Anyway, I'm liking Saido. I really, really hope his series is a bit more on the serious side. I'm not expecting (Or asking for) Ryuki's hopeless feel, but every serious moment in Fourze is almost immediately countered by a scene change to a silly one (The exceptions being Gentaro's "Death" and Ryusei's redemption).

Agreed. I'd really like to see a new series take a more serious turn. And I really just want to see things get away from this goofy use of more and more items to henshin. W had 2 which was fine but it had it's drawbacks. OOO had 3 which I could understand but it was a gimmick that had consequences because of how long it took and the way in which it worked. Fourze requires inserting four items in the belt, then switching all 4 of them on individually, throwing a lever forward and then doing a 3 second countdown to henshin. The gimmicks that keep increasing in numbers need to end.

This is what I don't want to see. Saido will have to draw a Shuriken on his belt/ipad, which turns it into a 3D object, then he throws it forward, and runs at it to henshin. I just want a belt with a simple gimmick to henshin.

I'm fine with belt gimmicks.
I just hope it's not a collection gimmick. 8 Gaia Memories used for Double, 4 included with the belt. 21 Medals for OOO, 4 included with the belt. 40 Switches for Fourze, 5(?) included with the belt.
It's getting kind of ridiculous.

I saw something at HJU about how Ganbaride machines will be overhauled later this year to replace the switch gimmick with a new card reader. It might be that we're going back to cards for the next Rider.

There was also some random rumor that the next Rider will be wizard-themed. I'm taking that one with the whole damn salt shaker.

Jefusion doesn't really come up with its own stuff - it just reports what it finds on other sites. That design sketch was always just a fan interpretation of a rumored design. Really cool one, though.

Some new stuff over the last couple of days...

- Nothing trademarked yet. Speculation circling that Kamen Rider Fourze will get a second year simply because there's 3 months until the next Kamen Rider is supposed to premiere and we have zero information, where as this time last year, we already had images of Fourze...
- Speculation continues on a name ... looks to follow numerical system of sorts, with Decade = 1, W = 2, OOO = 3, Fourze = 4, popular thought is "V-zard" or something to that effect for the "5" numerical system will continue
- Placeholder has appeared for "Kamen Rider 2013" on some Japan toy sites with product slated to release September 2012 ... but no information past that
- Image has popped up showing three figures with three weapons, and the weapons have a combination feature (5 total weapons that can combine in to various forms for use)
- Speculation on the colors of the Kamen Riders due to another image that released

Should be interesting.

I love Fourze, but I really don't want it to get a second season.
And the sound of that weapon gives me thoughts of a more versatile DenGasher.

Fourze getting a second season would be kinda odd, given there isn't really much room to expand the Driver. (Unless they release a new one, of course).

Would be interesting though if they did a S2 of Fourze that focused more on the other Riders... wasn't that the original plan, if memory serves, to involve past Kamen Riders more? Heck - then they could use Season 2 as the big resolution to the Foundation X subplot that's been running since W.

If Fourze hits a second season it, in my mind, guarantees a Saban Brands adaption in the United States. The formula is just too perfect, granted, they'd probably make it so teachers and faculty were not villains....

You know. Landick Gosei Great's finisher is alot like Fourze's. Imagine the Megaforce/Power Rider Crossover madness!

This was around this exact time last year the first Fourze pics started showing up online, so I don't think there's too much cause for concern about there being a lack of info yet. If we don't have anything concrete by the end of the month then yeah, that might be strange :lol

I can't see Fourze really having a second season, and I don't want it to either to be honest. If it were to, then they've not only utterly wasted these last few Horoscopes but they've also opened a can of worms of fanboys screaming "X rider should get a second season!"

The lack of a new trademark is weird, but I do not see a second season of Fourze happening. If nothing else, it's apparently doing pretty poorly in the ratings. I doubt they'd renew a series that's on course for record low ratings (albeit with pretty good toy sales). I'm sure we'll get confirmation on a real next season by the end of the month.

Maybe they'll not give it another season, but based on toy sales, keep making toys for it?

