were something completely different from past series. Toei has not really done anything as big of a risktaker like that in years. Look at Hurricanger. It rehashed the ninja theme, but played everything safe. AbaRanger, on the other hand, tried out some new ideas and concepts.

AbaRanger started the whole "super mode for the whole team" idea which spread in to DekaRanger, MagiRanger, Boukeranger or whatever, and GekiRanger. Other than that, it simply rehashed previous ideas (evil Ranger, dinosaur theme, a lot of interchangable zords ala GaoRanger).

DekaRanger was a TimeRanger ripoff.

MagiRanger was actually pretty original, and it showed in the ratings. Something I think Kamen Rider Wizard is playing off now, with the whole "greek/magic" theme.

Really? I would think that 2 dinosaur based series getting figures would clutter the line and Zyu would be put off of SHFs...

Okay, I haven't seen much of Timeranger (but from what I've heard Time Force was more or less the same) but this seems a little harsh. Timeranger is a "serious" scifi futuristic police show, while Deka is a mostly comedic futuristic police show which is mostly a send-up of cop/police shows. They had similar themes, but Deka was no more a rip off than Aba would be of Zyu.

Was Go-Busters not a pretty big risk-taker? And it's completely failed in ratings(As much as I love it.), so I can see why they would want to use a really popular theme for the next Sentai.

A subtitle like "electric beast" makes me think this will be more of a robotic dinosaur thing. Think Zoids if they combined.
EDIT: Just realized that this would mark the first time a dinosaur Sentai gets ultra-articulated Minipla treatment. Now I'm excited. ^^

I can't find any information claiming it was, so I'l have to say no. But even if it was, I'd still count it as the first full team upgrade(likewise, I count the Megatector as a full team upgrade).

Now, if only we can avoid the Oh for next year.

"Oh" has been used in almost every single modern series. I highly doubt it'll just disappear.

While I think anything's better than Go-Busters having to put up with dinosaurs again is something I'm not too thrilled for. C'mon Toei there's TONS of good ideas left to use! You know you want to do a cowboy series.

Only if Tomoko returns to the Toei universe was Yami Sentai Purple. Because Pink isn't dark enough.

I have a feeling we will be getting dinosaur + machine or cyber themed group, that is if the papers are legit. Would not be surprised if their mecha went from a fire engine to a T-Rex to further emphasize the "Alternating Current" concept and also have their rendition of Abare mode. Only question is if they too will follow the 21st century sentai cycle of being the next sentai to start with Red-Blue-Yellow again and then get additional members. So far Hurricanger and Abaranger did it, as well as Gekiranger and Go-onger (although it is true Go-onger was officially a 5-member team, they did start with Red, Blue, and Yellow).

I don't think they will do blue, red, and yellow. It would be too much like AbaRanger. Same goes if they just do a traditional color set of 5, too close to ZyuRanger. They are really going to have to do something to distinquish themselves better from both of those.

BTW, Liveman and Sun Vulcan also did it.

Eh, the -ger suffix is just what Sentai is doing in its naming scheme this days (Go-Busters excluded). I'm honestly just happy it isn't another Go-something-ger season.

It'll be a full set of five to start, probably green instead of black. The new show is going to want to be as different as possible from Go-Busters so it can recover those lost ratings. Expect lots of old-schooliness (by which I mean a show that's hella 00s).

My assumption would end up being this:

Red - always
Blue - always
Black - Green was in Gokaiger, which while fun, wasn't a super huge hit
Yellow - always
Pink - just seems to work better

Have a core of 5 and then add 2 to 3 extras.

Green (Zyuranger homage), White (AbaRanger homage), and then probably some armored "Extra Hero" like Ninjaman or Signalman.

Just my thoughts.

I'm really hoping this ends up being better than what I'm imagining. And what I'm imagining is pretty damn sweet. Giant Red Dragon Thunderzords that combine into one Godzilla looking peice of awesome.
