Best - The tributes. I loved seeing Big One and Akaranger in the 199 Heroes movie. Also the one with Battle Kenya from Battle Fever J was AWESOME.

One tribute left me scratching my head, and that was the Carranger one. I was not too impressed with it. Yeah, I understand Carranger in itself was a parody of Turboranger, but the WTF-ness was over the top.

Also for worst, and others have mentioned it, the mecha battles. They have gotten a bit old and stale. I wish there was a way to spice them up more.

The WTFness was spot on for CarRanger. CarRanger isn't a pardoy of Turboranger so much as it's a parody of all the sentai before it.

You are correct, from what I've read. I stand corrected.

Maybe, someday, I'll be able to see Carranger, and maybe that episode wouldn't be so bad for me.

Gokaiger does a lot there is good: good actors, good fight scenes, amazing tribute concept, great villains in Basco and a few others, etc. If I had to choose just one, I'd say it has to be the tribute theme, it gave me more knowledge about Sentai than anything before and the Gokai Changes were simply cool.

I won't say there's anything seriously wrong, as usual, but Furaimaru's finisher got on my nerves after they overdid it. I was so glad when Machalcon was finally introduced. Gokai Silver's Gold Mode was annoyingly overused too, but sometimes they executed it well and they seemed to have toned it down anyway.

Like: The Story Arcs, The Majority of the cast, Mecha, The Arsenal, The Gimmick,Barizorg, Damaras

Dislike: Gai, The Rest of the villains, Constant spamming of kanzen gokaioh (i can understand it though because of toy sales)

Gai is very similar in behavior to Shinken Gold ... aka over the top, loud, very exhuberant. Previous 6th Rangers have been "all powerful, all attitude" and so forth. Just the typical trend of extra Rangers in Sentai ... one time they were all kids (Kiba Ranger/King Ranger), then they were badasses (GaoSilver, Time Fire, Abarekiller, etc.) ... now they're over the top and bouncy bouncy.

I'm sorry but they are different in a key way. Gai is over the top because he wants to live up to past heroes. He gets so excited when he sees them that he loses control of himself. He strives to do what he can to protect everyone. Gai can be bad ass when he puts his mind to it. I think people just see "HE IS GOOFY" when he is around past teams and such, and they just write him off. The problem with that is this, the people that write him off are just ignoring his real character.

When people watch sentai they shouldn't just look at the superficial aspects of a character. They should really want to know what makes that character tick.

^If anyone of us were in a similar situation to Gai, I think we'd be a little ecstatic too.

I really can't compare the show to anything else, because this is the first Super Sentai show i have ever seen and I LOVE IT!

Best: The Pirate Bandana mechhead, the Henshin with space backround and the flag, and the EPIC style of Captain Marvalous.
Worst: The choice of Mecha. What exactly does a Race Car and Semi-Truck have to do with Pirating?

You seem to have missed the entire point of the pirate thing in this series. It's not so much that they are ARG ME MATEYS WE BE PIRATES. They took the title of pirate as a big FU to the baddies. Since the Zangyack are the rulers of the galaxy and make the rules, the Gokaiger call themselves pirates to stick it to the Zangyack. When Marvelous was still with Akared, they lived the life of pirates to steal from the Zangyack and collect the ranger keys. I might be off base, but that's how I see it.

As far as them using the mecha you said, those are the great powers of the Super sentais working for the gokaiger. They worked to get those great powers, so they use them to their advantage. I am not sure how you can call that a worst.

I thought of something else I'm not liking about Gokaiger....spamming the finishers during the on foot fighting.

At least with the Gokai Scramble, they did variations with each use. But I'm really getting sick of seeing Gokai Galleon Blaster and Legendary Dream.

No they aren't. The race car is Green's vehicle and the semi-truck is Yellow's.

And I wasn't expecting them to be long boats, or a giant wheeled cannon. Just make a little more sense with the motif. It just looks like another mehca made from random vehicles, with no cohesion what's so ever to why they all go together.

I think it'd have been much better if GokaiOh had been made solely of the Galleon (ala Galaxy Mega/Astro Megazord). But I imagine for the anniversary they wanted to keep in a mecha made up of five different colours.

Or, if they wanted to do that. five different vehicles that make a giant Galleon and a Mech. (See: Magiking)

Didn't think of that. Yeah, that works too.

And on the subject of the vehicles: The entire series is just a random managerie of thrown together concepts. Galleon, Race Car, Semi Truck, Submarine, Jet, Giant Dinosaur/Tank/Mecha thing, and an Indy Car. And put them together and you get... Gaint Hand Vehicle-Legs GoKai-Oh. And I used to think the people who made Katamari Damachi were on good mushrooms.

Honestly, I really thought this was going to be the case for most of the first ep. That would have been really novel I think. And unfortunately the other vehicles just fly by so fast that you don't even get a chance to appreciate them or their design. They serve little purpose other than to merge so that the Gokaigers can put some new homage weaponry on Gokaioh.

This is especially irksome to me because most of my favorite meka are the ones which can serve a purpose and be useful unmergeged -- the 99 Machines come to mind, along with the GoGo Vehicles. The episode of GoGoV (which I saw when it was adapted to LSR) where they have to save the shuttle which is going down, and each one of the vehicles has to play a specific role, is one of my favorite meka sequences ever.

New BEST thing about Gokaiger:

Evidently my infant son LOVES when I say the names of the Super Sentai in the voice used when they do the Gokai Change. We were sitting on the floor before and I was saying "Goooo-kaiger!" and "Bouuuu-kenger!" and the like, and he busted out laughing every time. :D