Wasn't Ryuki in the same boat? With poor ratings but amazing toy sales keeping it afloat?
(It probably helps that Fourze's driver only nets you 5 switches, so any kid wanting all of them would have to buy at least 34 (Since N/S Magnet come together) more accessories (Including 3 role play toys), in addition to a Fourze action figure and any module sets they may want. It's easy to see how Fourze is a cash cow).

Anyway, maybe they're just keeping the info more secretive? Not having leaks doesn't confirm a second season.

It's been awhile since I saw the numbers, but Ryuki wasn't that huge of a step down from Agito (which is, I believe, the highest rated Heisei series). Fourze, however, is apparently pulling in worse numbers than Blade and Hibiki (although those two also had big toy sales problems, whereas Fourze doesn't).

It's just ratings.
Sentai has had plenty of bombs in it's run and it's been going on strong.
Kids in Japan just don't have the interest in Fourze.

Pretty much, yeah. Honestly, Superhero Time as a whole isn't doing that great - GoBusters is apparently tanking hard. Part of that may be it being dragged down by Fourze, but Sentai in general has been declining in popularity for awhile now. If either of the franchises are in danger it's Sentai, but I doubt that will go anywhere so long as Power Rangers is still doing well (although PR does have a buffer zone now that it's three years behind and running each show on a two-year cycle).

I am curious as to some of the reasons why Fourze would be doing poorly, ratings wise. I'm quite enjoying it, myself.
Either way, it's not like one series getting poor ratings will kill a 40 year old franchise. It would take multiple :lol
(And I'm pretty sure Double and OOO did well, ratings wise).

The tastes of Japanese audiences have always been hard to decipher. I have given up trying to predict what Japanese audiences like and don't like. Apparently Toei is having trouble too. What do you guys think?

I'm thinking it's the tone of the series. While W and OOO had plenty of comedic moments, they were still fairly serious series.
Fourze is like Den-O on crack (At least Den-O had the Yuuto (Not Zeronos)/Airi thing for drama), with only...4 notable dramatic moments (Correct me if I'm wrong, but The opening, Gen's "Death", Ryusei's redemption, and Eleen's whole story arc).

I can't imagine any scenario where Toei would think that Fourze going for another year is the thing to do when they've nearly exhausted the toyline and it's already become easier than in years past to get every collectible trinket in some variation, to say nothing of the cast or the storyline continuing beyond September. Fans not seeing the 2012-13 Rider and Toei not doing one are not the same thing.

I think the reason Fourze isn't working well at all is because it's too ... I don't know, "anime-centralized" ... I feel like I'm watching a show that's trying to be a live-action anime at times. And let's face it ... as much as I love Fourze, that suit is just not Kamen Rider coolness, it's goofy looking, the show is more goofy than serious, and for a casual Japanese viewer that's not going to translate. It's like making fun of itself in a sense?

I love it ... but I love the cheese, we don't get enough here in the States.

I'm sure the Movie Taisen this year would touch on their graduation.

It's already been talked about but I'm betting that the next rider won't have a "5" motif, due to the fact that Kamen Rider Faiz, aka 555 is already the "fifth". Then again, what do I know.

The speculation is that it will be "magic" themed, like Wizards, and calling it "Kamen Rider Vzard" ... the V being pronounced "W" and the V also standing for "5". I dunno. Alllllll speculation at this point till we get a trademark.

Latest bit of rumor over at HJU is that the new Rider will be announced on July 12th and he has a cape.

My Rider knowledge is shallow, so correct me if I'm wrong, but a Rider has never had a cape before, right? (EDIT: Scratch this, forgot about Knight).

If you add every form in Kamen Rider Fourze (including movies), you have a total of 8 Riders (KR Fourze base states, Electric, Fire, Magnet, Cosmic, Double-Rocket, Meteor, Meteorstorm) ... and divide by the number of riders (2) and you get ... 4!
If you look at the current KRC who are students and not graduates, teachers, trial members, or riders ... you have 4!
If you include graduates and trials ... you have 8, which 4+4 equals.
If you include KRC students/graduates/riders (and not trials and teachers) ... you have 8!
Each "Zodiart" has 4 stages ... first stage, an overdrive stage, Horoscope stage, and their ultimate form ("Supernova")
