I will admit, I never saw Kiba Gaiden until the other night... and was somewhat disappointed. I was hoping for more movie, and less poorly drawn backstory. Bado, though, kicked some ass.

The Kiba special is not something you watch for the story. You watch it because it has some really great visual pieces and a little bit of background for Makai Senki.

I could have sworn I watched everything for it's story... that being said, I just wish it was something other than what we got.

What I meant was that the special's story wasn't particularly engaging or interesting and that the visuals are the primary draw for watching it.

I totally agree. *some* of the visuals were spectacular, but it could have been better. it felt phoned in to be honest.

Finally got caught up (except for ep 19). Damn this show got good. I mean it was already good, but now?!?! DAMN! I need a figure of every Knight available now.

Yeah, I'm hoping that Bandai puts out some more Figuarts for this show. The Makai Kadous look nice and all, but they're bigger than I like and, according to CookSux's review, the articulation isn't that great. I do want figures of all the new guys, though, especially Baron (aka Makai Knight Zanki)

If they do, though, I hope they aren't exclusives as I still haven't felt financially comfortable enough yet to pick up Zero.

But I have this thing cause I love GARO so much. I would watch the whole series through every year. I stoped when news of GARO: RR came out. But one thing that bothered me was Kiba. I have most of the books from that series and there was no real answer as to who he was. So that movie filled in the gaps for me real well and also did a good job setting up Makai Senki.

I just want an SHF of Dan. Is that too much to ask?

Also, as much as I like Garo MS, it just doesn't feel like "Garo" to me. Maybe it's because there are more daytime scenes than the original did?

I'd like Roudo better if he wasn't CGI all the time. He looks weird when he's just standing there.

I do believe we are nearing the end of the show. All I know for sure is that Makai Senki has at least 24 episodes.

The problem with Kiba Gaiden is that it served no purpose. Nothing happened, there was no resolution to the story. Or rather, nothing came out of it. There was no reason for that random lady to be there.

She was there to tease the existence of Ganon before Makai Senki started. That's actually the only part of the special that had any kind of lasting mark on the Garo story. Honestly, I was waiting for her to show up again in Makai Senki, seeing as we never got any explanation for where the hell she came from or why she was working with Barago.

And while I will agree that the story didn't really do anything, at least the Kiba Gaiden had some really pretty visual moments to make up for it.

Kiba Gaiden was more entraining than the Smile Gaiden at least. The segment spoken in English was nice too (as I prefer dubs if they exist).

So, Garo's over until the final movie. I gotta say the last episode was a little down to Earth compared to the episode before it. I'm overall happy with Makai Senki though. It has some stand out moments, more of characters I like, and even a couple of new characters I really enjoyed. Definitely one of my favorites shows to come out of Japan in ages.

Finished watching both GARO series (but skipped ep 25 of Garo: Makai Senki because it is just a montage of past episodes), as well as movies White Knight, Red Requiem, and Kiba. I still think the first series is superior over the second one, even though Makai Senki clearly became more epic down the stretch by involving all the Makai Knights and Makai priests/priesses in the battle Idea, but both series are very well-done and entertaining, as well as breaking some boundaries on the whole tokusatsu genre. Hopefully there will be a third series (after the movie Garo: Soukoku no Maryu comes out), but the creator of the show seemed to indicate that the current cast will not return because the story of their characters has been told, so we may have seen the last of Garo.

Okay, so I've finally finished everything. All the specials, Makai Senki, everything.

Kiba Gaiden was clearly just Keita Amemiya having fun with visual tricks, but I dug that a lot.

Red Requiem was pretty solid overall, but I'm not sure I'm used to the idea of having the armor being CG. It's clear they were using some sort of motion capture or rotoscoping to make the movements more natural, but it's a little bit distracting in parts.

Makai Senki obviously used this trick a lot in its later run, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Particularly, the first half. I think episode 11 is my favorite. Easily on a part with episode 9 in the original run.

So, reportedly, there's going to be another movie? I'm honestly really hoping if it happens, they go back to using physical suits whenever they can in the armored fights.

I just started watching the first series, and now I wish I had picked it up earlier. Garo has undoubtedly some of the best fight choreography and swordplay in any TV series. And that armor is nothing short of badass.

I'm currently within the first two episodes of Makai Senki, and I have to say that the whole Garo series is nothing short of amazing. While the low-budget CG of season 1 takes some getting used to, it gets better progressively until the effects have been completely perfected in Makai Senki. It's just too bad that nearly all of Garo's scenes in Red Requiem are CG instead of the actual armor.

And I can't decide who is hotter between Mika Hijii and Mary Matsuyama.

It's Mika Hijii. The answer to "which Garo actress is hotter?" is always Mika Hijii.

It was made the same year as Dekaranger. I wouldn't call that low budget at the time. I'll agree Garo has some laughably horrible CG moments though. Episode 4's surgery scene still cracks me up.

I'm going with Mary Matsuyama, but only because the fighting style and outfit tips the scale in her favor. Otherwise, it's a tough call. Mary Matsuyama is like a smoking hot Lucy Lawless.

working on second series...loved that fact though the silent butler is a KR suit actor, holy crap can he fight!

Also Rei being the Dragon Orphenoch from Faiz makes it hard to re-watch that series lol. But man he makes the swords in trench coat sleeves even more badass than they should be...

If I remember correctly, Mark Musashi was also the suit actor for Zero, at least in the first series. Did you see the Smile Gaiden episode? He has a really weird but hilarious bit in that.

There's also a really awesome Street Fighter x Tekken short film up on YouTube of him fighting Daniel Southworth from Power Rangers Time Force. Dan is Ryu, Mark is... um, some dude from Tekken (I know jack about Tekken).

I'm up to episode three and still not seeing the Nightmare Fuel people warned me about. Oh, don't get me wrong, I love Garo. I wish we'd add him to Let's Watch Wednesdays. But I don't see anything really frightening. Creepy yes, alot of damned creepy. But nothing Nightmare Fuelish.

Mermaid Horror. You'll see.

Oh hell yeah, that one really gave me the creeps. The sculptor and finger collector were pretty creepy, too.

I always wondered if Keita Amemiya had a lot of nightmares when he was young, as the Horrors in this series are brilliantly done.

Just came home from watching Soukoku no Maryu. It was awesome, the experience is so different when you're watching in the Cinema. I'll give a review and impression tomorrow, I'm gonna get some sleep for now, internship starts again tomorrow and have to wake up early. Anyway, I'm glad the Sabakku/Savak is mentioned in the movie. The final scene between Kouga and Rei is awesome.

A new movie starting Rekka and Jabi?

Why? Did we really need this?

Granted, Jabi is awesome, but Rekka, yuck. I hope the girl has at least taken some acting lessons since Makai.

No, I hate Rekka because she cannot act for ****. Her character was one dimensional and a spoiled brat. I found no reason to like her at all.

Jabi, on the other hand, was friggin badass and whooped ass in both Season 1 and the Beast of White Night special.

I could deal with a movie with just Jabi, but not Rekka.

I hope it will be a bit more interesting than Kiba Gaiden where you already know every event, just on Kiba point of view. But please, not another theatre stuff, that was entertaining but should remain a one-shot.

Do we know when the movie will get a home release (and thus, a sub)?
