Here's the Adventure Evolution chart, completely from memory. Adventure: Agumon -> Greymon -> MetalGreymon -> WarGreymon OR Agumon -> Greymon -> SkullGreymon Gabumon -> Garurumon -> WereGarurumon -> MetalGarurumon Patamon -> Angemon -> Magnangemon -> Seraphimon Salamon -> Gatomon -> AngeWoman -> Magandramon Tentomon -> Kabuterimon -> MegaKabuterimon Palmon -> Togemon -> Lilymon Gomamon -> Ikakkumon -> Zudomon Biyomon -> Birdramon -> Garudamon Why did I type this out (Aside from having nothing better to do)? To show that the series proper almost always kept Evolution lines straight in their own show. Agumon in Savers/Data Squad had a completely different line, but even then it was kept straight in it's own series. Yes, there are about 50 different Digimon Agumon can become. That doesn't mean he does so. In essence, there is a Golden Rule to each series, and that's following the basis of the original games and digital pets. Digimon grow differently depending on their environment. In Pokemon, it doesn't matter if the Charmander was raised by a loving trainer or had to undergo a rough life living on it's own. It will always become a Charizard. In Digimon, different circumstances yield different results. Also, you act as though keeping track of all these is a difficult task that couldn't possibly be accomplished by someone who has stuff to do. In reality, this is done by just casually watching the show. I know the GeoGreymon line because I watched Savers. I know of all the different Garurumon stuff because they pop up all the time in other shows. Of all the Greymon I named, only 2 never appeared in the show (ChaosBlackWarGreymon and VictoryGreymon). Yes, you have a life to attend to. That's fine. But this is all stuff you would know if you just paid a bit of attention to a series. |
Digimon Fusion Trailer!
Guess what? Saban as announced a brand new Digimon! This season they can combine and fuse into stronger digimon than before!

I don't like how they changed Taiki to Mikey.
|
I'll never get over how hilarious Samuel Vincent is as Shoutmon. :lol
Also, that narrator sounds so bored it's not even funny. |
Imma be the only one excited for this, aren't I >>
|
This trailer popped up in the other Digimon thread, so I'm gonna merge them to keep discussion all in one place.

Doesn't Tai appear at the end of Xros Wars? I'd imagine that maybe a factor in, like Sentai said, not shortening it just down to Tai again.

And I've gone on record of hating Frontier. Anyway, I also don't like Xros Wars, so unless the dub does something amazing, I'm not sure I'll bother watching... |

Frontier and I got off to a rocky start, then around episode 35 or so I started to enjoy it. For what it is, it's not terrible. As for Data Squad... let's just say I know why it was called "Savers" in Japan. |
I did something similar, honestly (I actually remember having finished Adventure and seeing JO reveal she was gonna do a retrospective :lol)
But when I rewatched Tamers, I decided to stop there. I realized that no series was going to live up to it. |

That being said, I hope Fusion is just as good as Xros Wars. And if we get a proper toy line, I want a a green Xros Loader. Disappointed to see Japan only release the first season versions. |

I might visit Data Squad/Savers again one day (Oh, I just remembered, it was Sunflowmon who needed to get bailed out of by Greymon in her debut episode), but as it stands, I'm just waiting for that one series to figure out what Tamers did right so they have a chance at making another great series. |

Characters were given depth. They grew and changed. Their actions had greater consequences, both by virtue of being in the real world and that the Digimon they were facing were legitimately malevolent from the get go, not just good guys under mind control for the first half of the season. The fights had far more weight because there was no Primary Village bullshit crutch to lean back on (Basically, death wasn't cheapened. Leomon never came back). The actual story was a step up from the others, with the main characters not being shonen anime tropes but actual, sensible characters (Well, early Rika/Ruki wasn't, but when she mellowed out she became an actual character too). Substance over style. I've always preferred it this way. I just want another series to place the story over the toy shilling (Note: Tamers shilled toys too. It just didn't do it every episode) |

Aside from a few things (Like Orochimon getting drunk), the dub edits were kind of few and far between. Here's a pro-tip: Showing blood doesn't make the unedited version instantly better. It's a nondescript addition that does nothing for the overall story. Tamer's dub (Outside of Gallantmon sounding like a 12 year old) was excellent. |

I'm optimistic.
I also am hoping that Bandai will get so much $$$ from the high-quality nostalgia fuel of the Power Rangers 20th Anniversary merch that they'll experiment with nostalgia-tastic retro Digimon merch. (Gosei Grand Megazord Retrofire quality Angemon, Weregarurumon, Megakabuterimon, Stingmon and Silphymon figures please! Wargreymon at least has a Figuart...) |
Well, I don't think it's any kind of Digimon anniversary.
But any toy released during this line will probably be the Xros Wars redesigns, not the originals. |
