He wasn't the worst thing in Turbo, but he was one of the many reasons I loathe it. I hate him, the concept of him, and everything about him in that show. Hate.

And Beast Machines is has bad as you thought. It has a few good ideas but then gets muddled in plot holes and bad writing.

He's really not that bad. Really. In the realm of child actors, I've seen much, much worse.

The point of his character was dumb, but the end result is honestly better than the likes of MMPR's characters.

Beast Machines was ambitious. It tried something new, and wanted to tell it's own story. It was brought down by poor writing, but I found it to be a lot better than I used to think, treating it's situation a lot more seriously than any TF series written in Japan (Who writes TF for ages 0-4, since Japan has some notion that sentient mechs are kiddy and childish compared to piloted mecha).

The whole kid becoming a Ranger thing was dumb.

It was very ambitious. But the writing was never there, the characters were meh, and the toys.. was there a good toy?

I dunno, the idea itself can work. Kou is the most developed and interesting Dairanger by a landslide, despite having an introduction that would put most people straight off him.

They just needed to try harder with Justin.

it was a fine idea implemented at the wrong time. Carranger just was ill-suited for adaptation to Power Rangers and Justins introduction compounded that..

so, shifting gears a bit....I finally started watching RPM, after Operation OverDrive and the re-use of Gekiranger sets in jungle Fury I'd kind of Writen off newer ranger series....and Samurai didn't convince me I was wrong.....but a buddy who has never been into Rangers watched it with his kids and marveled that I hadn't. so I picked it up......I just reached a certain scene in 'Ranger Yellow Part 2".....umm....DAMN!

True. It was dumb.
I still liked the character.

And, to be honest, I wanted to see Beast Machines continue. War is a constant that never goes away, and with a techno-organic Cybertron, there's so much story potential it's crazy that they decided to scrap Transtech.

And Jetstorm (Deluxe, not Mega), Thrust, Tankor, their respective drones, Shrapnel, Obsidian (Don't remember if Strika was any good), Blackarachnia, etc etc.

Basically, all the Vehicons (Sans Blastcharge), Blacharachnia, and maybe 2 or 3 other Maximals.

I think I remember Baltmatrix reveiwing some BM toys, I'll check them out later. But back on the topic I derailed :lol

For some reason, to me, Justin and the whole 'Kid as a Ranger' thing just seemed like pandering. Shameless pandering. It's an idea I'm very happy they never tried again in PR shows.

What I wish is they'd do more seasons like RPM. You know, well written and acted.

you know what annoyed me with turbo more then justine the hole throwing out the amrican zord cockpit and go back to stock footage for the show i saw alot of stuff they could of done with the movie cockpit for the show and get round alot of footage like the one where tommy read the manuel when he know how to drive the zord all ready.

I never thought that Divatox, Rita, or Zedd deserved to be redeemed either honestly.

One thing I want from Power Rangers is original footage.
This isn't the nineties, trying to make a couple dollars by ripping fight scenes interspersed with bad actors with 3 sets.
Why can't we get the costumes and suits and film everything ourselves, rather than relying on Japanese footage to determine fight outcomes and actions?

because then it wouldn't be power Rangers....

But there have been multiple occasions where we got the suits and made original footage. It worked out great.
But then we put the suits in a closet and still took the Japanese footage.

as long as there are Megazords, there will always be the adaptation of Super Sentai.

Mystic Force. They were fighting on this beach, rocks I remember. And Mystic Red did this weird bounce thing.. Yea, they need more original footage. That still bothers me, that scene.

There are tons of occasions where they make original footage, but for the most part, it's Japanese suit footage dubbed over.

And I don't recall that scene...Do you know the episode?

I was referring to the need for entire SEASONS of zord fights, the amount of original zord fights across 20 seasons could probably be counted on both hands....

Anyway, I watching Operation Overdrive. It has its dumb moments, and that entire episode with Merrick being obsessed with the Pink Ranger (I can't remember her name) was a stupid premise, but it's okay. It has the angriest Pink Ranger to date, though, and an African-American Black Ranger (who is also my least favorite character), as well as my second-favorite Blue Ranger.

P.S. Mack is a baby. He needs to grow up.

Tommy ended up with that woman from Dino Thunder, though. Not Kat or Kim. Which is better because she was a red head. And red head's are just better.

There was no romantic relationship between Tommy and Hayley. If anything, Hayley was the Alpha 5 of the season.

Well, the Mega Mode stuff in Samurai was a step in that direction. And of course we had multiple instances of US-specific Battilizers and other Super modes. Plus of course the Spirit Rangers from Jungle Fury and the Titanium Ranger stuff from Lightspeed Rescue.

Further I think it is pretty evident at this point that doing an entire US-shot series is not cost effective. One of the reasons why Power Rangers has lasted as long as it has is that the series itself is pretty cheap to make, specifically since you are not reshooting the expensive bits.

It's little plot holes like this (and that one time Mike was just floating through space, demorphed) that annoy me. It just takes one little throwaway line to explain it.
